  1. Madonna is about the most over ground pop star on the planet. She is known, quite rightly, as The Queen Of Pop. This issue in this thread is one or two have their heads firmly stuck up their own backsides. Madonna is not, and has never been, a niche, an exclusive, or a underground artist but certain (toxic) parts of her fandom seem to think that they are elite when they are quite the opposite. one of the main reasons that Madonna is one of the worlds most successful female artists of all time is that she appeals to everybody.
  2. Madonna, Dua Lipa and Coldplay will headline Glastonbury next year as two female artists top festival bill for first time ever https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12710391/Madonna-Dua-Lipa-Coldplay-headline-Glastonbury-year-two-female-artists-festival-bill-time-ever.html After months of discussions, it has been agreed that they will all appear on the world-famous Pyramid Stage, with Madonna closing the music extravaganza on Sunday night. British singing sensation Ms Lipa will be Friday’s top act, and Coldplay will play on Saturday. Organisers are said to be ‘thrilled’ with the line-up, which will be the first time that two female artists have headlined in Glastonbury’s history. One festival insider said: ‘It’s the dream line-up, a brilliant mix of different music and different atmospheres. Then, of course, you have Madonna on the final night, which will be epic.’ It will be the first time that Madonna, 65, has performed at the festival, which is held at Worthy Farm, Somerset. For Ms Lipa, 28, it will be her first appearance as a headline act. Earlier this year she found herself embroiled in controversy after she failed to join Sir Elton John on the Glastonbury stage for their duet Cold Heart. Fans claimed there must have been a falling-out between the pair, though Ms Lipa insisted she was working in New York. Coldplay have headlined four times before – in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2016. Glastonbury bosses have been accused of choosing too many male acts to headline. Last year the line-up was all male, with Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Sir Elton John taking the top slots. Speaking last month, organiser Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, revealed that a huge US star’s team, believed to be Madonna’s, had got in touch with her saying that she was free. She said: ‘2024 is still a little up in the air, and I thought it was taking shape, then last week I just got a call, and this is what happens if you wait a little longer, because often we’ll be booked up from July. ‘This year we’re holding out for a little bit longer and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year, and I was like, “Oh my God, this is incredible.” Thank God we held the slot.’ Addressing the lack of women headliners, Ms Eavis added: ‘I’ve always been really passionate about gender split [on festival line-ups] and I think, actually, our problem was that I’d been so outspoken about it that having a year when there wasn’t a female sent people a bit mad – or some people. ‘And we did have a female – she pulled out and we replaced them with Guns N’ Roses. But everyone knows that it’s top of my list. ‘It is difficult with female artists because there aren’t enough headliners. But we’re also creating them. We’re putting the bands and female artists on smaller stages and bringing them through all the time. And who knows? Next year we might get two. And certainly, I can say that the Legend is female.’ Glastonbury 2024 will be held from June 26–30
  3. WHAT? What a stupid and moronic thing to say. Emily is the daughter of the founder of the Festival Michael Evis and I have met her twice at the Festival. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Eavis
  4. I've heard of Slane Castle but I am not sure of the size of any events it holds there. As for Glasto... Glastonbury Festival is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world and a template for all the festivals that have come after it. The festival takes place in a beautiful location – 900 acres in the Vale of Avalon, an area steeped in symbolism, mythology and religious traditions dating back many hundreds of years. It is where King Arthur may be buried, where Joseph of Arimathea is said to have walked and where ley lines converge. And the site is enormous - more than a mile and a half across, with a perimeter of about eight and a half miles. In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and other arts. Leading pop and rock artists have headlined, alongside thousands of others appearing on smaller stages and performance areas. Films and albums have been recorded at the festival, and it receives extensive television and newspaper coverage. Glastonbury is attended by around 200,000 people, requiring extensive security, transport, water, and electricity-supply infrastructure. If Madonna was going to ever play at a UK festival then Glastonbury would be the one I would have thought. Its the largest in the world and it is true to say that they have bands and artists begging to play there. Such is the prestige of a main stage slot that no artist ever gets paid their normal fee, none. Once all costs are paid a good slice of the profit is given to worthy causes and charities and the festival to raised millions of pounds for these over the years.
  5. Emily Eavis, like her father before her, has always been vocal in wanting Madonna at Glasto so its hardly tenuous. It really depends on Madonna. It she wants to play there and what demands she makes (Its a festival on a farm and not a stadium).
  6. Glastonbury NEVER has to resort to such bull, it ALWAYS sells out within days. It is the Biggest festival in the UK.
  7. Normally The BBC has broadcast rights and covers most of the festival. Some, but not all, clips of various songs will get uploaded to youtube but not a whole artists set.
  8. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12647267/Legendary-superstar-set-headline-Glastonbury.html *A little warning - If this happens, tickets for Glosto sell out FAST, and I do mean FAST. They go on sale on November 5th. It's not long until the long-awaited Glastonbury 2024 tickets go on sale on November 5. And according to reports Madonna is set to headline the festival next June in Worthy Farm in Somerset. According to The Sun, she is in advanced talks to take to the Pyramid stage in the summer. The singer, 65, has never performed at the iconic music festival and her team are reportedly planning a huge show which would be sure to go down in Glastonbury history. Madonna would be following in the footsteps of the legendary Sir Elton John who closed the festival last June with his final ever show on his Farewell tour. A source from the publication revealed: 'Negotiations are well underway between Glasto organiser Emily Eavis and Madonna's manager Guy Oseary. 'Both teams are keen to make it happen and striking a deal shouldn't be a problem. 'Emily was blown away watching Madonna perform in London and is desperate to get her on the Pyramid Stage next year.' The Like A Virgin hitmaker kicked off her Celebration Tour last weekend with sold-out shows at the O2 Arena. During the show, Madonna sent temperatures soaring as she hit the stage in satin lingerie and writhed on stage with a whole host of topless dancers. In the audience herself, Emily shared her excitement after the show online as she wrote: 'She's back! Incredible.' And fans are convinced it was a sign that Madonna is top of the organiser's list. According to the star's schedule her 78-show tour will finish next April meaning she has a nice break to recuperate and rehearse ready for Glastonbury. Last June revellers enjoyed the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Guns N' Roses and Elton John, yet Emily faced backlash after no female headliner made the lineup. She explained at the time: 'We did have a female headliner, and she unfortunately had to pull out . . . it changes all the time. 'But next year it's looking like we've got two female headliners, so fingers crossed.' Taylor Swift was thought to have pulled out over a change in plans as he tour dates seemed to coincide perfectly with Glastonbury at the time.
  9. Madonna is 'facing a £300,000 fine after breaking key rule' during Celebration Tour concert at the O2 Arena Daily Mail News Report Whoops.... There are some cool pictures in this report. Madonna is reportedly facing a £300,000 fine after breaking a key rule during her Celebration Tour concert at the O2 Arena on Sunday. The singer, 65, was due to finish her show at 10.30pm but it over-ran until 11pm when it finished abruptly, missing out four songs on her setlist. It's believed the show was cut short because it ran over the venue's curfew, which states that events in the arena finish no later than 11pm Monday-Saturday and no later than 10.30pm on Sunday. During the show, Madonna sent temperatures soaring as she hit the stage in satin lingerie and writhed on stage with a whole host of topless dancers. 'Gutted' fans missed out on the chance to hear Like A Virgin, B***h I'm Madonna, Holiday and show closer Celebration. Despite cutting her show short, Madonna still overran by 30 minutes, meaning fans were at risk of missing the last tube home. The late running show means she could be fined a total of £300,000, The Sun reports. This is due to curfew rules from TfL and arena operators AEG proclaiming fines of £10,000 a minute. However, Greenwich council has said its midnight curfew wasn't broken and that it doesn't intend to investigate the breach. MailOnline has reached out to representatives for Madonna for comment. Furious fans pointed out that Madonna would have had time to complete her two-hour show if she'd appeared on stage earlier, with fans still waiting for her to appear at 9pm. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, they vented their frustration at being 'robbed of a finale' after paying up to £1300 for tickets. Concertgoers fumed: '@Madonna please start a bit earlier for your next two @TheO2 shows! Cutting the end of your show is short changing your loyal fans! We all know you’re a rule breaker, so if you run over break the rules and pay the fine! #MadonnaCelebrationTour'; 'The show was the best thing I’ve ever seen. However, she had to cut the show short and ended with rain due to curfew #MadonnaCelebrationTour' '@Madonna what a beautiful concert, even after she was late on stage. Disappointed the show was cut short really really gutted about the ending #MadonnaCelebrationTour #o2dome'; 'Night 2 of #TheCelebrationTour and Madonna seemed on better form tonight. Happier, more confident and moving much more fluidly. Last couple of songs cut short due to The o2’s curfew but she was amazing. Hats off to the Queen ❤️ #MadonnaCelebrationTour'; 'Very mixed feelings about #MadonnaCelebrationTour last night. The show we got was great but it started v late & therefore we were robbed of a finale /encore. Rain was a terrible song to end on & I left feeling deflated. Not what I & the fans paid a lot of money for.'' 'Where is Madonna?? Supposed 1030 curfew at O2 and it’s 846'; '@Madonna get on stage on time, especially in London with the curfew. You can not be charging 1000s for tickets then doing part of the show. @guyoseary get this under control.'; 'Madonna is actually brilliant live. HOWEVER she's literally just said bye London and the lights came on and now she owes the o2 30 grand for going over curfew '; 'It must be bc of the curfew, she ended 11pm exact. But tbh this is bad, I'm sorry Madonna you are the queen of pop and I love you. But people are paying over 1000,- to see you, you can't end like this. Just start on time your fans deserve the full show'; 'I've seen @Madonna live twice on 2 different tours. Both times she started so late the show got cut off before the finish. Typical. Other than that, I enjoyed it. We even got a bit of 'Don't cry for me Argentina'.'
  10. Keep away from the UK press, especially Dailymail.com, as there are quite a few spoilers in there.
