I mean the fact Like a Virgin and True Blue have sold 40 million copies But Rebel Heart (1.5 million) Madame X (700,000) I just get attached to and prefer and WISH were huger like if ha does different with tweaks here and there the potential of hits within controversial eras could've still very much happened beautifully and organically and that's what gets me MDNA whilst I like it if that made impact in a bigger way I think the 2010s definitely would've shown a different energy for her RIO this weekend was everywhere like how she was back in 2008 it felt like always newsworthy and out there in a positive light ... Brit Awards, Eurovision and health scares all over media and scrutiny haven't helped fully but still ...her output has been high and I do personally hope her team gets on board and really showcase the pop scene today what can be done

I too feel that Madonna doesn't care who hears what she's got to say she airs it and works with a team for each era to bring it all to life ....like whilst some may dream she should've stuck with Pat Leonard and Stephen Bray forever ....that would've also got over familiar too ...whereas Taylor and Antonoff seem to be stuck together for most part and it shows So I think hopefully she will I deed expand with different people to air what she needs to air ....she will have a LOT to say on this next album ....being reflective, health scares, family support, pandemic, fragmented world, discourse, cancel culture, LGBTQ rights, diversity and also getting very reflective Rebel Heart was the first time she intentionally referenced her legacy back then ....so now it makes even more sense to do it It would stand out for the right reasons if done and marketed right

I think about all the MAJOR POP years since 2010 like we had 2011- BORN THIS WAY, 21, TEENAGE DREAM, FEMME FATALE, APHRODITE, TALK THAT TALK/UNAPOLOGETIC, 4, start of MDNA hype 2013- MDNA TOUR DVD, ARTPOP, BEYONCE VISUAL ALBUM, PRISM, BANGERZ, RED 2015/16- REBEL HEART, EMOTIONS, 1989, LEMONADE, ANTI, GLORY, JOANNE, 25, DEAD PETZ, GOLDEN 2019/2020- MADAME X, CHROMATICA, FUTURE NOSTALGIA, SMILE, FOLKLORE, THANK U NEXT, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO, PLASTIC HEARTS, DISCO to name a few like these eras felt huge ....now listening to it yes it's all a bit 6 or 7 out of ten ...that'll do pop very disappointing like either they're a bit too tied to concepts to be freeing or they're too loose and put together it's gutting

I think the main reason we compare is because Madonna herself has put herself in being ahead of the game and really being out there with the big players of music and entertainment and art Taylor Swift, Ariana, Beyonce, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish are the ones she would want to be contender with She's not concerned about peers I adore PSB saw them last summer and they were incredible but she creates her new albums to access out of hardcore fanbsse ....she knows she's got a huge audience and critics and media will latch into it Madame X imo could've been huger if for example she had a big hit to lead it ...age isn't an issue Old Town Road with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus was COLOSSAL that year for example of a song and story hits the narrative to launch an era it could be big for the album Renaissance imo is not a good album .. it's full of concepts and is a great study in the art of dance music through black queer angle BUT without Break my Soul leading the way I doubt it would've struck a chord to build an era out of for cowboy carer to now fly See where I'm getting at!? MDNA, RH, MX I do feel if orchestrated slight differently they could've been bigger in hindsight but she didn't adapt the way she could've Kylie's Padam Padam at 55 years old for example hit it hard it trended it became a hit and Tension was a critical and commercial darling too her third era in a row well engineered ....now I for one find her recent albums a bit "meh" but they're decent and the aesthetics you cannot fault But I just think had her recent three eras been better orchestrated I do feel she could've nailed each one different Madonna shouldn't be compared to her peers her peers are her competitive rs! And she's always wanted to be ahead of whatevers out right now in the arts

Like I sometimes fantasise if Hard Candy she worked with Chase and Status with Stuart price still to create a more harder edged album Or MDNA she went the more Diplo/Skrillex/Avicii route and REBEL HEART she went the Dev Hynes, Disclosure route and Madame X Honey Dijon route

And I think as fans we take for granted that in previous decades Madonna literally WAS the social media movement whatever style aesthetic story sound lyrics performance video etc became the moment and impacted culture massively That post 2007 media it'self started to change hugely like genuinely massively I couldn't believe the ruse of social media sbdbthibgsbbring colossal before they were ready Hard Candy I feel could've been bigger than it was for sure ....it was number 1 everywhere sold 6 million etc but my days with effort she could've made MDNA get a bigger launch pads too like whilst I like the albums a lot I do think man if she worked with different producers or styles or aesthetics those albums would be considered a lot more highly just with tweaks here and there to have made them bigger 2012 you literally had Madonna everywhere even without a promo tour she dominated then 2013 it all went much quieter all of a sudden it's bizarre the way it all works in the digital streaming age but I do hope that this tour will help in her platform going forward

That's great if that's the case In Confessions she accessed new listeners, whilst divided fandom Hard Candy and MDNA she managed to attract new audiences to her too ....and I feel from 2012-2023 she hasn't really harnessed a new audience outside of hardcore fandom which is why it's felt she's not fully transitioned well in the streaming trending age as we would've hoped she would have With the tour hopefully that'll help branch into the next album era ?! It's been a long time and music feels so uninspired regardless of streams or sales or whatever if Madonna released MDNA today it would sound more energetic and frantic than anything getting out out today it all feels empty
