Steve Blame interviews Jonas Åkerlund (2022)
topic replied to MDNA22's Starchild in News ✖ Discussion
I hope she hires him again to film the Celebration tour - he did such a fantastic job with Confession tour and the RIT footage in the documentary -
So hard - love all of them but probably Confession tour I the best - amazing intro with the Parkour dancers, the crawl down the Catwalk and how she has the whole arena in the palm of her hand for the audience participation part and how it was a climax to such an amazing show possibly her best tour and left the audience on such a high But I love Star Academy too as she is so relaxed but on point, great vocals and energy without the need for and dancers just her performing the song and she looked incredible Love the EMA performance too because from the first few seconds in it was like 'Madonna is back' after the more serious American Life era and the audience reaction is brilliant Love the Grammies as she looks so great and the intro with the Gorillaz is fantastic

Looks like that actress who was in footballers wives and East Enders
-
The Santa falling off a chair was probably done as a PR stunt lol
-
Interesting Ray of Light seemed to be the high point of the show with the audience - the show I went to it was Hung Up that got the biggest reaction
-
She' a night sort of person so not surprised she is often starting the show late where there are no curfews - which tour did she start with the consistently late starts maybe Drowned World?
-
She's always late in USA
-
I hope so - but wouldn't surprise me every date is being filmed and the film of the show has footage from every show
-
That Burning Up/I Love New York remix sounds even more incredible the more listens! Fantastic remix - I so hope she keeps working with Stuart Price
-
Probably will be the last show that she films in Mexico - I hope her voice and energy is as good then as now if she does and they don't mess it up as no chance to film it again at another stop on the tour
-
Lol - must be a Stuart Price creation - sounds so good!
-
Brilliant edit. - loved that they included the choreography for Into The Groove (13:47 on the Missy Elliot lines) that I think she only did on the opening night?
-
She seems so much more herself and 'Madonna' again on this tour listening to her speeches compared to the last few years and whole Madame X period and period that followed. Maybe it was her injury, painkillers and influence of dancer boyfriend from the tour at the time
-
I hope she doesn't do Glastonbury she will be too nervous with it being live and almost every live TV performance or one off in recent years hasn't really gone that well - but she is fantastic on the Celebration tour

Favorite Madonna performance on a tv show

This is so hard - between these ones Ray of Light - Oprah Frozen - National Lottery Vogue - MTV Music Awards Fever/Bad Girl/ - Saturday Night Live Bedtime Story. - Brit Awards Hung Up & Get Together - Star Academy Would have to say both Hung Up and Get Together - perfect performance and live vocals and she looked amazing -
Great 4k quality for most of this one from 2 cameras/one show
-
Agree lol - seemed like it was not even rehearsed
-
I hope they record the soundboard from each show so can use her best vocal performance of the tour for the DVD/official film of the tour
-
Basically Ticketmaster have legalised what ticket touts did previously illegally ripping people off by inflating the ticket prices through 'dynamic pricing' - the only positive is that you know it's a genuine ticket
-
10:40 is early for her US dates? Think she has been known to start at midnight before ?
-
Confesssions for sure

Favorite " Open Your Heart " performance of all time

Who's That Girl and Blond Ambition second -
I hope so too - am really optimistic for what she might come up with now she is back with Warners
-
I agree - I think Warners would have guided her better on those 3 albums to make the most of the material and get it really polished before they were released as there are good moments in all of them - help with final mixes and production that could have been improved on, track selection to only the best tracks, single choices and timing, quality of remixes and promotion. I remember reading with American Life Warners asked her to do more work on some of the mixes before it's release. I think Interscope didn't care about the music and did nothing to help Madonna continue her successful recording career during her time with them. I think we got 3 unfinished albums that could have been so much better if properly supported by the record label with effort and expertise - but impression is that Interscope put no effort in and didn't have the same expertise to help guide an artist in making a final version of their record in terms of mixes and track selection and promotional clout that Warners have.
