Madonna, Beyoncé, Rihanna and other artists publicly throwing their support behind Jay Z’s new streaming service, Tidal, have been receiving mixed reactions from fans. According to their website, Tidal is the first music streaming service that combines the best High Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and expertly Curated Editorial. They currently have two memberships: $9.99 a month for standard quality sound, or $19.99 a month for “lossless high-fidelity sound.†However, the co-ordinated effort has been hit by a backlash from fans for employing activism tactics to promote an app which helps musicians earn more money rather than using their voice to publicise a genuine charity campaign.     Well, high definition is the point. It kind of already exists with websites like Qobuz, for an example. And yes, there's no point listening to high definition files with basic equipment, as you need specific equipment to fully enjoy the high definition. Nothing new about this. If you listen to Björk's Medulla in 5.1 with the proper equiment, it's not exactly the same experience as the regular CD with basic equipment. That's actually not a revolution. And you don't listen to HD music with headphones. Oh, and high definition has absolutely nothing to do with loudness.

    Exactly. Besides, there's a difference between the decent quality available on Spotify, Deezer, etc.., and actual high definition as advertised by Tidal. And I think it totally makes sense that big names i the industry are carrying it, as not so many people would care or even pay attention if this was advertised by musical nobodies.

    It was nothing personal, it just turns out you were the to bring it up and to call the pic gross. I know I would have had the exact same reaction if someone else said this. So I think people were not coming to you, they were coming to what you said.

    How do both situations even compare ? If I post a photo of a war scene, should I compare it to actually sending people to a real war ? Anyways, I guess it's another case of "to each his own".

    Well, unflattering wasn't the first that popped out. Gross was. That's different. I have yet to understand how a naked body (total or partial, male or female) can be descibed as gross. That's actually the only thing that bothers me - as I kinda question why Mert Alas is posting these pics '-' I mean : on what purpose ?

    Saying a pic in unflattering is really different than saying someone is ugly. We all know Madonna doesn't look bad at all, yet she has her unflattering photos too. Saying a pic is unflattering is not an ad hominem attack. Calling someone ugly is.
