somethingscomingover got a reaction from madaboutM in Cancel or Carry on with the tour?
I am sorry to all those who have purchased tickets and have been effected by the cancellations, but I personally think she should cancel the rest of the tour. She is in pain and she could be making her injury even worse right now by continuing. She needs to stop and rest.
Once she recovers after truly taking the time she needs, hopefully, she will be able to perform on tour again and those who didn't get to see her will have the chance to.

She's never been the type to be impressed or taken in by the gushing overexcited fans. The reports of people bumping into her randomly or happening to come across her normally have decent experiences simply saying hello and not putting the excitement to a 100. She's very intimidating and perceptive so I think she likes people that aren't taken in by the stardom. Even in the fan photos, she seems so unimpressed and bored. I still laugh at the story about her apparently charging at some kid in the 80's for wanting a photo.

Sorry if this was obvious to most people, but I only just realised yesterday while watching the uncensored version again.
The toilet cubicles show different people from various backgrounds divided by walls, all living in their shitholes. They are annoyed, uncomfortable and frustrated to be contained by these imaginary borders. Madonna carves a rally call "Protect Me", she is ready to take charge for change and needs everyone's support. All of them start to get riled up, Madonna and the others try to get out of this imaginary box but fails and expresses dismay.
Finally, Madonna kicks the door open. The answer to leave these divided walls was always such a simple action, but everyone was holding back. One brave soul decides to break out of this box, and everyone follows. At the start there is some friction and conflict between these strangers from different backgrounds and beliefs, but everyone is bound by the same purpose now. And so they left the shithole of a situation they were in and decided to fight for change.
    Lemme know your thoughts!!!

    94. Madonna and Babyface's styles really meshed well in the 90s. There's a certain emotional element to it that I really like.

I would just like for her to be with a label that will really promote her music. A lot of artists who have been in the music industry for a long time put out new music and it's almost like it never happened because the only people that really hear about it are the fans (not trying to point fingers at any specific labels, like Live Nation, though). It seems like people forget about these albums so quickly and that's why it feels like every era is getting shorter.

I heard Like A Prayer on a throwback mix on the radio. Like A Prayer seems to be one of the more popular Madonna songs in my area when it comes to the radio, but it's also one of her best songs, so I'm not surprised haha.

Wow. I love them both so much.
I'm going to say Secret just because it's so unique and different than a lot of the songs in Madonna's discography. I also love the messages about loving yourself before loving someone else and that you are key to your own happiness. M and Dallas Austin did an amazing job!
Human Nature is great, too, though! I love to listen to it when I feel like I'm being pushed around. It's so powerful and unapologetic.

I've always thought that everyone loved Jump, American Pie, Take a Bow and Don't Tell Me, but I've noticed that a lot of fans despise them.
Well, I absolutely love such songs.

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Voguerista in Madonna as a your personal hero!
Wow. It's hard to put into words how Madonna has helped me. A lot of it is mainly just having someone to relate to. There's a lot of aspects of her life that I really connect with.
She's done so many different things throughout her career and she's had so many interests. She's shown me that I don't have to be only one thing and that it's okay to have phases and then move on completely. I like that about her.
Madonna's just made me more free to feel happy being myself. She's shown me how to be unapologetic and brave. The same thing goes for sexuality as well. Sex has always been a taboo and I never knew what to think about it, and Madonna helped me see a different perspective.
She's also opened me up to this wonderful community and this forum where I feel welcome and happy!
There's so much more, but I don't want to make this post too long.
I just think she's great and I have a lot of respect for her and everything she's done for me.

I would say Madonna and Mariah were my modes of escapism when i was a young boy/teenager. For that, she would be a hero to me. But, i grew out of that by 18. So from then on, it has been all about the music and fascination with her. Like A Prayer went to number 1 on my birthday when I was 14. That being my fav song and album, I always felt a connection.  When American Life was released so many years later on my birthday, I thought back through all the years where Madonna's existence has been such a large part of my life. It is wonderful that we still have her with us. And to be able to say I have been a fan since I was a child of a legend who still is alive and creative. I sound old.  She may not be my hero now, but not a day goes by without some Madonna time included.
P.S. Love showing off about Madonna and my birthdays lol

    * It has striked me from the second i began to listen Madonna as a pop artist; to a lot of her fans she is a kind of a superhero/superwoman. I would like to ask you why is that, what are your experiences/hardships that she helped you (from a distance) to cope with and why you all are so.. hardcore!

    thanks

somethingscomingover got a reaction from Voguerista in Post your interpretation of Madonna's songs!
My theory was that it was from a perspective of a young woman from a conservative family. She talks about her mother and her father "molding her" in the song and I always thought that meant they had given her a very conservative view of sex and sexuality.
When she says, "Someone said that romance was dead/ And I believed it instead of remembering/ What my mama told me", I thought that she was talking about how sex is reserved for marriage and long term relationships, but then she heard that romance wasn't popular and that young people didn't really care about not having sex before marriage and it allowed her to feel free enough to do it herself.
And the whole "Never gonna hide it again" was about sexual liberation and not having to hide your desires. And, when she talks about "falling in love", she can't help it because sex was always something she associated with love and she can't get rid of that association just yet.
The music video is very 60's and that was when people started feeling more sexually liberated and all about "free love". The balloons she loses in the end of the video could represent her innocence, her upbringing.
But, it fits both ways because it could easily be about a man coming out as well. I've heard a lot of different theories about the song and I think that's what makes it so great. I personally connect to the young woman interpretation and that's probably why I did interpret it that way.

I once read ‘Live to Tell’ was sung from the perspective of a man after unknowingly contracting HIV from an ex-lover. I don’t know if it’s true but it gives the song a bit more sense.
