  1. First of all, I know Madonna already put out her “Celebration” album in the best way she thought, no other can person do it better than she could, she had every right to release it in the way she wanted, who am I to judge her etc etc I know. No need to emphasize that. I just want some opinions. I have a thing for the compilation albums, and I usually do not like them the way they are released. I always find a few missing tracks, and to me these spoil the perfection. This is the case for every artist I like, so I listen to my own made-up “Celebration” on my telephone as well. I already shared it on the thread about making our own “Celebration”, but I always wondered which one of the three discs in my “deluxe” edition would be the favorite of Madonna fans, and why? So here I am, asking your opinions. Once again, this is just a personal choice and not an attack on Madonna or the actual album. The versions are the original album versions unless stated otherwise. Here I go: CD #1: 1. Hung Up (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 2. Music 3. Vogue (the original “I’m Breathless” version with the “What are you looking at?” intro added) 4. 4 Minutes 5. Holiday (edit with the original intro) 6. Like a Virgin 7. Into the Groove 8. La Isla Bonita 9. Like a Prayer 10. Ray of Light (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 11. Sorry (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 12. Express Yourself (unedited video version) 13. Dress You Up 14. American Life (edit) 15. Erotica (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 16. Justify My Love 17. Human Nature (video version with the door slams and the “Absolutely no regrets” message in the end) 18. Revolver CD #2: 1. Papa Don’t Preach 2. Material Girl 3. Lucky Star (7’’ Edit) 4. Who’s That Girl? 5. Burning Up 6. Open Your Heart 7. Crazy for You 8. Bad Girl (edit) 9. Frozen (edit with the original long intro added) 10. Secret (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 11. Cherish (7’’ Edit) 12. I’ll Remember 13. Miles Away (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 14. Rain (video edit) 15. Take a Bow (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 16. Nothing Fails (edit) 17. Don’t Tell Me 18. Hollywood 19. It’s So Cool (shorter version) CD #3: 1. Beautiful Stranger 2. American Pie 3. Die Another Day (edit) 4. Jump (edit) 5. Give It 2 Me (video edit) 6. Deeper and Deeper (7’’ Edit) 7. Everybody (the version on the actual “Celebration”) 8. True Blue 9. Borderline (7’’ Edit) 10. Angel 11. You’ll See (edit) 12. The Power of Good-Bye 13. Get Together (unmixed album version) 14. Keep It Together (Single Remix) 15. Hanky Panky 16. This Used to Be My Playground (video edit) 17. You Must Love Me (Single Version) 18. Live to Tell 19. Celebration
  2. Hard to pick, both are amazing!
  3. 1. Ray of Light (Nothing Really Matters) 2. Confessions on a Dance Floor (Sorry) 3. Like a Prayer (Till Death Do Us Part) 4. Music (Paradise (Not for Me)) 5. Bedtime Stories (Bedtime Story) 6. Rebel Heart (Messiah) 7. Hard Candy (Voices) 8. True Blue (Open Your Heart) 9. Like a Virgin (Dress You Up) 10. American Life (Nothing Fails) 11. Madonna (Physical Attraction) 12. Erotica (Rain) 13. MDNA (Love Spent) Surely the ranking and my favorite songs change from time to time, with the exception of top 2 and the bottom, for now at least. For example I have been fond of her 80s stuff nowadays, and therefore TB and LAV rose above AL whereas LAP rose into top 3, displacing “Music”. I also listen to HC more than ever now that I am away from my country and ‘Miles Away’ became my soundtrack. Therefore, it keeps its position. Originally my favorite track from ROL was ‘Skin’, but preparing this list, I discovered that I grew a little bit tired of it and that I prefer ‘Nothing Really Matters’ instead.
  4. She is, like it or not. Your little ignorant comments and that question mark will not change that. If you still stomp your feet and whine that she is not creative after all the versatility I have put forward, then nothing more to say. You lil perv. My boyfriend would kill you. I may take a look if you have beautiful toes, though.
  5. Yes, you were talking about MANY of them. Still unfair. She was not making a complete different album every time for sure; as stated, every artist has his/her own style and all has been said and done in pop music. For every Mariah love song, there is a Madonna song calling to dance and a Michael song saving the world. There is a thread about this for Madonna in the General Discussion part as well. You gotta dig deeper to see the variety. As time went by, her albums evolved in their own way. But if you choose not to see and enjoy it, I respect your taste. So out of context. In the end, they used different strategies for marketing as well, and there is nothing wrong with it. Let’s not invent points in the argument. There are lots of things Madonna or another artist did/didn’t whereas Mariah didn’t/did on the other hand. Thanks.
  6. I would love a ‘Frozen’ look pin! ?
  7. Completely agree. Not a song for charts, and it wasn’t meant anyway. Sweet song with heartening and empowering lyrics written for a cause, that’s it! And I listen to it often whenever I want to feel inspired.
  8. What about Hard Candy Fitness? Is it going on as well?
  9. Yes, ignorance and pointless attacks on an artist I like with so much wrong information piss me off. Discounts are not invented by Mariah. It is one of the many strategies present in sales for many years. Get out of your cave! In the end, people BOUGHT them, at their own will. From Madonna (free album giveaway for MDNA Tour, album + single bundle) to Lady Gaga (discount for “Born This Way”) many artists have been using strategies like that. Besides, she/her company did not discount all her singles for sure. Oooh if your friend said that, then oooookay, I have no more supportive argument to such a credible source for sure! ? I gave the example of TMB (and WBT in addition to dozens of other ones) because you said many of her successful singles were “bought” by Sony. Let me repeat: She was married to Mottola for a very short period of time and Sony had already started saboting her career before they separated. Before and after the marriage, she released very successful albums and singles as well, just like the unsuccessul ones. And speaking of unsuccessful, she achieved her first non-top 10 (actually non-top 5) single, ‘Anytime You Need a Friend’, during her marriage and at the height of her success. I guess they could not afford to “buy” it that time! Creativity-wise, I really wonder how many of her albums you have listened to. Her music evolved as she grew, and all her albums have their own characteristics. She made R&B, pop, Hip-Hop, soul, jazz, gospel, Christmas music, even rock in a short period of the first five years into her career. Her subject matter also varied from romance to heartbreak, death to empowerment, social justice to peace. She has her own style and of course some if not many songs will be similar to each other, this is creating your own style and sound. Show me ONE artist whose work is not! If you can really say that “Music Box” and “Rainbow” for example are very similar after you REALLY listen to them, then I am not really taking you seriously.
  10. As many cases, word by word. Except that I actually love ‘Hey You’. I pretty much agree with the list. I love how the author hates “MDNA” ? and that horrible song called ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’. But I disagree with the place of ‘Ghosttown’ and the “Evita” singles.
  11. Same here! And my third queen is third, I love me some Janet!
  12. Complete bullshit and ignorance. No one “bought” her anything. She was married to him from 1993 to 1997, during only “Music Box” and “Daydream” albums, and she has had insanely successful hits before and after that! Does ‘We Belong Together’ and ‘Touch My Body’ ring any bells? She released them much later than she left Sony and signed with Universal. How about ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’, which gets stronger and stronger audience each year? Does Tommy set that as well? From “Music Box” to “Daydream” as well, you know those so-called “bought” albums, how can one underestimate the power of ‘Hero’ or ‘One Sweet Day’ really? They have continually inspired millions and millions of people, earning their legendary statuses all deservingly. And support aside, Sony did its best to tarnish Mariah’s career even starting from “Daydream” era. Unreleased singles with really powerful potential, not listening to her ideas and will of direction, trying to put her in a mold... Even from post-“Daydream” albums which were completely ignored by Sony, she managed to score hits such as ‘Heartbreaker’ (which was shelved after a short time of release to give priority to sales of the album), ‘My All’, ‘Honey’ etc. The post-Sony era I already gave examples of success, not even mentioning how he sabotaged her career during “Glitter” era through Jennifer Lopez (hence “I don’t know her.”) and Destiny’s Child. So, do your homework before you utter garbage. Madonna is not the only rightfully successful artist in the world!
  13. I would take out more than one: Everybody, Burning Up, Hollywood, Miles Away to replace with: Rain, You’ll See, American Life, Give It 2 Me This way, we would create my standard version of the album. I also have my 3-CD “deluxe” version. ?
  14. You basically said you did not understand how “there” (!) on the top 100 list, supporting your argument with that you know almost no songs by Rihanna or Mariah. Not liking artists is one thing, and discrediting them is a whole different thing. You’re welcome.
  15. I prefer to stay more skeptical about someone I don’t know. She might have accepted the offer on condition that he paid for her Kabbalah foundation. Not completely senseless.
  16. It is probably fake, we will never know though unless Madonna makes a statement about it. What I laughed at was the word “radical nutjob” which absolutely describes this clown. He had a cult of heavily plastic-surgeried women called “pussies” and they appeared on his TV shows talking religious nonsense and all of a sudden dancing etc. True freakshow.
  17. Adnan Oktar, a very eccentric Turkish religious cult leader, who was recently arrested on grounds of establishing an organization with the purpose of committing crimes, had reportedly donated 300.000 USD to her Kabbalah foundation for the sake of having a chat with her for 15 minutes during her visit to Istanbul on her 2012 MDNA Tour. Reportedly they read Torah together. Thoughts? Would you spend this money for 15 minutes with her?
  18. How I miss the days artists used to release at least six singles from an album, each with a stunning video, tons of official remixes, some promo singles, videos from concerts, physical single releases...
  19. Not for just one show of course. I am an avid collector and I am trying to acquire as many items of the artists I love as possible. I have many different formats (vinyl, cassette, CD, VHS, DVD) of the same releases, even various among themselves (Japanese releases etc.). So I would probably go ahead and buy the LD releases of the DVDs and VHSs that I already possess.
  20. You’re right. Being a never-bootleg-buying person, I guess I will just get enough with what we already have until come hell and high water and they decide to release them on DVD. I also love VHS, but never experienced LaserDisc before. Do you think I can buy a LD player if I want to? Are they still available?
  21. Yes, I know. But I mean the format, this being the DVD. Besides, quality of BAT is low and VT is not the complete show. I want it all!!
  22. One of my favorite tours! (+) * Inclusion of many pre-“American Life” songs, especially the long lost ones such as ‘Crazy for You’, ‘Hanky Panky’, ‘Material Girl’ etc. This was actually the abrigded unofficial Greatest Hits Tour everybody had been waiting for. When you include some other long lost songs from the next two tours, you come close to a better version of “Celebration”. * The documentary. I know some people loathe it, but I just love every minute of it. * The ‘Vogue’ intro, still gives me goosebumps. * The costumes, especially the corset. My fave is the lilac one. (-) * Lack of “American Life” songs such as ‘Intervention’, ‘X-Static Process’, and especially ‘Love Profusion’. ‘I’m So Stupid’ would have been fine, too, see IGTTYAS. On the other hand, I could have lived without ‘Mother and Father’ as well. * Lack of a DVD release. I know we have IGTTYAS and the whole show is available online, but still... I am a bit old fashioned guy about releases and I want my items physically. Then again, I know we have worse cases such as Virgin Tour and Blond Ambition Tour. * Countries visited were limited and almost the same as the previous one. She thankfully resumed her true world tours after CT on.
