  1. In my personal life I am lazy but my work ethic is very good. She would probaly like my no nonsense approach to work. No phones, no fooling around...I'm honest and often put work's needs ahead of my own. I'm respectful of management but do have a problem if they are unfair to me in anyway. The things I think would bother her about me would be that I apologize a lot, can be slow in my work...not from laziness but perfectionism. I can also be emotional. I am also very concerned with how people feel about me. I am also easily hurt by blunt criticism. I need to feel supported. I am not "late" but I also do not manage time well. I am like the tortoise. I guess it would depend on what she would hire me for because I do have some traits I think she would like.
  2. I have a feeling she will prove me wrong but I think she might need to rethink her way of presenting her music. These tours pushing her physical limits are not only harming her, I do not think they truly represent all of her work. I think she is too focused on proving how tough she is because she is getting older. She seems stuck. Innovation Madonna. You were always a champion of innovation. My opinion of course has to be said but putting that aside I hope she gets the care she needs to heal and not be in pain anymore. ? Wishing and sending her all the positive energy I can for her to be well. ❤
  3. I have absolutely no idea who this guy is so I can not judge him. I have never really been all that enthralled with Madonna's love life. She always seems to think she has to be someone who challenges her or a it seems just a purely physical relationship. Her relationships bore me. I never bought into being with someone who challenges you. That gets tiresome really fast. Her two marriages ended with so much bitterness. Challenge you a little on ways to improve yourself but not a complete rejection of the person you are. You have to be somewhat compatable to spend that much time together. I also hate her preoccupation with a guy looking a certain way. I understand wanting someone who takes care of themselves but I'm sick of her detailed problems with looks that seem to come from a written criteria. The age difference doesn't bother me in relationships if it is a spontaneous thing. If an older person is "only" dating people in thier twenties...that doesn't make any sense and shows a lack of maturity. Sure, I like the cultural aspect of an older woman dating a younger man since we have so many immature men who date younger women. It bothers me that she seems to stay away from dating older men because if you are gonna fight ageism you yourself can not be ageist. There are plenty of attractive older men that take good care of themselves. She just doesn't date them. I would just like to see her with someone more animated and independent and not just hanging all over her like thier in high school.
  4. Madonna certainly isn't? At least she has something to say...challenges herself as well as others and was academically succesful. I'm sick of her being compared to a bunch of people who basically have nothing to say but everyone acts like they do and all these self absorbed "geniuses" clinging to them. I am sick of this whole scene. I'm bored with it. Turn the page.
  5. "We" don't? I do not consider a "Trump" kind of con artist intellectual. As far as balancing I think Madonna does a fine job. I find the twitter feeds and forums of other artists I like are going on and on about thier genius and thier humility too. This is from thier own twitter. It's a huge turn off. No one reminds me of Madonna and I can not wait until someone does.
  6. That is just surface stuff. Intellectually I can't think of anyone who reminds me of her. Visuals and drive maybe but again that is on the surface. Should Madonna not take herself seriously because she is not a one dimensional woman?
  7. Thank you Donatella Versace ???? for saying this: "Everyone saw Madonna on the cross as another one of her “provocations”—because the intelligentsia have never taken her seriously. A woman who dares to lift her head up and say what she thinks? To expose the rot we are all trying to hide? No one noticed that, in reality, the message she sought to convey was a much different one. When the count on the screens stops, the information, which leaves you breathless—like a punch in the stomach—begins to appear. It’s the number of children who would soon die from AIDS if society didn’t do something to help them, not just with medicine, but through prevention, research, education, and discussion."
  8. I think a lot of what has gone on by Pop stars in recent years reflects society's or the media's "idea" of what Madonna was doing. They often compare the side antics of Pop stars to Madonna. That in itself is a kinda art work unwittingly on display. She used a perfect word a few years ago when she said "reductive" describing a simplifying of her work like "this is all it is, and there is no depth to what Madonna was doing." What is interesting is all the people that have been compared to Madonna in recent years really do not remind me of her as an artist. They are just singers which is fine but comparing thier "stunts" to Madonna basically is an attempt to reduce her work. The artists of recent years and thier formula driven music producers just do not get the artist Madonna is. I would hope to see a crop of new artists who truly remind me of Madonna.
  9. I think God Control and Dark Ballet are the two strongest songs on the album but we are living in very strange times where extreme conservative thinking is posing as liberal minded with the cookie cutter art out there pushing everything that makes you think to the side. You either think completely one way or the other with no exploration of thought. Ironically it was easier for Madonna to break in when she did because even though what she talked about was considered controversial the door to be able to talk about things was open. No one went where she went...that's what was new. Singer songwriters in the 70's were talking about unconventional song themes no doubt inspired by folk singing earlier on. So more variety of thought was put into rock music as time went by. Madonna brought that and more into Pop music which was amazing. God Control is an amazing song and would have been a great first single. Madonna has to forget about trying to impress people who have made up thier minds to not be impressed by her regardless of what she offers. Just release the songs you think makes the strongest statements and hopefully society catches up.
  10. I love the looks she gives when he talks about feminist reactions to her work. I am old enough to remember feminism on television before Madonna. Even at my young age I couldn't understand why feminism meant being "more like a man" to be taken seriously. Wasn't that buying into that whole notion that what men did was more important? Before Madonna I thought this and even though I agreed with what I thought "feminism" was getting at I didn't understand everything they promoted. They seemed to be celebrating anything considered masculine and looking down on anything considered feminine. When Madonna came along I was around 14 years old and I remember her being a breath of fresh air. I do not blame feminists for not getting it but they didn't. They seemed to be agreeing with thier oppressors. When you agree with your opressors and want to be more like them you are not empowered; they are still controlling you. Everyone uses masculine and feminine traits and I think the healthiest minds balance both. Speaking for the United States I think feminine traits have been beaten down to the point where we are now inundated with a toxic masculinity. Even Madonna I think has leaned masculine too much in response to treatment growing up and by the public to the point were she has lost her balance. This is why I kinda understand the feminists of the past who were simply trying to survive in an unfair unthinking society. It is very hard to be yourself when you are criticised endlessly by so many for doing just that. During Ray of Light artistically I think she was greatly exploring mental feminine traits with a touch of masculine in her art with the song Ray of Light being a pure balance of masculine and feminine. Most of the other songs lean heavily feminine mentally. Like I said befor all humans use both masculine and feminine traits. A woman can be very "masculine" and a man can be very "feminine." I think a balance is healthiest. Madonna was also good at revealing what was innocent and if people thought otherwise than they need to check thier own thoughts. She is also good at revealing what is just. I often had absolutely no idea what the latest "controversy" was about. The only controversy was my own personal one with her when she "seemed" to be leaning towards agreeing with her critics in the late 90's and early 00's. Even though disappointing I think it was motherhood and the immediate protection of her children that became more important than being true to your art. So it is not fair for me to judge that. The difference today with whatever controversy going on today is that I think a lot of her fans are agreeing with her opressors and I think that has hurt her quite a bit where she may be lashing out at her fans at times. I have heard bitterness in her music...especially in MDNA. I think she was hurt by her husband whom she "changed" for and by her fans who want to abandon her because of her age. This new album is getting back to more of what she cares about. MDNA is a good title for that particular album because it was "hurt" and "pain" that I think was the driving force that inspired Madonna to become "Madonna" in the beginning. Like the feminists in the 80's and 90's I think a lot of her fans agreeing with her opressors are just not "getting it." Back in the earlier days her fans did "get" her art and the only controversy was from the people that didn't.
  11. Can I add that watching the video for I'll Remember...I can not believe that film has not recognized one of her songs as worthy of an award. Her film songs are amazing and instead of standing above the film they really identify with whatever charactor she focuses on. I always think she is thinking back to someone who helped her when she sings this song so she draws from her own experience as to how to relate to the story.
  12. I chose "Rain" for both because I think the song and video are more artistically appealing while still conveying emotion. "I'll Remember" though really brings out more pure emotion I think. The song and the video. Still artistic but the beauty in the song and video is in the emotions expressed. I love when Madonna shows that emotion. "Rain" has a cooler tone and look but the emotion is more subtle and relaxed. I love them both but I am going with "Rain" because it is exquisite.
  13. Poor Mariah needing Billboard to prop her up. Look where they strategically put Madonna. The other two are debatable...and Taylor Swift, artist? Madonna absolutely destroyed the "we will tell you whom to love music industry." I can not wait to see the end of this love affair with cult leaders in music and politics. Telling people to love themselves for who they are and then putting down anyone who they perceive is getting more love than they think they deserve. (that criticism is usually reserved for whomever they see as competition, not thier fans or voters of course.) Mariah has a good voice and a few good songs but they seemed "formuladic" and she always seems to have "problem" with others.
  14. I can not speak for the world because I spent exactly one weekend in my life outside of the United States. The society I was speaking of is the United States.
  15. @EnricoThe script supports a woman going insane because she is rejected. It's an insult to people who have a real mental problem and to women. Then to add insult to injury they make her out to be the mean old bad witch. Everything has been decided FOR HER and the audience just sits back and laughs or boos her as a villian. People who hate Madonna and her can't beat em join em fans are trying so hard to paint a picture of Madonna in a role that she is not interested in. All one has to do is take a look at her children"s happiness to see what kind of a person she is. Her fans who feel the pressure to fit in have been trying to recycle her for over a decade now and then point the finger at her for everything instead of admitting thier ageism and sexism. As far as films I definitely do not want to see her in some loud obnoxious movie. I do not know who was guiding her in her film role choices but let's say she was and I think she has made really bad choices. I am pretty sure Warren Beatty said the same thing when interviewed at the time making Dick Tracy. I do not think the charactors she has played had a lot of depth to them and she didn't seem to care about them. In her best films....she obviously cares about her role in Evita and somewhat in Who's That Girl but in Desperately Seeking Susan although great she seemed to be showing up for a job. Her charactor basically just hangs out for most of the movie which gives a new spin on desperately seeking Susan. Although fun and I think she did a great job with the charactor Mae in A League of Thier Own, her charactor only has glimpses of anything beyond a "bad girl." When she prays in the clubhouse, walking in the finishing school to name a couple moments. My favorite moment of hers in that movie is at the end where I believe Mae "knows" what Dottie did for her sister and tells her she did good. Overall though I think there is so much depth in Madonna's music but I do not think she approaches acting with the same respect that she approaches music. I agree with you about her appearing in a fantasy because I do think she is somewhat lost in the real world. A more artsy film is what I think suits her well.
  16. I do not like the connection society creates of an older woman and a villian. You might be seeing things from a different perspective.
  17. I hate that film/ play. That is society's idea of women thrust upon them. It's an insult.
  18. I seem to be caught up in an argument I am not aware of so I let go before I made the first post. I know the audience had more patience for a younger Madonna. The line in the Alanis song like many lines can mean that for me as music and words can have different meanings for different people. All I can do is apologize to you for obviously upsetting you but I already said that I was not speaking of you as an individual.
  19. I was not referring to you at all. I was responding to what you said about an " audience roaring in laughter." I was talking about the general population and how I observe thier treatment of older women. There is a line in an Alanis Morissette song that say's "it's not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me." As far as sexism goes I feel that line very strongly. Any complaints by women, especially older ones, will be dismissed. I went off topic but I wanted to point out that what people found fun or attractive about Madonna has become null and void because of her age and not what she is doing wrong. I stand by the public's overwhelming acceptence of sexism alongside claiming it doesn't exist. You seemed to be pondering an audience's reaction then and now. That is what I was responding to.
  20. "People ignore older women." The fact of the matter is people are only seeing Madonna's age and not seeing her anymore. "That's a fact." I don't care what anyone says. The most liberal minded people on the planet are sexist but they don't know it because it's pretty damn exceptable to be so. The only thing you have to do is just don't go around saying you're sexist. Of course I know intellectually that women still are who they are no matter what age they are but having a large portion of the population dismissing your existence can be even more of a downer then dismissing your abilties. I am going off topic but I am thinking of the difference of then and now as far as audience reaction to what a woman says or does.
