  1. Also the relationship with this book is gonna be based in your own personal experience. For me when it came out and I was a queer teen in some small town. My sexual preferences were a big element of how I feel about the world and my struggles to see how and where I fit. Society imposed you to question and made it an important side of your life and everything you do. That one of your references and inspirations, come out with a book where sexuality is shown as something else, natural, personal, open. Was such an empowerment and relief for me. And I know lots of queer kids at the time that felt that way too. It was'nt about being into sex, but into don't making sexuality a tag to describe you. it was'nt sinful or unnatural.
  2. Madonna first albums were a cute rebel teen, with Erotica she started exploring and experimenting, that show a softer sensual side too with Bedtime stories, Something to remember. She had the adulthood challenge with Evita and she came out as and mature strong woman with the Veronica electronica triad (ROL, Music, American) It was a natural process of growing up. If Madonna made another Like a prayer she would'nt be where she is today.
  3. And Stuart Price was in the band so i wonder if he had some influence on the more electronic approach of the whole.
  4. I think it's to help to create an atmosphere within the theme. Frozen was in the action electronic part, so she vamped it up a bit. Same when she does the latin parts and make everyhting with a latin hint
  5. and Miley said multiple times that she owe it to Madonna
  6. It's such a good time ending. The whole Girlie show is really uplifting (even the saddest part regarding AIDS) She looks so happy and bright up. It's interesting how this concert connected to the 'dirty Madonna' period, is so happy and energetic. It's like a big finger to how the media was treating her.
  7. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/16/arts/music/madonna-birthday-impact.html "In the “Sex” shot, Madonna used her body with as much animalistic force as her fellow Detroit rocker Iggy Pop. Her pose turned inside out the way sex is commonly used in pop culture nudes, expressing not a sexual lure but the power of personal confidence."
  8. Also thanks to Madonna making Pop female artist as something with a empowering sexuality we arrived to where we are today. It was always about cute pop singers or uber sexual artist, designed for men.
  9. I don't see how it could run her career when she came with Bedtimes stories after, that was a success worldwide. Something to Remember was pretty succesful for a compilation, she was praised everywhere with Evita and then she delivered Ray Of Light, Music and American Life. The whole idea that Madonna's career was drowned because of Sex was more of a media/press wanting to stirr shit than anything else.
  10. It's a tour that I never cared for (maybe cos I was pissed I coudlnt go) but looking at it now, it's really good on its components and themes. And it contains what they are big hits by that time: Ray Of light, Frozen, Secret, Music, Don't tell me Dumb question: What's with the You'll See? I noticed is on the Tour audio but not on the Detroit video.
  11. Oh true I have that and did'nt notice, that's 24 sec longer
  12. I'm T-rex with unicorn rising, I know what you mean
  13. He could'nt handle rejection and made some shit up
  14. Spain was under a fascist regime until 1975, once Franco died there was little censorship, something similar in Italy. And France always had a really open approach to nudity in arts, movies,..
  15. I have the poster of Madonna hitchhiking naked in my bathroom's door
  16. I considered doing the screen grabs, but it's literal just flashes here and there. The video follows basically the same structure than the book, so whenever you see M ' boobs & fanny that's the same. The video matches everything from each other but when the censor shows topless Madonna the other shows some transiction or similar footage without the tits.
  17. So i just did something I never thought of doing before and watched side by side the Youtube video vs the uncensored one. What they edited out is mostly Madonna's tits and pussy. Every time she shows her tits is cut. And there's lots of times. From the BB beach moment, bed with the lesbians and the androgynous guy, the fetish dungeon, in the pool with Rosellini and then Naomi, and the Vanilla Ice moment. Apart from that the only other thing they removed is a flash with some of the club guys butt and kissing in between that looks like replaced by different footage to create continuity after cutting several tits moments. But yeah the censorship comes to nipples, as ridiculous as it is.
  18. I couldn't recall but I think so. I remember watching after 11pm along Smack my bitch up and some others
  19. I remember seeing it (and recorded it) in full in Spain. But in the UK MTV only played it in late hours with the 'banned' videos. I never understood that.
