Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones

That would be the most awful thing she’s ever done musically -
Of course, it’s a given that it’s your opinion. But what I said is that it’s a matter of preference, which is different. Since you worded it like the inclusion of Vogue on IB is an objective mistake or some kind of error that should be corrected
-
That’s your personal preference. I think it was a great closer and they integrated it perfectly

From the original press release: ”The deal encompasses her ENTIRE Sire/Maverick/Warner catalog” And below: ”the new pact includes 17 studio albums plus singles, SOUNDTRACK RECORDINGS, live albums, and compilations.” To me this sounds like it encompasses I’m Breathless as well
-
It’s not. It was recorded way after LAP was completed and with a different intention than the songs on the album. There are similarities to the mixes but not to anything on the actual album. Also the lyrical content is totally out of sync with the rest of the songs. Like A Prayer is a concept album dealing with specific themes and closes full circle with Act Of Contrition. There’s no room for anything else on it. Also there’s a conceptual intent of Vogue as a closer for I’m breathless that was brilliantly done. By transitioning with Following part II from the period sound to contemporary. While keeping the theme of the album through the lyrics.

I don’t know if Vogue fits in with the rest of this album. I feel like it’s the perfect closer to I’m Breathless

Her best album from the 80s by far. Every song is amazing and had single potential. And the closing with Act Of Contrition is brilliant. If I had one complaint is that Stephen Bray did a pretty bad job as a producer on Express Yourself and KIT. Luckily they were both saved by Shep eventually.

Recycled from where?

The difference is that Adele is huge right now and Madonna was not. And it’s also the lead single which always does much better. I do get why Ghosttown didn’t do well but I still can’t understand why Living For Love wasn’t bigger. And also I don’t get the argument that the leaks had anything to do with the success of that album. If anything that just created more promotion and hype.
-
I’m sure they released BIM cause they realized Ghosttown is not going anywhere very early on. And yes I agree, it should have been the lead single with a better video. I don’t think it was seen as a joke overall.
-
What are you talking about? BIM is the only song on that all over the place album that had any mainstream appeal. And the world turned their back on ghosttown because it’s a sappy ballad.

The only Saving Grace in Madonna’s favor is that she has experience in reinventing her old hits from doing it so much during her tours. But I seriously doubt this is meant to be a full scale project at least for now. I think she’s just testing the waters. But I am worried that, if this will be successful, she’ll do a full scale project and that would be terrible

Yokohama was filmed as a special release for the Japanese market. Just like WTG and Girlie Show. Nice was an exclusive broadcast for HBO and the Paris shows were filmed exclusively for Truth Or Dare. The only other show that was filmed was Barcelona. And that was an interesting decision. It was broadcasted in Spain and UK. Aside from that no other shows were filmed professionally as far as we know. The footage we are getting is the video feed for the screens in the stadium. Which exist for every single show.

Well I’m saying it based on history. It never worked. Gaga’s reimagined Born This Way is terrible and so is Michael Jackson’s Thriller. As much as I dislike it, I get why she’s doing this Frozen remake with Swae Lee. It’s a good idea and a cute marketing gimmick. It even has a slight chance to be a success for her. But a full scale project, forget about it! The “kids” won’t give a rats ass. Instead she’ll get even more ridiculed, people will take her less seriously and she’ll alienate another chunk of her loyal fan base. Kids just don’t care about music that was popular before they were born. I was in my 30s when I started listening to legacy acts like Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones or Les Zeppelin. Her streaming numbers are not bad at all and have you seen how many reaction videos her work has on YouTube? Probably more than any other legacy musician. She needs to just make new music that’s good and unique and consolidate her body of work further as a serious musician. Nor chase clout with cheap collaborations
-
Why is there any need for her to attract young people by butchering her classics? This all sounds horrendous and cheapens her legacy. I (and many of her real fans) would never ever buy stream or support such a project. And I’m a huge fan of Swae Lee, Nicky, Cardi etc. I’d love for her to grow old as an artist with dignity and stop chasing chasing chart success in this manner. If people can’t appreciate her music for what it is it’s their loss. She doesn’t need anymore validation at this point
