  1. Same reason for most countries outside of the US. Babyface RnB sounded VERY American / middle of the road radio / adult contemporary snooze. Back then, I thought he sounded super cheesy, reminded me of easy listening crap à la Barbra Streisand. Not edgy enough and not touching either. In comparison, Trip hop acts (Massive Attack, Portishead...) sounded from the future and brought soulful ballads to another place. Thankfully, M ditched the Babyface/Mariah/Whitney balladry soon enough and went a little bit more experimental with I'll Remember later on.
  2. but you have to work with good songwriters to achieve amazing anyway...
  3. Haha, ok with those but not I'm Addicted. The Middle 8 section saves the song from being another MDNA generic song, and reminds me of Rescue Me in some way.
  4. It's not only M, it's a trend in pop music of the 2020s. Shorter songs with little or no intro, and breaks or drops (programming, effects) that take the place of melodic bridges.
  5. Of course someone MASTERED (not REmastered) the demo (since a demo is not supposed to be mastered to begin with). A mastering engineer is not supposed to be considered as a producer either. Two different jobs, not the same rights and paycheck at all.
  6. Exactly what I thought! That's composition analysis, experts charge big bucks for such a job : ) @Rainbowyou can check the "Composition" or "Recording and composition" segment on the Wikipedia pages of most M songs, you might find some answers, like here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_Up_(Madonna_song)
  7. I meant that the different parts are easy to notice... "You can think of the pre-chorus as a type of bridge". cf. https://yousician.com/blog/pre-chorus Bridge is general, pre-chorus is specific as it is a kind of bridge placed between verse and chorus in the song structure. For the Up Up part, I agree with you about the bassline but the topline melody is quite different and it's performed mostly by the choir so it still fits the middle 8 definition imho... As someone said in another thread (I didn't get why this topic popped suddenly, but let's go, it's interesting), songwriting is not mathematical science so there are always going to different interpretations...
  8. Middle 8 and Bridge are not exactly the same thing https://www.musicianwave.com/middle-8/ Most pop songs have a Middle 8 (the "break", the "drop", the featured artist, the instrumental section before the final chorus...) Bridge takes a little bit more of songwriting. One easy example is LFL : "First you love me" part = verse "Took me to heaven" part = bridge "Living for love" part = chorus "Up Up / Lord lift me up" part = Middle 8
  9. Full and official credits of the demo haven't been released as far as we know, every site is using BTUTTB (MX version) credits. Or maybe Dean and Bhasker won credits on this version they remixed 5 years later 🤔
  10. Genius is NOT a reliable source for lyrics, as anyone can contribute without verification. The credits for BTUTTB (demo) say that Mike Dean was a producer, which is not the case. Someone blindly copy-pasted the info from the Madame X version : https://genius.com/Madonna-back-that-up-to-the-beat-lyrics "Drop, drop, drop... Drop that, drop that, drop that, drop that, drop that, drop that drop that Rat-tat-tat-tat, tat-tat-tat Rat-tat-tat-tat, tat-tat-tat Drop... (Wait)"
  11. HAHAHAHA omg I always heard "let that that drum (fun) drum (fun) drop (go/bang) drop (go/bang) " or something like that but whatever... There are at least 3 vocal takes mixed on top of another so she's probably singing different adlibs, as it was a demo with unfinished lyrics (with room left for a hypothetic featured performer) I found "Ra-ta-ta-ta (drum) / Ra-ta-ta-ta, ra-ra-ra (fuego)" as a result on Google. But I guess TikTok will have the final word, that won't even stand corrected with the official release of the official lyrics, especially with sped-up songs 😅
  12. Bourgeoisie If you miss an "i", you're referring to a woman from the bourgeoisie, not to the whole social class. ?
  13. So now Instagram stories and twitter posts don't count as media promotion, and a user-generated content campaign on TikTok* either? Is this a new rule for 2023 ? Asking because I haven't had the memo. * I mean : she's had 2 months of free promo on TikTok for zero dollars, without even having to ask for it.
  14. She's been writing checks for 35 or 40 years to fight against AIDS and to help people with it. She funded hospitals in Malawi and funds a charity organization called Raising Malawi. So maybe you believe in the narrative that she doesn't have the spirit, but she does take action, and it has been reported that she has been giving a lot of money to different charities for a long time, without publicity.
  15. It's been 4 days since you didn't shut up. In case you haven't noticed, it's the holiday, New Year and all of that is happening over the week-end. So yes, nobody is working AND IT'S TOTALLY NORMAL.
  16. Oh, what a nice way to start the year by reading your repressed frustrations.
  17. Faz Gostoso is a cover from a HUGE hit in Brazil and Portugal by singer Blaya in 2018, so it's not surprising that the streaming generation will look for this title and play the M version, either because they didn't pay attention it was M, and/or because Anitta is such the It-girl from Brazil at the moment.
  18. Thank you Ms. Art Teacher, talent manager and voice of "we all". For you own mental health, you should quit the BTTUTB threads and spend all that nice energy on something useful.
  19. OR... maybe this "Canva" style is the graphic trend of the moment and everybody's doing it.
  20. How many times are you going to write about your vulgar hatred for this song? What are you doing here btw?
  21. I'm taking about old demos, not "new music". I'm saying BTUTTB could make people curious about former eras when the reissues happen with those gems in her unreleased discography (some we know and others we have probably never heard of). Oh, and how come something that "means no shit to her" would "lead to her making" more, anyway? This doesn't make any sense.
