  1. This is so cool, I met Crazy Legs many years ago in another lifetime.
  2. The Video of The Year!! This is great!!... so who put out videos this year...
  3. I will rock I'm So Stupid over anything from MDNA and even Rebel Heart any day, gawd I love that track its like a punch to the face.
  4. For those into Diplo, Madonna apparently makes a cameo in his new short docu: https://hypebeast.com/2018/7/diplo-florida-to-california-documentary-justin-bieber-madonna
  5. Secret (Some Bizarre Mix) remixed by Bizarre Inc., a bit of a change from the more NYC oriented remixes of the 90s. Apparently one of these guys is now part of Chicken Lips and Emperor Machine which is kinda cool. Frozen (Stereo MCs Mix) Stereo MCs had a string of hits including Connected and Step It Up, a strange collaboration but a funky remix indeed. I love The Head's vocals, its sad he didn't drop a verse but super funny that his only bit on this remix is when he says Madonna. Keep It Together (45 King Mix) Mark the 45 King was huge in hip hop with The 900 Number and production for Flavor Unit, Queen Latifah, alot of the late 80s/mid 90s NYC NJ rappers. Rain (Remix) completely reimagined backing track, more emphasis on one of the spoken segments. Nobody Knows Me (Mount Sims Mix) love the weird freestyle/breakbeat vibe of this along with Micronauts remix of Hollywood I always loved David's Love Dub mix of Deeper and Deeper, the way it stops and sort of melts amidst the organ.
  6. Is this entire photoshoot available in color? Its one of my all-time favorites. Sidebar: LOVE "Beach I'm Madonna"
  7. He still claims, in the video, that the vocal is a re-recording of a friend of a friend that happened to sound like Madonna...? He says there was an original, unreleased version with her voice message.
  8. Its ironic that DJs like Tenaglia and Vasquez can do "14 hour" DJ sets as headliners but people are later shocked to hear that they are addicts. I can barely stand for two hours straight lol
  9. https://pagesix.com/2018/06/21/junior-vasquez-misses-being-pals-with-madonna/ (Direct link takes you to video clip of about 5 minutes of Junior talking about his hey-day with Page Six TV) Junior Vasquez misses being pals with Madonna By Carlos Greer June 21, 2018 | 2:27pm Junior Vasquez — the iconic DJ and producer who remixed everyone from Britney Spears to Cher — has opened up about his tumultuous past with Madonna, and his wish they could be as close again. “Her and I together. We were like brother and sister. Junior Vasquez and Madonna. We became a pair musically. I would like to collaborate again or [for her to] just be my friend … [It’s] more of the friendship that I want back,” Vasquez exclusively told “Page Six TV” ahead of his gay pride appearance at PlayStation on Saturday. Vasquez and the “Material Girl” had a huge falling out in the mid ‘90s after he released the tune, “If Madonna Calls,” without the singer’s permission. “It was a very confusing time because I know why she did it … because she didn’t want anyone to make money or fame off of her actual name,” he said. “But [I thought] it’s just a campy record. I ran into her a couple of times, but snub snub … I lost a friend,” he said. Vasquez also told us Madge had a jealous streak. “If I played a certain record… [like] if I played Vanessa Williams, she would look up at me funny [in the club],” he said. “There was a battle between her and Cyndi Lauper, but the battle was with me. Cyndi would say, ‘Oh, you’re going to see your other girlfriend now,’ because they were sort of rivals,” he said. Vasquez, 68, has spent his later years out of the limelight in rural Pennsylvania, after beating a crystal meth addiction. But the house music legend, who was responsible for the beats at Sound Factory and Palladium, says he’s ready to come back. “My time will pass when I’ve passed … I want to get back into the studio,” he said. A rep for Madonna did not comment.
  10. https://nypost.com/2018/05/31/vogueing-legend-looks-back-on-nycs-underground-dance-scene/ Vogueing legend looks back on NYC’s underground dance scene By Chuck Arnold May 31, 2018 | 7:28pm Modal Trigger Vogueing legend José Gutiérez aka José Xtravaganza performed on Madonna's Blond Ambition world tour in 1990 (right).Brian Zak; Ronald Grant Archive/Alamy Before he went on to strike a pose with Madonna in the 1990 classic “Vogue” video and her subsequent Blonde Ambition Tour, José Gutiérrez Xtravaganza made his first fierce moves on the Christopher Street pier on the West Side Highway. It was there, as a 16-year-old, that he discovered the runway-ready dance that twirled out from the underground culture of black and Latin gay men in the ’80s. “I automatically fell in love with it,” says Gutiérrez, who hit the pier with some older students who were also studying dance at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. “I was like, ‘What is this?’ It was something like a face-off. The different ‘houses’ would battle each other with this attitude. Voguing is 80 percent attitude, I always say.” That attitude is being served, and that movement is being celebrated in the new FX series “Pose.” The show’s set in the mid-’80s, during the height of the New York ballroom scene, where “houses” were like families and voguing was the mode of expression. For Gutiérrez, now 48, it wasn’t so much about who would take home the grand prize in competition, it was about finding himself as a young gay man and being a part of a community. “It was like discovering this whole world,” says Gutiérrez, who also appeared in the landmark 1990 documentary “Paris Is Burning” that went inside the ballroom scene. “I was so inspired by people like me, my own kind. It was really welcoming. Seeing that so early on, it opened me up to so many things artistically and personally because I identified.” Gutiérrez choreographed Madge’s iconic “Vogue” music video.Courtesy of Jose Xtravaganza Gutiérrez encountered the House of Xtravaganza on the pier, quickly impressed them with his skills and joined their ranks, adopting their name as his own. “They were like a fashion gang, kind of like a ‘West Side Story’ feel,” he says. Being of Dominican descent, though born and raised in the East Village, Gutierrez was also drawn to the fact that the House of Xtravaganza was predominantly Latino. “They were looked upon to be so different,” he says. “I wanted to be a part of that.” But after being discovered by Madonna at Manhattan’s legendary Sound Factory nightclub, Gutiérrez took voguing and ballroom culture to the mainstream first in the “Vogue” video and then all around the world in the tour. When he returned to New York, though, AIDS had taken its toll on the scene. “It was really good, and then it got really bad with the AIDS epidemic,” he recalls. “It had such an effect. Everyone got really scared. It was like people dying everywhere, sick in the hospital. I was losing my friends.” But Gutiérrez was determined to carry on the legacy despite all those losses. He remained active in the House of Xtravaganza and eventually became that family’s “father” in the late ’90s. “I knew that we still had this family,” he says. “It became more about taking care of each other and those that had survived, licking our wounds.” Now, though, Gutiérrez gets to see some of those who passed away come back to life on “Pose,” thanks to show co-creator Ryan Murphy. “He took the stories of a lot of these people who are no longer here, who appear in ‘Paris Is Burning,’ and somewhat gave them life.”
  11. Drowned World Tour for the win Confessions was hot too, though. I loved American Life so ReInvention was fucking awesome especially Nobody Knows Me. I loved seeing these tours live and cherish the memories, chills just thinking of them.
  12. To play Devil's Advocate, if its on Wikipedia its got to be true right? I think if the curls had been in place for this tour more than the (iconic) ponytail folks would associate Breathless with Blond Ambition. After all it is probably ver hard to do an MC Hammer dance in a tight dress. Even titling the album "I'm Breathless" is a double entendre. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blond_Ambition_World_Tour The third segment was a cabaret inspired by the 1990 motion picture Dick Tracy, in which Madonna starred as "Breathless Mahoney". During this segment, Madonna was wearing a green and white striped showgirl outfit. It included performances of "Sooner or Later", sung atop a grand piano, "Hanky Panky" and "Now I'm Following You", in which she danced and lip-synched with the dancer Salim Gauwloos, who was dressed like Dick Tracy.
  13. I think she definitely embodied M-Dolla for wayyyyy too long M-Dolla ran thru MDNA into RH
  14. I was just watching a re-run of the NBC show "ER" Season 12 or 13, the patient has the mistletoe out and the two nurses walk by. He says "you two need to kiss now!" they go "ugh!" and he says "Well Britney and Madonna did it!"
  15. I like how the captured image for Beautiful Stranger and Die Another Day is almost identical. Looks like it was a big day for Madonna's "at the movies" videos.
  16. American Life should be filed as underrated per Bedtime Stories and Erotica. It was a transitional period and a point in time. TBH I loved almost every moment of that era, including the skank makeout session with Britney and Christina. It was a transitional point in pop history, she did her thang and was ready to pass the torch. Fast forward 15 years, one is a TV host and the other plays Vegas. I'm not mad at her. The industry changed beneath her feet while she was still in motion and (IMO) she dumbed it down to catch up with the downward spiral at about Hard Candy. I mean listen to the acoustic demo of "The Beat Goes On".
  17. Hard Candy Album/Tour/Gym/Collaborators/Videos
  18. Great work Groovy! I thought the current era would be the "You Must Remember to Love Her Era" Stereo MCs would go on to remix Frozen, their remix was used in Drowned World Tour.
  19. But theres a whole thread where we are dragging each other, speculating and chomping at the bit for more pictures of Starrah with her hand on her face at douche garageband camp for kids. Madonna is a frickin' multimillionaire legend I don't get why she is hanging out with embryos. And Guy O. needs to stop like she didn't have nearly 20 years of wild success prior to ROL, pat yourself on the back a little more fella.
  20. Madonna was radio silent on Bernie Sanders when his momentum could have toppled both Trump and Clinton, its nice to see her acknowledge he exists.
  21. http://www.nme.com/news/music/david-byrne-cover-david-bowie-madonna-choir-2221951 . Short videos in the link above. . Fun fact from the article: Byrne, who inducted Bowie into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, also performed ‘Borderline’ – a nod to Madonna, who accepted the induction on Bowie’s behalf.
