  1. cold, dark, unimaginative mess of a tour. with the exception of the last 3 songs
  2. i'm not saying they are not incredible, i'm just saying they are less incredible than mdna tour. EDIT: Actually, Drowned tour is not incredible, no.
  3. MDNA is a trash album but the tour was fantastic. My all time #3 How is who's that girl tour and drowned world tour higher than MDNA??
  4. The sources you presented don't prove or mean much, as I explained above. The only "official" source you presented is her website which can't even get the release year right. True, it IS my narrative and I've explained what that narrative is.
  5. Would trade a lot of things in her career for the BS tour.
  6. the issue I have with this movie is that it feels like she's dying or getting ready to die for the entire duration, like a 2 hour long funeral and it always makes me slightly uneasy watching it, so I avoid it.
  7. It would help if we make a distinction between "lead" and "first". because I do.
  8. I know, right And what's funnier is how personally offended they get if their way is not the only way. My perspective is different and I'm speaking from the marketing / promotion point of view, but accept that people have their own views. I'm glad that you agree with me.
  9. @Blue Jean and @McDonna you two should reach an agreement on Die Another Day, there seems to be some confusion there.. Vogue is not listed because I (but probably not all fans) don't consider I'm Breathless a studio album but a soundtrack album in the same group as Who's That Girl and Evita.
  10. I appreciate the effort in finding these, but all I see here is a bunch of articles written by journalists whose task was to write a Madonna article, so I assume they used google and wikipedia, like I would if someone asked me to write such an article on let's say Michael Jackson, whom I am a moderate fan of. Even her website, it's known that these are maintained by moderators who probably are not hard core fans, but people who do their research online and are paid to do their job. (also stating the first album release date as 30.11.1982 further proves my point) I don't know If you like Ellie Goulding, but see her album Brightest Blue, and tell me if the lead single is Close to Me or Worry About Me. Or George Michael and his Patience album, is the lead single Freeek! or Amazing. Both of these cases for me it's the latter, but I understand why some people would disagree. It's one thing to release a single and then include it on the album, and a different thing if a single kicks off a promotion cycle as part of a cohesive audio / visual marketing plan. I see no point in this discussion because I know what I consider a lead-off single and what my logic behind it is. But of course I accept that other people see things from other perspectives, which is also fine and doesn't bother me as much as it bothers you. Feel free to do another poll and list all your lead singles, and I'd be happy to vote
  11. Because Burning Up was released to fulfill her 2-singles contract. it was recorded, together with Physical Attraction, for that purpose in November 82 aimed at March 83 release. Both were recorded a short time before Madonna signed the 2-album deal, also in November 82. The work on the album started only in January 83. So it was not there to kick off the album release, but for another purpose.
  12. They did make enough buzz, for an unknown artist. They were targeting clubs and that's what they achieved, they were massive club hits - No.3 in the whole country. Not bad for an underground NYC-focused girl on a minor, new wave label. The reason why she got the album deal one month after Everybody was released was because it was successful. As soon as it was evident that Everybody is doing really well in the club charts they offered her a 2-album deal. People look at Everybody and Burning Up as if they are some kind of flops, only because they are seeing from the perspective of the mega star Madonna. No one sees that they are successful first steps.
  13. Show me one piece of evidence where Warner or Madonna stated they consider Live to Tell and Everybody as the "lead singles". And don't say "from the forthcoming album" or similar lines because that doesn't mean anything, it just says the single will be included in the album. Don't even say that the back of True Blue single says - third single from the album because yes, it was the third single released that is included there, to me it doesn't prove my point. Holiday is the lead single and was released a month after the album due to technicalities, but was in fact there to promote the album kick off. Everybody was part of a 2 single deal, and had Sire been unhappy with her they would have dropped her without the album. It is a single that was later included on the album. We are looking at this from different angles, and while I see yours, you're not seeing mine and there's nothing I can do about it.
  14. The Celebration Tour ad was her last "fuck you" to them. Now you're gonna advertise my tour for free bitches
  15. Agree to disagree. But if you stick to your logic, you have to count Die Another Day as well. Literally the same situation as Live to Tell.
  16. +/- a few weeks. Okay sure, a month. But you get the idea how promotion works. Not counting Vogue, that was added to the finished album additionally.
  17. I don't think they needed her permission, they paid for and own the clip. But are they now sponsoring the Celebration Tour??
  18. That statement is completely true, +/- 2 weeks, always. Just enough to get the people warmed up to rush to the stores. And yes, I agree that it was always intended to be on the True Blue album once it was recorded. I never said it was "eventually" included after the album was finished- it was one of the first songs to be confirmed to be on the tracklist. But we can agree to disagree on the concept of the lead single.
  19. Sure, "from the forthcoming album" yes and it was included just as advertised. "Included" does not mean lead single. At that time lead singles were always released 2 weeks prior to the album being released. Up until MDNA, and with the exception of Holiday.
  20. Well the original idea for Live To Tell when Pat Leonard asked Madonna to sing some vocals on his demo for the soundtrack he was working on, and then ended being used on At Close Range, was to be a just that- a soundtrack single. As soon as it was finished it was decided to be included on the album but not as something that would kick off the album promotion
