    does anyone know why they call it the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. I've read it was because he was insecure that M won an award and he didn't?

      Yeah, I think like you... And the problem wasn't that Madonna had won. It could have been other artist and he'd be upset too... But, I think it's important to know how to lose. He deserved the artist of the decade award? Probably yes, she had "Thriller" and "Bad". Madonna had "Madonna" "Like a virgin", "True blue", "Who's that girl" "Like a prayer"... I know why she got it.

      Rumours at that time said that he was very angry because he thought that he deserved the "Artist of the decade Award" (that Madonna won). So he "asked" MTV to add his name in the "Video Vanguard Award" or he wouldn't premiere his videos on MTV. An ego thing, I guess...
