Universal had this shelved for years after they scored the rights to it and she put a stop to it happening. After an official announcement last summer there's no way they will delay this again. We should be thankful they're working on script re-writes and pre-production without her while she works on her tour. I'm certain they told her to take a back seat for now until filming begins (which I would imagine they will start filming by the end of the year).

So what's next? Will they create the artwork and begin production on the release with securing rights and adding bonus features? Or is she gonna go straight into the biopic?

We'll get something similar to Like A Prayer 30th anniversary - a Spotify release with missing tracks and a filter over the album artwork.

At least now it's clear...streaming in October. Physical release probably in November 2022.

I can't agree or disagree since I didn't see the show. However, her live singing hasn't been good since Confessions Tour, she had a severe knee injury which interfered with choreography (let's not forget how much she slowed down during the RHT), the talking bits were likely inserted to give her a break and connect more with her fans for an intimate theatre show which was always her intention, etc. Sounds like you were expecting an MDNA production in a small venue.

Which show did you attend where she acted like this?

Hopefully an official announcement will be made soon with the streaming date and/or physical release date. I refuse to believe Netflix or whatever would wait that long when it's already finished. Maybe streaming will come sooner and the DVD/Blu-ray is coming in October? One can hope...

Supposedly they offered the role and did a script reading recently. Is this finally happening? I hope so so she can end the tour edit and move on to this.

Hopefully they oversee every step of the way, provide producers and writers to call the shots, not give her so much control, and as I stated before, give her a deadline. If they put all their faith into her then we're doomed. But it's Universal so I doubt they would allow that to happen.

Could be but I highly doubt Universal would allow her to take so long to edit. They're gonna wanna push the movie out before people lose interest. Their best bet is to announce a release date before production ends; that way she doesn't have a choice but to move forward and likely with help from professional editors.

What's the scoop on the movie now? Madonna is obviously obsessed with editing the tour so are they waiting till she finishes to continue production on script re-writes and casting?

I wonder if they have a deadline in place? I think the reason she's taking her sweet ass time is because they didn't have a plan secured when they started editing, hence her constantly tweaking things. At least with Confessions Tour and Re-Invention Tour they had to rush editing because of release plans (Confessions being aired 2 months later and IGTTYAS being released before starting the next album).

The way this project could have been done 6 months ago if they just worked instead of shooting the shit. I get it's fun to chat with friends but damn...

I think she just really wanted the world to take her movie seriously. Rumour has it she purposely had the song start late in the credits so it wouldn't be eligible for an Academy Award. But yet she still won a Golden Globe.

I highly doubt she recorded anything else. She mentioned how Guy Oseary had to twist her arm to record Masterpiece as she didn't want any of her music in the film to distract from her directing project.

Did y‘all really think she wouldn't do any B&W shots?

She's doing reshoots singing Candy Shop to have it added in with CGI because she realized this was reh first tour it wasn't performed in.

I'm most excited for Extreme Occident - I keep hearing about dancing staircases and I'm curious to see what that's like.

And here comes the color grading - the final step for the film! Should be done soon - I think it only took a week or 2 for them to color grade the MDNA Tour.
