  1. And don't you think you're being highly judgemental yourself here too ? If not then ...well...
  2. Hey BJ from MNation ? (i lost my password there and wouldn't go through the hassle to make a new account. Send my best to everyone there plz) How are you ? Back on topic, Trump made a career saying shit on Twitter and he's still there, still has millions of "fans" no matter what he says and like it or not, Trump and Madonna are from the same school of provocation. Regarding Madonna and MJ, people should go on AllAboutMadonna and read her very early interviews, she constantly cited Michael as her idol and inspiration. I think in the 90's MJ, Madonna and Prince were highly competitive with each other and ALL of them took jibs at each other but in the end Prince they realized they had more in common than what took them apart. Most of "Like a Prayer" album was made with MJ musicians and producer (Bill Bottrell...).
  3. Trump will take over her pretty soon. These things don't matter and the more they happen, the less they matter. Hom many times a celebrity or a politician has trended for having put his or her foot in his mouth ? If at first it caused major problems for the celebrity, people are now over this because they know people overreact to the meanest thing. That said she needs to learn the lesson she keeps forgetting to learn with social media. It's not the scandals it always causes that worries me but the fact that she does that to be closer to people and it keeps pushing her further away in the end. Counter-productive. And she listens to David and her kids too much. She needs to be surrounded by full grown adults who are not on her payroll.
  4. I said exactly the contrary. Warner must have had quality control, something that was missing from M and Prince's albums after they left the company.
  5. I hope this means no more collabs with Maverick's artists for Madonna. I think the decrease in terms of quality control on the post Warner albums is due to the fact that someone at Warner was checking things and making suggestions. It can't be coincidence that Both Madonna and Prince made less thrilling albums after they left Warner and imo the contrast in quality is even bigger in Prince discography. His Warner years are extraordinary (except maybe in the end, starting when he had his own recording studio in Paisley Park) and the albums he released after that pale in comparison.
  6. The only song she talked about and didn't cover is "Limit to your love" by Feist (but she referred to the James Blake version). I woud like to have an album of the songs she covered these last few years (Between the bars, If i had a hammer, Falling i love, Hallelujah...) but an album of covers ? Nope. Maybe deep tracks from albums of her favourite artists but no super well known songs.
  7. Thing is Cher has never been taken seriously as a recording artist. You had to live in the 80's and 90's to remember how she was mocked for dating younger men (including Tom Cruise). Thing is she embraced the ridicule that was thrown upon her and ran away with it. In the process she left the power she could have had. Older performers are being ridiculed when they reach a certain age. Look at Mariah Carey. An older woman can't be sexual. Why ? So if they tame the sexual aspect of their personality they are accepted because they submit to society's standards. For Madonna it's hard to be someone she is not. She's sexual, no matter what she does and from the get go, from before she was famous, That's part of who she is not a character she plays. When she did the SEX she was ridiculed too because Madonna never was sexy but sexual. Sexy is how record companies sells you to the masses. Madonna owns her sexuality. What she does today is not different from what she did in the 90's. She got acceptance when she complied with "Ray of light". Nothing sexual about it. Why society is threatened by women's sexuality is the real question here ? And why older women in entertainment are accepted as long as they accept to be ridiculed ? Cher was saved by Hollywood because she 's a fucking good actress. She was saved by Twitter later because she's good at it. But musically, excuse me, to her own admission her discography is shit (even though Take me home is a bop and she hates it just like she hates Believe and that i understand), the worst of pop rock and dance has to offer. The Sonny & Cher records are the saving grace. The ones who are putting Madonna down for her sexuality are the same ones (including fans who think they are not sheeps ans think they know better hence why they ahve such a brilliant career in show business themselves) who put her down for SEX. Years later this era is seen as pioneering. So don't miss the train or you'll hop on it in 20 years from now. Maybe Madonna does it over the top, not very subtly but she never was subtle and when you want to kick a door down you don't ring or knock on it, you smash it. Yes grillz are off putting and some of the things she does as well but she has to be over the top so that the idea that lies beneath can find its way through that door. Maybe too we should all reflect on what our personal differences are and not so much accepted by society's standards and understand that when someone is freeing herself from these silly standards she's freeing us all, not to emulate her the exact same way she does it but as widening the possibilities for each and everyone to live their lives on their own terms. She's not forcing anyone to be like her, she's just saying "don't be afraid to be your true self because life is short and one day you'll wake up feeling you have not lived your life the way you wanted it because you were scared of what others would have thought of you". I understand that the grillz may obturate the view so we can't see the big picture here but when you focus on them you are not trying to see the big picture either. The backlash she gets and critics re off putting to some fans because they feel like they are directed at them by association. They are not. She's willing to take them. If you are not maybe you should follow a safer popstar because she won't change, this is who she has always been. If the ride is sometimes rocky, most of the time it's fun and even better in retrospect because as we grow older and learn we finally get what she wanted to say and it makes sense, not only because we are more mature but also because society changes thanks to people who are not afraid to question standards and the limitations that are constantly thrown upon us. Maybe Sharon Osbourne should free herself from her own inhibitions, she'll be less judgemental and agressive about everything but what would be left for her to say or do ? Because that's basically her whole "career". Whenever something bothers me i try to understand why, what does it triggers in me ? When i'm mad at Sharon Osbourne it's not because of Madonna, she's like this with everybody...it's her constant agression that i find off putting, not very pro-active like she's the guardian of the temple of all inhibitions people should keep. When Madonna tells us to not be afraid, the constant criticism of sharon Osbourne and others are here to tell us to be afraid of people's judgement and acid tongues. Telling us in the end : "stay in your place". And these people usually don't follow the rules they press on others too. I'd rather grow old like Madonna, enjoying life than like S.O being bitter and angry. And going back to Cher, if being a character helped her in movies and on social media, she should have tried to not be one on record because i've always felt that there's a great album this artist can finally make if she dropped the act. Why an older female artist must erase her sexuality in her work and life and accept to be kitsch ? Because it makes people feel safer ? Why people don't feel safe when a woman is sexual especially older female artists ? Mommy complex ? It bothers me more than in your face sexuality and saying that i hate all the sex songs on Rebel Heart because i think they are too much but i understand why she did them. The more we are going to tell her it's bad, the more Madonna will come up with something even more over the top because she'll just see a fence she needs to break down until everybody shut up. So pray society will evolve soon if you want another "Ray of light", do you part and don't put up fences before her.
  8. Because it's not the first time Sharon Osbourne goes after Madonna when she's not even in the news. What the fuck is Sharon Osbourne anyway ? She has a shit talk show that is a copy of The View where Dlisters give their two cents (most of the time negatively) about everything (the dumbest shows ever after TV Reality). She became famous because she inherited her father's management company and managed her husband then her children. On the other hand she's allowed to her opinion as much as Madonna is allowed to live her life the way she wants to live it. She does not owe anything to that woman....but at least Madonna gave her daughter a job (Material Girl) when she was no model material and she provided her with her only semi hit with her cover of "Papa don't preach". Madonna did more for Kelly's image than her own mother. Maybe that's why she has something against her.
  9. she's a sack of shit. She whored out her whole family for a penny and a place in the spotlight. They are all fucked up. She has been remade from head to toes and she's best friend with piece of shit Morgan and Elton John. That's where this comes from. What will be S.O's legacy ? Bringing TV reality to MTV and fucking up the whole channel.
  10. Since they are her work lawyers i doubt there's something personal in these files. It must be all about her work related contracts. The Madame X tour one was just a regular contract from the firm. On a funny note here's Madonna at Grubman's wedding in 1991 Since Gaga and Madonna have the same entertainment lawyer i was wondering if that's the reason why M did not credit gaga on the MDNA tour dvd & album. And i'm a bit disappointed that no contract between the two surfaced explaining that their "feud" was all arranged by them. But maybe that was just a verbal agreement.
  11. I'm Breathless since i despise Lloyd Webber and Rice. And Stephen Sondheim > those two. I've never liked Evita, neither the movie nor the album and same for the musical. A musical glamourizing a dictatorship is completly bonkers. And in I'm Breathless she's at least fun and lively...
  12. Please no. One of the best thing about MP3 files compared to CD's is that i could get rid of all those terrible interludes on Janet's albums (and her ballads too but that's another topic).
  13. Massive Attack asked Madonna to sing "I want you" after a session with Chaka Khan turned into a nightmare because of her diva attitude. Marina and the Diamonds was asked by Interscope to write for Rebel Heart but she turned it down when she realized it wasn't coming from Madonna herself. Same with Ariel Pink who babbled about it but Madonna wasn't even aware they asked him.
  14. They confirmed it in an interview for the french magazine Paris Match in 2004. In 1997 the Icon update letter mentionned that Madonna had approached Trent Reznor to produce Ray of Light. Massive Attack should have had a hand in co-producing Bedtime Stories but since the 1994 summer was a world soccer cup year they turned the offer down because they wanted to watch the games. (interview in The Face where they also said she told them she fucked to their album "Blue Lines") Madonna thought about using both Nile Rodgers and Trevor Horn for Like a virgin but Rodgers asked for full production (read in Seymour Stein's book Siren Song how Warner wanted to screw Madonna up on the benefits from the album because Nile Rodgers asked for 20% of the sales and Warner had no interest in Madonna when the contract was made then Borderline happened and they wanted to revise the contract. In fact Stein says Warner US had no interest in Madonna before she became successful so he had to sign a distribution deal with Warner in Europe (wea) for her first contract) Madonna thought about using Nellee Hooper for Erotica, he turned her down. Madonna was supposed to be in "Under the cherry moon" but she turned the offer down. Then Prince offered her a role in Graffiti Bridge, that's the reason why she went to Minneapolis in november of 1987, that's when they started writing "Love song" and other stuff. He had written several songs for her character. She left without anything being finished then he came to see her in NY when she was doing "Speed the plow" with the demos they made, that's when they finalized "Love song".music was going to bean album with Orbit and brit dj Sasha but she didn't like his submissions.
  15. Maybe we'll finally know if gaga really killed lina morgana because she was antivax.
  16. The reason is as simple as Jaime King directed both shows.
  17. Maripol did a lot of Grace Jones stuff for the stage and she eventually used them again for Madonna when she started. She also did a lot of stuff for Debbie Harry and she re-used them too. For instance the Like a virgin wedding dress was already a prop in Blondie's and Grace Jones shows. Were they original ? No since it wasn't their idea either.
  18. I hated Madonnation because the mods seemed to be mental inquisitors but i've just been insulted by someone here (and i wasn't the only one) so i don't know if it's any better now. You may disagree with someone but name calling and insulting is never an option and in a way it invalidates your point (even if you are right). I'm a bit disappointed by Infinity now.
  19. Since movie production has been stopped for an unknown time because insurance companies won't take that risk and without insurance you can't make a movie....maybe we'll get an album instead
  20. Hopefully (even if it went number one just because it's on sale) it will show her there's a demand for her back catalogue and maybe she'll treat it better. I hope Warner took note and will harrass her & Oseary now. We, at least, need remasters.
