You know, now that Im not pissed off, I feel like responding to your comment. You say that Erotica and American Life were not seen as art. Well, nobody was criticizing the music, conservatives were just outraged about the themes of female sexual empowerment and Erotica has since been praised as a masterpiece of an album. I dont need to address American Life because it is not relevant to the point I am trying to make. Let me ask you this, as a Madonna stan, are you totally comfortable with everything she has done since Madame X started? do you actually think that she has been doing herself any favors in terms of her image? Now, you might lie to me and say that you are totally down with everything she is doing, we both know the reality and if us fans feel like that, just think how your average person who is not a Madonna fan views her recent behavior. She can claim that stunts like her VMA appearance is art all she wants, that will not change the reality of how people view that stuff, partially because of ageism. Her recent behavior does not serve the art of her music, it is just to get attention in the form of criticism and thats my problem with Madame X Era as a whole. Try hard is not sexy, especially in the minds of a society that is very ageist.

Erotica is a work of art, her social media is not. People were outraged at Erotica because it was controversial, Madonna was more powerful and influential than ever when she released that album. I dont see anyone outraged about her recent antics, they are viewed as jokes, something that cant be said about Erotica or American Life. Your reasoning is incredibly flawed, but hey, you can sit around applauding many more Eurovision performances and tracks like Candy Shop all you want in the future. Meanwhile, I will be hoping for her to recapture her relevance and make another great album.

Im very curious to see what everyone thinks about this album as a whole and which tracks you especially enjoy. For me Erotica is not only the greatest of Madonna's albums, but in the top ten records ever made my a pop artist. The word masterpiece is thrown around way too freely but this album really makes for such an incredible listening experience. Madonna is at her best here, utterly fearless and artistically controversial. Two of my favorite tracks are Erotica and Rain but I have a hard time picking any that I like best because the whole thing blends together so perfectly. Its the reissue that I am looking forward to more than any other.

Here is the basic problem that you fail to recognize, all the things she did in the past that were controversial were related to her music in one way or another and served to provoke real thought and discussion. What she is doing now is incredibly damaging to her reputation, its not controversial in the average person's mind, it is just sad(keep in mind that the mainstreams opinion is not my own). We also need to face the fact that Madonna is no longer musically relevant, her last real solo success was Confessions. I am not a hater, I am a longtime fan who is simply stating that she needs a reinvention if she wants to have some chart success again (which I dont personally care about all that much) Also, she will always have her haters but think about how much more respected she was in the public eye from Ray of Light until Madame X, this persona has destroyed her reputation much worse than you care to admit and the social media has ruined her mystic that was always important to her appeal and image. Since when did Madonna care more about being an influencer than an ambitious artist hungry for success? if she no longer has that fire and drive, she should just embrace her legacy and if she still wants to gain some respect and relevance again she will need to apply damage control in 2022

Jesus Christ! I had not heard about that. I am a giant fan of the Floyd and having something like Pulse Concert in Blu Ray is a literal dream. I would give anything for Madonna's team to do something similar

I have said many times that I dont care about number one hits all that much, I was just addressing my views on the topic for those who have been asking about it. The reason why her stuff initially does well and then drops off the charts after a week is because everyone is buying the album but wont get with the times and stream her releases, which is the only way to achieve hits anymore as much as that sucks.

I seem to be in the minority who is fucking tired of the dance albums, like yourself.

I am concerned about her public image because we are talking about the possibility of future hits and having your PR intact is an important part of being an artist. It is her right to wear whatever she wants at any age but that does not change the fact that many of those moves are ruinous for her reputation these days. Madonna can look like a plastic Kardashian with a fake butt all she wants, but that will do nothing to help her fix the image she has so disastrously fucked up since Madame X. She is not taken seriously right now, it is time she goes back to being an artist and not an influencer who posts crap that everyone laughs at on social media all day. I say these things because I am a fan and I dont want to see her perceived as a fool in the mainstreams eyes. She has always caused controversy, the difference now is that the behavior does nothing to serve her art, it is just disjointed and random cringe posted on social media.

This remix is mediocre from the standpoint of a longtime Madonna fan but It was definitely a smart move to seize the opportunity of this thing going viral from a promotion standpoint. Madonna is going to take what she can from this and that looks to be a lot based on the amount of streams I am seeing

These days, it appears that Madonna is surrounded with handlers who would prefer to not tell her the truth about anything. She needs to ditch that scrub of a boyfriend also.

The thing you guys are missing right now is the fact that back in those days, Madonna was much more relevant than she is now. Comebacks were possible then because of her mass appeal, despite outrage from conservatives. Now, I feel like her spell is broken, she has tons of fame these days but little influence or power. I dont care about her having hits, I just want good music. If she does want to achieve some relevance again however, she should stop self destructing with the Kardashian behavior on social media, nobody thinks its sexy or art as she likes to claim. We need a good reinvention and a good album with decent promotion this time, that is her only slight chance for another hit and it better come soon because she is not getting any younger.

There is definitely a big nostalgia movement going on these days, I think that the comeback of vinyl shows that. Basically people are nostalgic about the past because of how wretched things have been in these last few years and the fact that there seems to be little hope of things improving significantly in the near future.

Yeah but a mentality like that creates the mindset that we can call any piece of crap art just because people are talking about it afterwards. Donald Trumps speeches got a lot of people talking but that does not mean it is great art. The same thing goes for Madonna's wretched social media these days. Safe is basically the name of the game when it comes to music in general and the ones who take risks and continually innovate are the ones who usually end up going down in the history books as something special. Kylie is about as safe as one could get and that is not meant as shade, it just is what is is. I enjoy her music at times but she is no Madonna, Bowie or Prince. I see her a bit like Adele in that nothing she does is very innovative or creatively fresh but she knows that fans will keep coming back for the same thing they expect from her albums. Although it can get very stale for some people, her approach is not exactly a bad thing, it just ensures that she will never be thought of as a groundbreaking artist in any way.

I say positive things about Madonna all the time on this forum, but the topic is concerning her comeback and if making one is possible. I am perfectly aware she can be whatever she wants to be, but I was outlining things that I feel need to change if we want to see her recapture a spotlight with the general public, I am a realist, not someone who blindly hopes for everything to go hunky dory in the future.

Her legacy has already been secured, once she dies everyone is gonna be up in arms about how revolutionary she was. I just want to see her have some relevance again while she is still alive.

I dont think that Madonna is nearly as spiritual as she claims, although I might be totally wrong. She seems to pick up different religious elements for her work and use them. I dont really see Kabbalah any different. It was just a phase she went through.

I am not asking Madonna to be a 20 or 30 year old version of herself, I am wanting her to act like the legend she is and stop making a fool of herself on social media and tarnishing her reputation. There is nothing creative or artistic about the bullshit she posts, all it does is give low lives the chance to trash her. I want to see her make a comeback and things need to change for that to happen. The movie is most likely going to be a disaster since Madonna herself is micromanaging every aspect of it herself, although I have some hopes for decent reissues in 2022. In regards to Madame X Tour, it was stunning to witness in person, provided you did not show up thinking she was gonna play her classics or be on time. As a fan, I really liked the spectacle and understood what she was going for but it hurt her touring credibility with the average person who is not a Madonna fan.
