I mean the guy even owns unreleased Madonna tracks (like "Work your finger to the bone) and he never tried to make money with it like some other have done (pre-Madonna for example). I once had the opportunity to talk with him and he is such a nice guy...

Thank you so much for this thread... i had plans to make one similar one of these days... People don't seem to realise how much the guy is responsible for the Madonna sound of the 80's... He has basically produced or remixed her best 80's tracks from 1983 to 1986. He is a real sweet and nice guy in real life. He has never ever bad mouthed Madonna or wrote a book and tried to get money... Yet last year on Graham Norton when they showed her a picture of him she asked them to take off the pic and called him "Just a shitty ex boyfriend". I was in a shock. From a woman who always tell us to act with respect and who praise peace among human beings i found her behaviour so disrespectful... and calling him "Just a shitty ex boyfriend" when he was the person who produced all the hits of the beginning of her career was so reductive. This is the first time her behaviour really hurted me...

As you know, Jellybean did a lot of work and mixes for Madonna early in her career. I was just taking a look at Wiki. It's amazing all the work he's done for other artists too. Is it me, sometimes it doesn't seem like he gets enough credit for what he’s done? So, from  these Madonna songs below that he remixed and/or gave, helped with, etc., which are your favorite....and do you have other knowledge or insight on him? I love them all except for "Borderline" and "Like A Virgin" (except for her tour performances of it). "Holiday" would be my very favorite. I also love "Burning Up". I know Madonna didn't sing on Sidewalk Talk(even though it sounds like her), but, she wrote it for him and I loveeee it too. I would love to see them do something again after all of these years.
     "Borderline"
     "Burning Up"
     "Dress You Up"
     "Gambler"
     "Holiday"
     "Like a Virgin"
     "Lucky Star"
     "Material Girl"
     "Physical Attraction"
    "Spotlight"

Is "Justify My Love" one of your Madonna favorites like mine? The first time I heard it, I was sold and then some. The lyrics are so hot. And the video...wow. It couldn't have been more perfect! To Justify My Love!
The 'Hot' Hit Song Madonna Wrote With Lenny Kravitz

    Matthew Trzcinski
    August 14, 2020

Madonna has duetted with superstars such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears but some fans don’t know one of her biggest hits was co-written by rock idol Lenny Kravitz. Kravitz wrote a “hot” song he thought was suitable for Madonna. Interestingly, the song became a huge pop smash even though it isn’t really a pop song.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kravitz recalled crafting “Justify My Love.” He felt it didn’t suit him but he liked it because it was “hot.” In addition, he felt “Justify My Love” might work for Madonna, who he’d previously met in the club scene.

He called Madonna and told her he had a No. 1 hit for her. Madonna was skeptical. Kravitz insisted “Justify My Love” would be a huge success if she recorded it. The Queen of Pop said she was willing to hear it.

How people reacted to the ‘very progressive’ song

“So I went to the studio,” Kravitz told Rolling Stone, “popped in my cassette, blasted the track and played it again and again and she’s like, ‘Let’s do it.’ Everyone in the room was like, ‘Oh, sh*t.’ It was so different.” According to AllMusic, Madonna and Kravitz co-wrote the final version of “Justify My Love.” Interestingly, Kravitz does not provide vocals for the track.

Rolling Stone reports Jean-Baptiste Mondino, the director of the “Justify My Love” video, was taken with the song, calling it “very, very progressive, very unusual. It was Lenny Kravitz who wrote it, he was singing, but he was almost talking, and he had that strange beat. You couldn’t really dance to it. It was all whispering — it sounds more like an experience. Nobody would pick up a song like this and try to make a hit out of it, don’t you think so?”

How ‘Justify My Love’ performed with the public

Although Mondino didn’t think someone would try to make “Justify My Love” a hit, Madonna did. Not only did Madonna release it, but she also released it as the first single from her initial greatest hits album, The Immaculate Collection. That was arguably a gamble given that “Justify My Love” is pretty avant-garde for a pop song. After that, the risk paid off, as the track became of one Madonna’s biggest hits of all time, the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s interesting how Madonna’s change in musical style from her early dance-pop hits to the minimalist trip-hop of “Justify My Love” didn’t alienate the public.

Although Kravitz later had hits of his own, he told Rolling Stone he considers “Justify My Love” his first No. 1 single. In addition, Kravitz cited the track as one of the songs which defined his life alongside his own hits like “Fly Away” and “American Woman.” It’s certainly one of Kravitz’s many iconic songs — even if he doesn’t sing a note on it.

    Rocco..
I shouldn't comment on celeb kids, especially on the children of our queen, but I feel like he has zero connection towards Madonna? If the tabloid rumors are true about all the nasty things he's said about her.. it just irks me so much. I feel like he has a nasty attitude and seems to be very ungrateful.
If my mother was Madonna and my father was some no name film director.. I'd choose to be with Madonna. I don't see why he prefers his father over her.
I'd kill to be Rocco.. I'd love to have Madonna as my mother.. I know for sure I wouldn't choose Guy over her. Madonna seems like such an awesome mom. I mean, look at the rest of her children and how happy they are.
I guess I just think Rocco is a brat.
No offense to my own mom shes a rockstar in her own lol

I couldn't agree more with you. The thing with celebrity children is they are born into money and privilege and they use their family connection to "open doors for them" and often think they have inherited the parent's talent. This is hardly ever the case.

I don't really care about the gossip but I would love a docu of her talking about her life. I just want to hear her talk about the beginning, like moving to NY, going to paris to dance, releasing her first album, stuff through the 80's and 90's, her talking about anything controversial, her talking about motherhood, her killing untrue rumors and such.. just a full in depth story of her life.. maybe it would be more suited for a book but I just want to see her sit and talk about EVERYTHING.

WOW how cool is it that Vogue EP is now on the streaming services (mentioned earlier) - so good!
If she does go back to Warner - I wonder if we will get more older releases on the streaming services!

Pages later, it's safe to say we have come to one simple conclusion. A vast majority of those posting on here don't like Madonna as she is, and think she'd be more appealing (to them) if she just returned to being a one-dimensional marketing ploy solely incorporating the fundamental infrastructure of her Warner Bros. years.
Either you love Madonna, warts, scars and all, and seek to understand her creative drive in spite of the way she is marketed, sold, exploited and denigrated via tabloidism, or you find yourself at a constant impasse of disagreeable disappointment.
I'd venture as far as to say that the contrarianism of her fanbase is as much to blame for the pervasive negativity surrounding her public image and her dwindling popularity as ageism, sexism and politics. In comparison to what Madonna has done in the last ten years alone, I imagine most of these contrarians are totally underwhelming.
