  1. The Yokohama show seems very subdued to me. She doesn't seems totally comfortable yet (understandable as the tour was just starting out), but even the lighting seems so incredibly dark, barely lit up - especially when you compare it to the Barcelona and Nice dates. Almost like they used a fraction of the lighting from the European shows... I mean, parts of even the set are missing like the curtain during LAV and Sooner or Later/Hanky Panky. I think even the Lempicka-like backdrop for Vogue is missing. I really loved the New Jersey show. It too, however seems very dark to me too. Did they just decide to dramatically enhance the lighting once she got to Europe? It seems like all the Japanese/North American shows are significantly darker. like it's just a few lights and a very bright spotlight. But the actual performance itself of that show was amazing. Did she use fog for the show? Sometimes I swear I see it for some dates, and some I don't at all. My love the Nice show because the quality is great, and the lighting is superb. The camera angles are amazing and you really can see the entire stage and get a better feel of the whole show. She knows the show like the back of her hand. In a perfect world, it would be perfect if she just had the ponytail. To me, when I first saw clips of the show, she had the ponytail, so my first impression of the show is with it... it's just ingrained in my brain. Now if you could get all of Alek's footage of the show from Paris and put that together, I'd say the hell with everything else because it looks superior to all other shows filmed, but we all know that cannot ever happen since the footage is allegedly lost. But the Paris show would be the ultimate BAT show to have. That said, I would gladly buy any variation that was officially released without batting an eye.
  2. 1. Madame X: I like to pretend this album never happened. Not only do I not love any song from it, it actually irritates me to listen to most of it. I Rise, God Control, I Don't Search I Find and Crave are just OK. The autotune is revolting. I loved the visuals for the album and ideas, but I will never listen to this album ever again. The ONLY M album I don't like or love. 2. MDNA: Some great songs but the album feels soul less to me. Like it was done just to quickly get an album out. 3. Hard Candy: Once again some great songs, but her voice in many of the songs sound strained and thin like an whiny voice, just like Justin's. Plus, the album feels more to me like a Justin Timberlake album. Timbaland's production aged horribly.
  3. Hmmmm. So much to choose from, but my list would be (in no particular order): 1. Open Your Heart 2. Express Yourself (7" Remix/Edit) 3. Into the Groove (Original) 4. Dress You Up 5. Live To Tell Granted, that's my list now. Back in the 1980's I'm sure it would've been different. Material Girl was the first Madonna song I was fanatical over, I'm sure I would've had Holiday in there and Like a Prayer. I'm sure, my list will change in a decade or so, lol.
  4. I don't mind the Sticky & Sweet live version because it's so different and full of energy, but honestly, the BAT is the ultimate champ when it comes to the musicality and arrangement of the song. You just can't beat live instruments, period. I feel that a good percentage of "live" music now is recorded playback with just some additional live aspects. Back then, the serious bass, banging drums and fierce guitars were palpable, and you felt the music in your soul when performed.
  5. Personally speaking, I find Madame X are clearly and easily her most un-enjoyable album.... there isn't a song on it that I love. I Rise, Crave and God Control are just okay songs I feel. A lot of the instrument sounds and the vocoder on her voice just simply irritate me. Many of the songs I dislike so much that they grate on my nerves. I don't understand any language besides English, so many songs I don't even know what she is singing. Plus, I feel it's more of a world album that a pop record. Usually her albums are infused with a particular sound, but the bones of it is still pop. I feel the pop is completely gone in Madame X. I'll never forget listening to it for the first time in my car with my friend and we were both so disappointed. It was so awful that we kept checking to see how much longer we had to listen until it was over. At times we laughed, asking if this was a joke. I have NEVER done that before with any of her albums. I love literally every other album though, some more than others naturally.
  6. Speaking strictly audio wise, I prefer the Blond Ambition Tour arrangement, but I prefer how she sang it in the Virgin Tour (if that makes any sense).
  7. Anyone who says it isn't exclusively ageism I feel isn't looking at the reality of the way the world (and the business) really is. The last "new" song I heard radio playing regularly by Madonna was in 2002 with 'Die Another Day'. Madonna was 44 years old then. I have never since then heard a new Madonna song played on the radio here where I live. The entire music business is so drastically different in every way from when Madonna would release an album or a single in the 80's. True Blue I believe is globally her best selling studio album. Look at the promotion she did for that album... not too much. By the time the WTG tour started, the singles from the album had already been released, and it had been a year roughly since the album was released. Regardless, you could take the best Madonna song ever (as if it were new and previously unreleased) and release it now and it still would not become a hit. That's just the way it is unfortunately. Now IF radio would actually play the songs, maybe that would change, but it never will. They are catering to the kids and young adults since they are the ones that mostly purchase music. Mind you, I wish all of this was different. But I just accepted 15 years ago that Madonna's days of new songs being played on hit radio was over (at least here in North America). She had an exceptional run. She had 20 full years of radio support which any artist would be lucky and grateful to have. Should she have still had her current music at the time played on the radio? Without question or hesitation YES! But, there's nothing obviously anyone could've done. Not even she could change that. Madonna's music the past 15 years have obviously been good enough for radio. It's a heck of a lot better than the majority of music that has been played and charted well. But unlike other artists, Madonna is not young. I do believe it is absolutely due to her age. It is the ONLY reason. And if anybody doesn't believe me, I'll just leave you with 1 word... Ghosttown.
  8. Looking so forward to this! When does this music come out?
  9. The original Lucky Star LP cover reminds me of the Hollywood CD single cover, but 20 years prior.
  10. I would LOVE (obviously) the full, complete Paris performance. It was filmed so beautifully on 35mm. I'm sure it would be almost every fan's dream to have a copy of this somehow, shape or form. I saw her June 1, 1990 in Michigan the night we all sang Happy Birthday to here Dad after Holiday. I honestly and truly prefer the ponytail though I must say. I find it truly suited all the costumes better. The Yokohama show to me is too dark. I hardly see any lights and it seems like parts of the backdrop are missing at times. The Nice show is better in all aspects but I actually find the Barcelona show to be the best all of 3 personally. They all pale in comparison to the Truth or Dare (Bercy) footage however. Ponytail or not, I want it! Although, it's 99.9% of a chance we'll never see the rest of it.

  12. Having a thread in a forum about somebody's body (to me) is just not a good idea. I'm sure no negative intentions were intended by the OP however. A thread like this is just asking for people to get upset, annoyed or up in arms.
  13. What I'm confused about is that the Kickstarter says all or nothing. The goal of $155,203 seems fair, but quite a lot to achieve in under 30 days. I'm looking right now, and it says it has raised $4,257, which is good for now, but surely it will slow down. So if the goal is not reached, will the project be canceled? Also, if you did contribute, would you be reimbursed?
  14. Don't go for second best, baby! (Vogue) I choose Express Yourself.
  15. Causing a Commotion hit #1 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart on my 10th birthday.
  16. I recognized this mix because I have the bootleg CD which it came from. It's called "Boy Toy". It's clearly an unofficial CD, which came out at the time to cash in on The Immaculate Collection's success. I bought it at the MadonnaThon in Detroit back in 1993. There's 2 versions of this CD - 1 from France and 1 from Italy. I have this one below. https://www.discogs.com/Madonna-Boy-Toy/release/611822 To buy: https://www.amazon.com/Boy-Greatest-Dance-Hits-Remixed/dp/B003H4ELHO
  17. I got Desperately Seeking Susan. Not sure how I feel about it. Although it is my favourite Madonna movie, I'd like to think I have it more together than Susan. Actually, the more I think about it, I basically am Susan.
  18. BAT. Watched it more than any other Madonna tour at home. Saw it live June 1, 1990 at The Palace of Auburn Hills, MI... the night we sang Happy Birthday to her father. Wow, tomorrow that will be 27 years ago. Holy crap!!
  19. Live To Tell for me. "I was not ready for the fall... too blind to see the writing on the wall..." Sad, mysterious, haunting and beautiful. A close second to me is Something to Remember. The lyrics are so sentimental, sad and bittersweet. Plus, that piano solo at the end of it just kills me.
  20. Why did they black out her teeth? This is WAY too photoshopped. I don't get why. I can see a bit like everybody else but this is silly to me.
