  1. And like that it's gone...I am really into any American Life tbh @wtg1987 you keep asking for new stuff and re-releases but I think you only be pleased with a 4 CD digipack of the WTG tour and the videos in laserdisc
  2. I don't think only two are good, the whole album is great. BUT it's an album with a sound of its time. It sounds so 80s. And if you are not keen for that or you discover it later not when it came out , it won't resound with you personally, much
  3. well the album has 10 songs and 7 were singles or promotional releases
  4. I was about to comment with he same example of Beyonce. If you are a photographer on these event you take 1000s of pictures, you shot about 50 each time. Giving you half eye closed, someone talking and lots of bad and weird angles. The lighting on the photo they showed wasn't flattering. It created a strong shadow on the side and the camera is able show each pore and the glossiness of the make up. She looks like she was talking and her chin was closed to the shirt, giving her a puffy look. I'm pretty sure from that streak of pictures taken they were better ones but being a tabloid they went for the unflattering one to create noise and traffic.
  5. I'm ambivalent now that I listening to it properly. I like it but it gets a bit monotonous after a while, I enjoy the snack edit version.
  6. Mate, those are articles about the 'running joke' the fans saying he is always with younger girls and comparing him to other celebrities that do the same. Considering every Hollywood rom com for the past 20 years has always a lead man romancing a female actor 15 years younger. I can't see how anyone can be outrage or alarmed about it. Meanwhile : 'This is no coincidence, a Madonna friend told The Post: “She likes the idea of a guy being younger than her daughter. It announces her desirability to the world. Some people may see her as a vampire, feeding off of the young, but, in her mind, she is forever youthful and this helps to prove it.” Her latest romances have seen enormous age gaps from 29 to 36 years - with professional dancer Ahlamalik only two years older than Madonna's eldest child, 23-year-old Lourdes Leon And that's not even the issue I was bringing up but how her age and 'not wanting to age gracefully' it's what make new news and why people are dragging her and judging her. It's a personal attack to her physical appearance and how she show herself or choices she made.
  7. indeed they are saying that he always date younger women they are not saying something is wrong with him or he is drinking babies blood. Feminism is not the opposite of misogyny or patriarchy they both can live on the same spaces.
  8. You can choose for only people that follows you to comment (great to stop bots + trolls) But also you can limit unwanted interactions , when comments are hidden until they approve them
  9. yeah on the two occasions and usually is about doing 'women stuff' to their face. Mostly targeting gay or ambiguous celebrities. They don't made it about not agreeing with their age or age naturally. Even with Mickey Rourke tabloids apologized for his facework related to his mental health and being a boxer. Nothing to do with not ageing gracefully.
  10. The problem is that the phrase ' age gracefully ' is misogynistic it's only used on women , like they have to be beautiful until they are 25 then become a mother then become a grandma. Men don't have any pressure about ageing gracefully or naturally. In fact men that still have (younger ) partners and a public active sexual life are celebrated.
  11. She has been always criticized for looking to muscley or 'masculine' She was judged for the clothes she worn or for her looks. Before she didn't have an ass and big arms, now she has a big ass and big cheeks, there's always something to comment about. People confuse the social platforms , instead of a way to communicate is a way to give your own opinions about anything. Like you have an entitlement . And that's okay on debating forums or places open to discussion but nowhere else.
  12. Patriarchy is a system/ structure on society where privileges and elements of power fell into the man, the male. The male delegates , argues and places his opinions and preferences over those of the female. In a patriarchal society the women have to appeal to the men with beauty, self care, servitude and submission. That's her responsibility. While the man holds his power based on wealth the women need to be beautiful, available , compliant. When Madonna complains about the patriarchy means about how her beauty, her sex appeal and her presentation has to be always scrutinized and judged based on these references. She can't be wealthy, independent, smart. She can't choose who to sleep with or how to look after herself. She's trapped on a society that push the beauty card on her but she gets criticized for doing as she pleases. And as you clear gave an example in your own charade, men still have their own opinions about women looks and think they have the right to tell them how they suppose to look or to be. They have to be responsible. For what? To please men with the same mentality like yours? What embarrassment. You have guys like Mick Jager having a baby at 73 and everyone cheering about his manhood but then discussing how Madonna can't age gracefully . Check yourself, as @Roland Barthes suggested. Go for a walk and re read what you wrote again. And go for another walk.
  13. Yeah precisely Queen of house and gospel house. Also don't forget that they were part of the NY club scene and places like Sound Factory house of Junior Vasquez, who was involved in Rescue Me. Deee lite were doing music since 1986 but Groove is in Heart came up the end of 1989 . They started getting attention when they released the album in 1990 and they had a revamp of than song and the album after that. Lady Miss Kier had beef with Dmitry (they were dating for a while) and people working with them were uncomfortable with the drama. Towa had an accident during a concert and took the opportunity to rest and leave. But he also said he wasn't paid right, supported by the manager that sued them. I can see the rivalry between Mazar and Kier
  14. Not really, Madonna dipping into Gospel House is nothing new (Like a Prayer) and it was pretty wide popular at the time. You can find similar style in artist like Adeva, Dajae, Kathy Brown ..I mean Gospel House is a category itself: I'd been a huge fan of Deee lite since day one. They were influenced by NY dance scene, they were part of it. And were working with the sound and the most creative people at the time. Their music is filled with samples from funk, soul, disco. And Lady Miss Kier got the vocals from the old school house . Gospel House being linked to the gospel in church terminology too. That's what you have the terms like "House' My house (the house of lord) Preach, Believe, Save me etc.. There are lots of house themes that say I believe, I believe in the power etc I don't think the ways the songs are sung are similar at all. Miss Kier goes in high pitch alternating the vocals for long creating a melody The guitars had a 60s distortion, drums beats, funk meets disco. Rescue me's I believe is shorter and within Madonna's range what it made it more gospel (and similar on sound to Kiers vocals) is the back vocals that are black singers doing proper Gospel house. The idea of Rescue me, believe, power of love etc are all linked to the Gospel house terminology. The music arrangement is totally different , being more house than funk and her deeper voice during the 'reading part' is similar to that of house. The Immaculate Collection came out in November 1990 and World Clique came out a couple of months before. Considering the technology at the time I think is a bit of a push to think she was taking notes to release a song from an album that it was only popular by one hit. Instead I think she was more influenced by the NY club scene and trying again like she did with Vogue. Adopting the sound of what's popular at that time. Vocal house music. Power of Love was sampled a lot after the video released (with the single mix) but mostly the Lady Miss Kier's chant
  15. "I’m really into Guy Bourdin right now" 4 Years later..
  16. The issue was the timing because both songs came out in 1990. In fact too close to each other for Madonna taking notes. Deee lite were pretty popular with "World Clique" but they started as a indie dance event from NY and got popular quickly. The record label wanted them to tour a lot and perform gigs. And while Lady was up for it, Dmitry and Towa were'nt so much. Specially Towa tei, he was the first one detaching himself from the whole thing. Overall they were pretty fresh and weren't pay right for what they were doing or their sales. The second album was a flop and the third, when they went for the rave mode, only had Towa involved in one song. Miss Kier and Dmitry fell out with some emotional drama in between .They had as well issues with samples (that Towa used) not being clear for reproduction in other countries. That's why even today is hard to find some of their songs in stream compilations. Lady has been always inclined to bring 'em back for a new project and recently Dimitry said it could be fun, but Towa in an interview few years ago said that he didn't want to be involved with anything Deee Lite related. ( But he did use the samples for the Kylie song) They had been printing their records and making it available in stream, so who knows
  17. I always thought it was linked to the same messages of SEX. Safe sex, religion vs sexuality, sexuality freedom, AIDS. It shows people trapped by ideas, religion, death. People attacking others, lovers killing each other. I think it tells the darker side of the common Madonna message about love and unity.
  18. Yeah that's what I always thought he was the last one changing clothes
  19. That's interesting I never knew and I'm a Negresses Vertes fan. The Orbit mix of Zobi is so good.
  20. This has been happening since forever, people do mixes and used her voice or remixed her songs. This is not the first mix with a simple vocal feature or distorted vocals. It's a dance song not a Madonna song. They use a sample from another song. It's been always the case with house, techno tracks ie. Loleatta Holloway's "Love sensation" I personally will never consider or have the stomach to listen to any of the Otto Von Wernherr work, but lots of fans consider that 'early years' ( Gods!gods!gods!gods!) The difference is that she is putting on credits, making the money and gets some social boost in platforms without having to create new content and reach to a much younger demographic. It's a good call and I doubt it will be use on her own catalog. Also it doesn't sound too different from that Oakenfield mix tbh
  21. I had a dream two nights ago, that she released a mini album/EP with about 5-6 songs. The cover was diagonally cut in half yellow and black, and she was in the middle like a cutout image with glasses on and a black hoody, bit of like the Gaultier's Where's the party from the blonde ambition. Reminded me of the Mondino photos with the PVC. It was like a chunky square box, kinda plastic. And the songs were all dance , sounds like the Royksopp/Robyn EP. Anyway, talking about Royksopp they released 3 full albums treating them like songs drops rather than singles. And other artists do that now. Drop songs, videos and then after you have few made a bundle album. That way you keep feeding the stream and creating engagement. I wouldn't be surprised if she goes on that direction. I mean if Rupaul comes with an album per season and some extra in between. I'm sure M can make this possible.
