  1. I believe she has been trolling her fans for awhile now. Before it was the public which was a lot more fun for us. Like then, I still am most interested in the music. I am not talking about core beliefs, I am talking about hang ups people have and how what is ok for one is not ok for all. I do not believe for a second that Madonna is not aware of the effect she has on some people's firm beliefs about what they think this person should and should not be doing. In this case her fans and what they have embraced in pop music from others even though their age has not changed. Her fans are older too, not just her. That is just what I think.
  2. Holiday Ray of light Nothing Really Matters Honorable mention: Love Makes The World Go Round
  3. I think she should draw inspiration from her first album and name it Madonna.
  4. Makeup artists can actually make someone look younger and older. I actually prefer that to a completely different person taking over the role. The exception of course is when they go from being a child to an adult. When someone is an adult their looks do not change that much and it is disruptive to the story for me to have another actor play the part well into the movie. I think it's easier for makeup artists to make someone look older than younger so at 33 I think this actress would be perfect to play Madonna from her early 20's to now.
  5. "I think" we are alike in our refusal to accept whatever role is handed to us. Our endless and stubborn search for unconditional love. Our intolerance for tools. Our intolerance for bullys. Ability to see through people not close to us. Our blindness to people who are close to us. Love of the Arts Not afraid to say what we think even if we are mocked for it. Easily hurt but strong Fear of thunder Feel like I don't belong I'm sure there's more...?
  6. I can not find a topic on who should play Madonna so I hope it is not a problem to post this here...if so please post it in the proper place. I also do not know if it has been suggested before but could this actress, Sarah Gadon, play Madonna in her 30's? ....Please forgive me. I looked it up and I see it has been suggested she play Madonna. I am so out of it on these things. I saw her in a movie last night and thought she was brilliant as well as resembling Madonna. Based on what I saw I think she would really put herself in the role.
  7. They are mostly clever but I think Confessions On A Dancefloor is the most clever. "Wrestle with your darkness Angels call your name Can you hear what they are saying? Will you ever be the same?"
  8. I feel her mysterious aura is quite intact. The most interesting art does not follow the rules and will show little if any control on how it's perceived especially if that art is built on irony. Madonna is a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend but towards her fans and the public she is an artist. That is the nature of the relationship she has with us. How do we percieve her?
  9. Oh Father: I have had similar experiences shown in the video, especially the funeral scene. Drowned World (Substitute For Love) The sadness of years of relying on your "substitute for love" only to be left feeling empty and learning there is no substitute. Madonna of course was not left feeling empty by the end of the song and the video. ? Falling Free "I wanted you to feel the same." Wash All Over Me " I'm not gonna run away from all this sadness." Dark Ballet This song for me represents an uncompromising commitment to stay true to myself but also knowing that commitment will bring me suffering. You Must Love Me Madonna's intentions in Evita for me are all about the connection she has with the people who love her. These songs I can focus solely on the feeling and they have made me cry. Madonna, I feel, mostly deals with sadness in her songs by mingling it with anger or numbness which distances itself from the true hurt wanting to be expressed. I can name many but two examples for me are "Nobody Knows Me and Paradise ( Not For Me.) In "Nobody Knows Me" the hurt is barely hidden under a tense delivery and Paradise (Not For Me) really captures the numbness of repressed hurt. This is my experience anyway and I feel that if Madonna really expressed the underlying hurt in many of her songs I would be a mess but I feel I can sense it in her songs. She too often keeps the listener at a distance. I believe I have cried at the songs I listed above but Oh Father and Drowned World destroy me.
  10. I will like it to cover from the beginning to the present.
  11. I have always felt that "Live To Tell" was a personal song for Madonna even when I was a teenager. Extremely deep, I felt it somehow connected to her life. It's perfect. ?
  12. No, I think Madonna and Mariah live in two different worlds....meaning the way they view and approach life and art.
  13. The thing about film about people who have had a lengthly career is they have to cram so much in a 2 hour movie. I don't really care for the currently critically acclaimed rock bios. I don't feel they tell the whole story about the person involved. She saved all her journals. ❤ ...and I agree, no one can tell your story better than you can. Others do not know what you think, feel, experience...
  14. This could be great if done well and free of involvement from people who don't know what they are doing artistically.
  15. That would be amazing. What if it's me? ? Honestly, I don't think she would be on forums for any length of time but one would have at least mild curiosity if a forum was dedicated to discussing that individual.
  16. I love this. It sounds very 50's ballad to me. What I love about it most is that it is the true vunerable feeling behind Drowned World. In the demo she says "I will wait for you." Meaning real relationships with people because there is no substitute for love. In Drowned World she says "Should I wait for you, my substitute for love?" Meaning her fame.
  17. Madonna has always been all too human which is why I took to her. No human is perfect in the conventional sense but everyone is a perfect human being. What was attractive 40 years ago is not so much today. Fans today think the "show" is real.
  18. I got where Madonna goes in her work as "shadow work." I have always loved this because few artists are brave enough to do this. I feel I know what her ultimate goal is and it is to a place of love and peace because that is where she always wants to go. What is in your heart? What are your intentions? She has a better grasp on her path if she deals with every aspect of being human. ❤ I do not trust anyone who thinks they are flawless. Things Madonna has spoken: Speak the truth and shame the devil. The unexamined life is not worth living. Here is an article on Shadow work: https://www.centreofexcellence.com/what-is-shadow-work/ The sad thing is that people who have said things about Madonna are actually unwittingly being controlled by all the things they claim to be against. They are so obsessed with calling everyone out around them that they do not question themselves at all. Evil is on no one's side. It only wants to exist and it doesn't care where or through whom.
  19. There is a difference between someone dealing with real circumstances and paranoia. Fear can make someone accept things in their life they do not want or support. I think she would rather not have them around her. Paranoia and a toxic mentality has made people treat guns like they are a family member. How many of those guys walking around with their guns are truly afraid beyond what they make up in their own head?
  20. I lose a bit of the narrative when this verse comes on but I believe you are accurate with people thinking she's "insane" for thinking there is a problem. For me it goes into the general for most of my thoughts when I get reactions or non reactions to what I write or think. The new birth for me is "learning." and the dope for me is actual drugs. One of the reasons I have never taken drugs apart from an occasional drink is that I have always felt the brain I have is literally my only friend and I have felt that Madonna has thought that through her life as well. It also helps for me that she says it in a "cheeky" way. I like your assessment of the "dope" as the rhetoric spoken by gun rights advocates and that she is indeed thinking critically while they choose to ignore the problem. This pulls me back into the narrative of the song.
  21. I am mainly obsessed with what is being said in a song and it's meaning for me as a listener. I often feel very strong about my interpretations but I do question myself. I would love to hear other member's intepretation of these specific lines in God Control: "People think that I'm insane The only gun is in my brain Each new birth, it gives me hope That's why I don't smoke that dope Insane people think I am Brain inside, my only friend Hope it gives me birth each new That dope I don't smoke, it's true"
