groovyguy 63,869
Blockbuster soundtracks that conquered the Official UK Albums Chart A chart-topping soundtrack is rarely seen in the UK these days - we look at the ones who managed it (or came close).http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/blockbuster-soundtracks-that-conquered-the-official-uk-albums-chart__21380/ Evita - Madonna (1996)Helmed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Alan Parker, Evita and its music was a big change both visually and vocally for its leading lady Madonna. The collection reached Number 1 in the UK 13 weeks after its release and earned Madonna another three Top 10 singles: You Must Love Me, Another Suitcase in Another Hall and, of course, Don’t Cry For Me Argentina. wtg1987 10,660
Nice article and comments from Orbit - its a shame he didn't spend more time with her on MDNA (That album could have been so much better - i love falling free and some girls - you dont get any more eclectic there ! )- i know he moaned at the time that she was balancing a lot of projects at the time- to me he is her best collaborator from the last 20 years - before that i would say Pat Leonard - as for ROL being her best album im not sure - its defo in my top 5 though and drowned world is a sublime song both lyrically and sonically(As is Falling Free) i really hope she works with him again in the future - im sure he would be up for it ! ) Thanks William xx

Her dozen of Number 1 smashes are: Like A Virgin, True Blue, Like A Prayer, The Immaculate Collection, Evita - OST, Ray of Light, Music, American Life, Confessions on a Dancefloor, Hard Candy, Celebration and MDNA. *deep breath* Madonna is the only woman in double figures, joining an elite club that only includes The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Robbie Williams, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and U2.
