  1. Not sure this was positive; it wasn't negative either but based on just this blurb, I took it to mean - "why does she continue to focus on hiding her age" - she's suggesting that Producing art or discussing the experiences Madonna has had, as only someone older can have, would be more interesting than constantly being concerned by her aesthetics.

That's how I took it. Madonna is more than aesthetics - wish she would dig alittle deeper since she has the experience and age to, which not many of her peers do.

    Something like that.

  2. I love Robyn - she's great! Some girls doesn't have the catchy melodies Robyn churns out.

    Of the Orbit MDNA tracks:

Love Spent and Falling Free are just beautiful.

Gang Bang is great but haven't proactively listened to it since 2013.

There are significantly worse songs on MDNA than the remaining Orbit tracks but these Orbit tracks are unmemorable.

  3. It was amazing, she was singing the most accurate and emotional song for Prince and she did well to not choose any funky song. Smart, correct, respectful, she was in her world, she didn't tried to be Prince, squealing or dancing like him  :jamming:  (altough she couldn't do it, let's be honest).

On the other hand she also chose a song that takes some serious vocal chops to sing....which also isnt her strong suit.

I could have actually pictured M doing one of his upbeat tracks (ie: Let's Go Crazy) in honor of him and to help lift everyones spirits - she could have invited a popular guitarist to join (maybe one from one of Prince's many bands) and also have Sheila E join to do percussion.

The intro to lets go crazy would have been perfect (and she would agree since she used it) and she could have just told people to get out of their seats and celebrate a genius. boom! and I can picture her singing that track perfectly.

  4. Maybe the opposite as it's a very "clean" album compared to the "thick" ROL. But it's def from the same family and same era.

Oh and I'm the only one who vote for Shanti! Just to defend it. Maybe my fav of the album are Skin, Frozen & To have and not to hold but Shanti is a one of a kind I absolutely adore. Music is F* awesome on it. F* good track!!

I have an update on the friend - so he liked Erotica but I dont think I gave him enough time to let that one sink since I wanted to test out "Music."

He listened to "Music" and he LOVED it. - I asked what his fave was and he said, the whole album but "Nobodys Perfect" stood out especially.  This was just after two days of listening so I'll get an update from him.  He's still obsessed with the ROL album.  This is a 300lb "worlds strongest man" competitior who typically listens to Rammstein and Depeche Mode.

  5. Hi,I wanted to share with you with my music video to Confessions Tour's version of 'Erotica'. I have spend a lot of time during last few weeks putting it all together and I think that many of the Madonna's fans would love it. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ku2jrGTW7yUI hope you will like it as much as I liked the first Madonna's concert I have ever been to (last year's Rebel Heart Tour in Prague),W.

Excellent work! Very well done / great detail!

  6. Isnt it true the "Love Makes the World Go Round" was initially intended to be the first single from True Blue?  I think I read that somewhere....

Ok here's my worst - not including demos and also not including "Im Breathless"

    • [*]Bday Song [*]Best Friend - she has demos with better production. [*]I Dont Give A - This song is dead to me - wont even add it to my spotify saved list. [*]Love Profusion [*]Holy Water [*]Body Shop [*]Dont Stop [*]I Know It [*]Hey You [*]One More Chance

  7. Its a great collection looking back on it.

That said, at the time, I remember thinking WOW, how could they leave Who's that Girl off of this...It was everywhere, the song, the tour, and the movie (the movie's failure should have nothing to do with the song not being included here).

Cherish should have been left off and Who's That Girl included.

Do you guys remember the supplemental cd release called "the holiday collection" which included the following tracks:

    1. Holiday (full)

    2. True Blue

    4. Whos that Girl

    5. Causing A Commotion

  8. i actually have a few examples but the one ill share here is "True Blue"

Growing up I HATED this song and the video and the big poofy white hair....not a fan of any part of this track/video at all.

I'd say roughly 5 years ago, I reheard this track....and saw it in a new light - her vocals are beautiful and the melody - I have this track on regular rotation and have no clue what I was thinking - awesome song!

  9. You should've suggested Music instead of AL.... AL is like the opposite of ROL. I love AL more though. Confessions is poppy but I wouldn't call it generic if you listen past the first 2 tracks, or its subtleties.

I can see why people who arent so into pop would enjoy ROL more than the rest, but to me Madonna is pop and there's nothing wrong with that.

youre probably right - i just remember when listening to the Music album the first time, I was not as satisfied....especially coming off the Ray of Light era.  That said, there are many tracks that I love from Music but rarely go back to that album.

He's going to try out "Erotica" next.  Ill suggest "Music" after he's done with Erotica and if he's still willing to listen to any more Madonna.

He just told me yesterday that hes still obsessed with ROL and it tugs at his heart.  The only song he's not too fond of is CPG.

  10. CDs have the advantage of being the medium that can be most easily transferred to digital format. Releasing vinyls only will cost more and will most likely get even less sales due to the fact that they pander to a small fraction of an already smaller group of potential buyers.

Just wanted to chime in on this one - so Vinyl is literally saving the music industry.  Revenue of vinyl has surpassed streaming for record companies.  Hard to get into the "whys" but there is something that gets people excited about that type of physical product.

Another study the just came out also states 48% of record buyers arent even listening to the vinyl but are collecting.

So for me personally, I havent "bought" a music item in years - was a huge Madonna collector - but the whole streaming/spotify bit is sooo easy that I cant justify buying a cd which I will never look at.  Interestingly enough though, I've gotten into collecting vinyl - dont ask why - totally psychological.  I dont listen to them as I prefer the quick spotify experience but certainly love finding amazing limited edition collectors items that are scare or limited in quantity.  That gets me to buy it.
