This week in 1984, Madonna’s Lucky Star was released in the U.S. Lucky Star became Madonna’s first U.S. top five hit (No. 4), and the first in a string of 17 consecutive U.S. top fives. The video was directed by Arthur Pierson, a stark performance piece bringing together her brother Christopher Ciccone and Erica Bell as backup dancers. The clip was filled with black rubber jelly bracelets, lace and a certain gyrating belly button.
Lucky Star was written by Madonna and produced by Reggie Lucas and Jellybean Benitez.

An oral history of the Queen of Pop’s debut album
Excerpt... quote from Michael Rosenblatt: “I gave Madonna – after we signed – I gave her a gift of one of these old school Casiotone keyboards with a cassette player built in,” Rosenblatt told CNN in a recent interview. “And a week or two – definitely not longer than two weeks after I signed her – she came into my office and she played me ‘Lucky Star.’ She said, ‘I just wrote this on this little thing’ I got her.”

@stickersweeter Thanks for your wonderful response. This was part of the shoot for a Rolling Stone special edition called Musicians on Musicians in 2021, where Maluma and Madonna both interviews each other. There were even a a couple of promotional videos to it as well. She uploaded one of them which includes a remixed version of "Bitch, I'm Loca". Another had snippets of them interviewing each other in a bar.

This week in Madonna history, "Hanky Panky" was released to the world scoring another top 10 hit. In Finland it went #1 and in the UK #2. My bottom hurts just thinking about it!
