  1. Then let's just say you were not in the handful she was talking about. American Life has become quite the fan favourite to not be good as an overall product at least. Whether Madame X is good and inspirational maybe we'll know after 10-15 years but perhaps you can help me and remind me if you know of any political album by a woman that has been lauded. I can think of Lemonade but it wasn't political through and through and I believe people understood its concept of the heartbreak and the cheating husband better. So ask yourself if Madonna as a white woman could ever touch politics and society matters in a way that would ever please you. If yes I'd like to hear how. If not, maybe you were just ready to dislike those two albums regardless.
  2. She gave an interview last year to Harry Smith where he asked her what the measure for success was for this record. She said she wanted a handful of people to understand her messages behind the songs and be inspired by them, knowing Madame X is not for everyone, neither is it background music. In that sense I believe she did achieve success. I mean she gave great messages with songs like I Rise, God Control, Killers etc. and quite a few reviewers and fans were happy to hear what she had to say. It's not quite the commercial record so half a million copies is decent. But I don't think she found justice by non fans and most fans never quite understood the production and the way the record was executed. It would be nice if at least the latter were to be achieved at some point. It's a futuristic record and she herself has said that she loves making robotic sounds that hold something humanly emotional in them. Maybe those robots are us that never pause to actually enjoy the simplicity of life. So yeah, Madame X I think deserved better justice amongst fans, as many dismiss it along with the rest of her latest work. It's her first not rushed record in forever, she meant everything she did in it and people should embrace it for exactly what it is.
  3. I really really really don't like black. I think she's always looked gorgeous in pinks and whites. And three of my favourite moments would be:
  4. Despite all reasons, she at least made an album with a theme fit to wearing dresses and long skirts and coats. Madame X couldn't travel the world and spy in tight pants, she had to be a boho girl and wear coats at night
  5. Sure Madonna is still top selling amongst females, hopefully forever. Well I looked it up and according to Wikipedia the Guinness book of records on its 1998 edition stated that no other female had sold as much as she had with 200 million records. But according to a fan site Today In Madonna History it was the 2000 edition that stated she was the best selling female with 130 million copies. I think the first one sounds more accurate though as a number. https://todayinmadonnahistory.com/tag/guinness-book-of-world-records/ In any case, this happened years after the Immaculate Collection. At that point I think she would have replaced Barbra Streisand maybe or Whitney, because the Celines and Mariahs were a little too fresh in the game to hold such a title.
  6. I don't believe she needs a studio at this point. If she is indeed inspired, she will be writing lyrics, figuring out her new direction, even recording some voice memos. I think this can be very important because that way she will go straight and seek a producer to share her vision with right after lockdown. Who knows, she might be emailing old pals already exchanging ideas. So to me inspiration to begin a new record is what's important, not whether she has a home studio where she lives. After she starts it will be a year at most that we'll have to wait anyway.
  7. Hard Candy's reportedly on a potato powered machine as Lola's then science project
  8. The forum yes of course, this particular topic however is about Bedtime Stories. Maybe start a new topic about forums that some of us will know not to open
  9. Hey people, does that forum comparing celebrate Bedtime Stories' latest success in any way? Don't make this positive moment end on a bad note please. Sure there must be another place for you to have that conversation
  10. Sure or she had it in her system weeks ago and never faced any symptoms, as antibodies take time to be produced and reach levels that can be detected in the blood. She isn't a child anymore to be completely asymptomatic but we're talking about Madonna so... It must also mean that by now her bf and her kids have contracted it, amongst others in the house.
  11. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask that but I have some questions concerning Madonna's record sales. Do we still consider them to be at about 300M worldwide (or about 335M according to Guinness world records)? If so, is the Wikipedia page to be trusted having placed her just below Elton John and with Rihanna being quite close to her as the second best selling female artist (Madonna 275-300M, Rihanna 250M)? The source for Rihanna's sales is some article about her becoming a Barbados ambassador and the number is probably based on her Roc Nation label. I think Rihanna's sales number might be the actual one but would that mean that Celine and Mariah and Madonna have sold way more than mentioned? Or is Rihanna soon going to be the best selling female artist of all time (less than 15 years career vs. Madonna's almost 40)? I by no means want to ignite a debate that would compare those two. I would just like some help with the numbers amongst so many sources. Thank you.
  12. But would an Erotica discount lead it to the top because the US after nearly 30 years now consider female sexuality to be a thing not to be ashamed of? I'm not sure about that, not even with a discount down to two dollars lol. It would be interesting to see though Unless it's only fans buying.
  13. I agree with you for the most part. She could release standalone singles like Celebration and that would help her name always stay somewhere on the charts and by watching the reactions she can judge whether to promote it further or just release the next one. However I think a Madonna lead single will always be bigger when it's promising an album. Medellin or Living for love wouldn't have been as successful I think had they been released as standalone singles. But maybe if she lets her mind free and just decides to have fun, she will release better singles and more fun ones that are not adjusted to the production and the concept of a record and don't have to carry the burden of promoting a whole body of work. Also judging from Katy Perry, I'm not entirely sure that what she did last year with one off singles really helped her explode. Looked like a hit or miss to me, with Harleys in Hawaii, Small Talk being the miss and Never Really Over being the biggest hit, still not as big as album singles of hers. Plus Katy makes expensive looking, killer videos always. And by the time Madame X was released, so many promotional singles were out, plus all three singles and that didn't really help Madonna. So even though no one had the album still few bothered to make the songs chart. And as for the clubs, well she should be gaining younger fans who love to dance there not just the old ones. I love to dance in clubs so as long as the remixes help me listen to her, I'd like many of them. So I'd suggest both. Standalone singles with an irrelevant to them album coming every 3-4 years, like so many artists do nowadays. Sorry for the long text, just bored ?
  14. Ray of light is not for every hour. You can't play Little Star or Mer Girl and do your chores or exercise or whatever. But you can drive alone at night and get lost in the music. Or have a headache from a long day when you can't take no more and they will soothe you. Some tracks can seem boring when you are all energised but when you want to talk with yourself you don't need screaming vocals and heavy beats. By the way, To Have And Not To Hold along with Skin are two of the best songs about longing I've even heard. Which is what disappointed me about Crave, that never gives you such chills as those songs. Hope you find the perfect time to enjoy that half of ROL. And Confessions might have been a regular disco album in the 70's. If it were that regular in the 00's, there'd have been like seven other big ones around that time. Where are they?
  15. Hold Tight proving itself years later as a valuable addition to Madonna's standard discography. (Come Alive will too).
  16. I'd personally like her to leave her dark sound behind. Madame X is a serious, dark album, also Rebel Heart had a cold sound, with Kanye also pushing the production to that direction, at least for the first bunch of tracks. I'd like an easy to the ear record now, summery one and Europe friendly. With tracks like Ciao Bella, Miles Away, even I'm a sinner. So if she were to follow some older path, I'd very much like a modern True Blue. Her bringing light into dark places should be with a light album. Medellin was kinda going to that direction but the production didn't let the song explode, there was no vocal climax either.
  17. I don't think it's an overrated album. Judging from the music only, it's bop after bop after bop. Of course not every song is perfect, her bridges can get too repetitive ( I can make it alone, I heard it all before, so slowly so slowly) but in the sense of a dance record I don't think it gets better than that. Just like you, I didn't get to experience the era and I first listened to it six years after it came out but it does things to my body that very few albums can. Even when the sound is cold, her voice makes it thaw out and makes you feel things. You want to fall in love, make a fool of yourself for one night and it won't matter, get laid, dump someone, make life changing decisions. Maybe those things don't interest you in the way she projects them so maybe this album isn't for you. If you ask me, her most overrated album is either Like A Virgin or Like A Prayer. Like a Virgin sold way too much for such a weak album in my opinion and Like A Prayer is absolutely gorgeous, but calling it her absolute best might be an exaggeration. Just music wise of course and just my opinion. Her balls were heavier when she released certain albums and that makes them the iconic pieces they are, overrated or not.
  18. No problem. It's not like we're gonna be singing it together anyway, so each to their own. We can talk lyrics again anytime if I care about the song
  19. That would be great. Fans are going to the point of expecting her to invent a new genre every time Invent a genre or back to Patrick Leonard.
  20. Sweetie I have no problem with it being understands. But you said you couldn't understand why some fans think it's 'on the stairs' and I explained to you that it's the most reasonable thing to believe so as it's the official lyrics. I didn't say she explained on the stairs, I said I did. My explanation was that she was praying to Baby Jesus while climbing down the stairs to leave the house because she had forgotten to, before. It makes absolute sense to me in the context of the song, because it's literally about a single mom running all the time for her kids and for her job and so many other things. Anyway, I'm still waiting for your link to the Twitter chat you mentioned where she gave the correct lyrics
  21. Many of the above actually. I'd tell her to make music her first professional priority again. If she's gonna say she's sleep deprived, at least let it be about her kids and her music. And the staff can get the kids ready and take them to school but no one can write her music. I'd tell her to make soundtrack songs that'll keep her relevant. Also to make records always thinking about the singles wisely. Or let others choose them for her. But most importantly, I'd like to tell her that the great records are inside her. She doesn't need an army of writers or producers or inspirations all over the globe. Bonus: To make appearances women will want to imitate. She can be peculiar and mysterious like Tilda Swinton, she can be classy like Cate Blanchett, she can have abs again and show them off like Jennifer Lopez but please not a Pirate of the Carribbean meets Dita Von Teese at work.
