  1. I full agree with your first paragraph there. I‘m amazed how much I have to disagree with the last two. It’s like You are Love Spent but keep knocking up the Candy Store?
  2. The feminists shunned her for apparently portraying herself as a sex object for men, which Madonna was definitely playing with. In fact, she stepped out of the position of being objectified and instead, made herself the active subject of sexual attraction, turning the tables, objectifying the audience who paid her the attention that a supposed exhibitionist asks for (who is the master who is the slave?). A lot of people do/did not understand that.
  3. I like to imagine this song never happened. That constant upper register singing...whoever had that idea... There are tons of better Madonna songs. And it‘s not Falling Free or I Fucked Up either.
  4. I think the topic genuinely concerned her and still concerns her. She even talked about noticing evil political and social developments everywhere she went with the MDNA tour; she talked about it on stage. The video shoot was originally planned to showcase a lingerie/underwear line, wasn‘t it? It fell through although everyone was already booked, so she made the best of it by including what went through her mind at the time. It does show a little that it was a spontaneous step, as it is not entirely thought-through very well. But all in all, it‘s great she used the opportunity to address what she is addressing. Could it have been done better? Probably. But it’s pretty damn good for what it is. She is very observant. Anyone experienced enough and with a feel for trends is probably pretty good at anticipating certain future developments, as she also has. She‘s definitely not stupid.
  5. Why are we arguing about what should be on a Weeknd greatest hits release...?
  6. An artist who has recently released albums with new original material (which you may like or dislike) and went on tour with both does not HAVE TO prepare to be a legacy-oriented artist. She might launch that part with the biopic, however. We will see. Everyone’s an expert... PS: You do not “own” the artists that you admire.
  7. I really don’t understand why or how some kind of “relief” was needed after Ray of Light ( or how “Guy was good for her” artistically - relationship-wise ok, she married him after all). I think Music was only so big because of Ray of Light. Everyone was anticipating what she’ll come up with next. I agree with you that Music and True Blue were similar in terms of popularity - she was married, doing what society expected, she was off the market and no longer a threat to hetero-normative standards (as she said herself). She fit better into conservative society’s mold again. Revisit what happened when it became clear that she’d longer be with Guy. She was villainized again; ridiculous which media response the adoptions received.
  8. This. David doesn’t seem exactly “nice” either, unfortunately. Must have to do with the entire fame/children of the queen of pop thing.
  9. I don’t care if she‘s thirsty tbh. She may like whomever she likes. The character strikes me as very non-sexy/douchy actually. And what else should I base his “merits” on than personal taste in looks and music. I actually like Reggaeton. Maluma is extremely overrated.
  10. She’s giving everyone what they are asking for. She doesn’t need the Madonna projections, especially from strangers...
  11. I don’t get what everyone sees in this Maluma character. Below mediocre.
  12. For me it was about her music videos at first, then about her live shows definitely, since BAT.
  13. It was confusing to see her release the book at that time and I think most people didn’t understand what she was actually getting at. Was it porn? Was it erotic? Was it suitable for a female pop celebrity to release such a book? Why was she being exhibitionist? Why was she pushing buttons? Years later, I still love the book and applaud her for being brave enough to hold up a mirror to society. It was an angry feminist act. https://monoskop.org/images/7/75/Madonna_Sex.pdf
  14. The story should actually cover everything BC (before Corona). A series on Netflix would have been nice. I am really curious about what the screenplay covers. Someone said they should have come up with a series similar to „The Crown“. I totally agree
