This song was actually a hit in 1991 and a huge success without video or huge promotion. This song marked a record a this time. At this time, this will be the higher debut in the US charts of history at this time, debuting in number 15. The song peaked finally number 9 three weeks after her entry.

My favorite album of her career. The production of this album is fire and very haunting, the ambiance was so hypnotical, very spiritual and she also improved her vocals in this album, thanks to the singing lesson during the making of Evita. I love the diversity of this album. Like Like a Prayer, this album was very varied and the sequencing was incredible well. The album started in her first eight tracks with more up-beat sound, while the five last tracks (or six in the Japan version) was more a slow ballad (Frozen was a transition between the first eight tracks and the last tracks of the album, because i considered a mid-tempo ballad). She have her best re-invention of her career and also this album was her second born of her career. She explored in this album: Dance, Electro, Trip-Hop, Bossa Nova, Rock, New age, spiritual and Asian music in this album. Also the pure sound of her music and the rich arrangements created a sound so much good, very complex and very relaxing. This album makes me happy all the time when i listen this album. Also, the cover and the pictures of the booklet represent perfectly the general ambiance of the whole album.

My favorites of this album was Frozen and Has to Be. I have the japanese version, because i was a huge fan of Has to Be, i love how Madonna explored the New Age style with this song and the perfect ending of a album.

The 1998-1999 was her best period of her. Because with Ray of Light after the blacklash of Erotica and the moderate success of Bedtime Stories, she returned with a masterpiece: Ray of Light. The 1998 was a period of the critics finally plaised a album of Madonna, and Ray of light was her most critical acclaimed album of her career. And also, this album add a second born of her career and was massivly successful worldwide. A iconic period who Madonna was finally accepted by the critics. The singles was also popular and the title track and Frozen was a wave worldwide.

I consider True Blue a transition between this and Like a Prayer. Because this album retain her dance-pop sound of her two first album, but she add also latino and ballad for the first time in her albums and she sing in a more lower register to her debut. The debut album and Like a Virgin was more dance pop and teenager style. While this album included a more mature dance-pop style. This album cibled the old public (like Live to Tell and La Isla Bonita) and also the younger (with Papa Don't Preach, True Blue and Open Your Heart). My favorites of the album was Open Your Heart, Live to Tell, La Isla Bonita and Where's the Party, all excellents tracks. i like also the four others tracks of the album. Live to Tell was a exceptionnal instrumentals and a haunting ballad. This ballad help him to conquer a more mature public and the prelude of the album. After that, she always incorpored the ballads in her albums (The most was Ray of Light, this album included five ballads at the end of the album).

My three songs when i cry hugely:
Oh Father: This song definitived me for my relation with my father. I cry a lot when i listen this song. This song was a gift in my life and also very close with my feelings. One of her songs then i was very close to my head and my heart.
Promise to Try: A incredible song and i always cry in this song when i sing the lyrics of the song. A masterpiece.
In This Life: depist i didn't like so well the album Erotica, this song marked me because of this message of the song. THis song talk about the dead of her friends of AIDS. A poem was recited at the end of the song, address to all the peoples to lost a friend to AIDS or many diasease. THe poem at the end was very sad and very a sad reality.

WCD199317 got a reaction from Voguerista in EROTICA is underrated
A huge deception this album. I hate this album, all the photographs, the cover and most of all songs of the album.
Shep Pettibone has a better job for Vogue and Rescue Me, two very goods songs. And this album, huge deception. I hate Erotica (the title-track), this song is mess and i not like most of all songs of the album. Only two songs was good on this album (and the two was a single). The first is Rain (my favorite), this song was beautiful in the arrangements and i like the darker ambiance ballad of this song. The video was also a art, beautiful and i love the look on this video. The second was Deeper and Deeper, the disco/latino influenced was find for this song and i listen this with a good pleasure this song. I like well the lyrics of In this life, very sad and touching (about the lost of his friends of AIDS), but the music was not the better choice of this song, same thing with Why's it so hard.
I'm not difficult at the base, i'm a huge fan of the albums Ray of Light, True Blue and Confessions on a dance Floor, and i like many songs of others albums. but this, i listen many times, but nothing, i hate this album. I sold this CD and i never re-buy this CD since, because of my huge deception.
Where Life Begins was very better in instrumentals, the Madonna performance destroys the beauty of the music of this song. The instrumentals of this song was online in Youtube and with the Bett's production of the three songs of the album, this song was the better sound music and i like better the instrumental, better and better without the Madonna voice,

This song was my least favorite of this album (i prefer more Frozen, Nothing Really Matters, Swim, Little Star and Has to Be), depiste i like this song. The opening and middle was very beautiful and incredible and i like the fact she used a different ambiance during the same song . But this is the ending then bother me. The ending aggressed my ears and this is desolate, because except the ending (the last 30 seconds), the song was very perfect and the text fit with the spirituallity of the singer about the time of her life. Depiste that, Ray of Light was my favorite album of her and also my best taste of tea when i listen many times this album.

I didn't like very well the album Erotica (my least favorite with Madame X), but i appreciate the fact she talk about taboos subjects in the songs of the album. And also, this album was very ahead of her time at the time of released, the sound was very raw, dark and not formated for radios (Shep Pettibone say this album was not for radios and it's difficult to access of the songs of the album, outside of Deeper and Deeper and Rain, more radio friendly). Today, many magazines included this album to one of her innovative and adventurious album of all time, because with this album, she recording a more rough album. But this album was not for all (this album was not totally for me).
Bedtime Stories was more a album to reconquer her public after her failed with Erotica (Critical and sales of the album). But this album included very good songs like Take a Bow, Don't Stop and also my favorite track of the album: Sanctuary. This song and the title-track was the prelude of her electronic music for her next album (Ray of Light). I like this album and i considered a more radio friendly after the album Erotica, not formated for radios and very rough.

I hate Erotica, A horror this track, i hate the beat, the ambiance and also the voice of Madonna of his track. A nightmare this track. Same thing with Impressive instant (the auto-tune used hugely was a nightmare of this song). I hate The Dark Ballet, a worst version of the ballet of Tchaïkovski (i love her music of her, like the nutcracket and sleeping beauty).
I didn't like also Waiting, Like a Virgin (i never been a fan of this song) and Lucky Star,

Secret garden was a jazz track, but with house and dance influences. If you listen the three songs of Erotica, this song was the most jazzy song of the album. Where life Begins was more a Hip-Hop, but it's contained a jazz influenced.
For info, I'm Breathless was more a pop and Jazz album, but also influenced dance, Swing, House and Samba. In Erotica album, the album included Secret Garden, a jazzy song with touched of dance-house, while Waiting and Where Life Begins was more Hip-Hop, but with influenced jazz.

    my favorites:
    1. The power of Goodbye; This song was a innabitual ballad, this song was pop with influenced Asian and RnB and the song was excellent. The video covered the message of the song about the rupture of he man.
2, Rain: A art this video. All the video was the exemple of art, with the beauty of the background, the dressing of Madonna and one of the best videos of his career.
    3. Take a Bow: A excellent ballad and one of the best videos, this ballad was beautiful and the music video add a hispanic touch. The place she was turned the music video was video. One of the beast videos. This video influenced also the music video of Justin Timberlake Sexyback.

I hate Erotica because this album was a very bad album. The sound was horrible, look the title-track, this is was worst single of all time, i hate the vocals (she nearly never sing in the song). She nearly never sing in 1/3 of the album. And look Thief of Hearts, depiste this sound will be same of the remix of Paula Abdul, Opposites Attracts, the Paula abdul remix was better to Thief of Hearts. Words was also very better of the demo version. I listen in Youtube Where's life Begin in instrumental in Youtube, because the Madonna vocals performance destroys the beauty of the sound of the song. I only listen Deeper and Deeper, Rain, Why's it so hard and In this Life (the last, the music was not very good, but the lyrics help to up the sound of the music) with good pleasure.
Like a prayer, i didn't like this album the first time, outside Like a Prayer, Express Yourself and Oh Father, but it groow up and now, i like very well this album. this album was the maturity of the artist, this album took a huge risk. The songs growing up and i listen many times now. Till death to us Part was a perfect exemple of genius, this will my favorite song of the album (aside the title-track), depiste the lyric was very dark, the music was very happiness and the bridge included beautifuls harmonies.

    My favorites
    1. Ray of Light: One of my favorites albums of all time. i love this album since the first tim i listen in 2009. This will the best record since Like a Prayer and also her best album to date. Her most ambitious record of his career, she created with William Orbit a new sound and one thing about this album was this album breakthough the electronic music in the large public. Majority with electro and pop, this album was her most varied styles, like Rock, RnB, Trip hop, Dance, Folk, new age and Asian influences. My favorite and also this record was a part of my life. I like all the songs of the album. I was not fan of the ending of Drowed World/Subsitut for love, because the music aggressed, but godness, the Madonna voice perfomance help to ending in beauty the song. But nothless, this song is very good to combined multiple music styles of the song. A masterpiece this album!
    2. True Blue: One of her best albums. After two dance-pop album (Eponym album and Like a Virgin), she started to risking to the music. This album retains her habitual dance-pop for many songs of the album, the style of Madonna help for his fame, but she started risking to more styled, like Latino (La Isla Bonita) and ballad (Live to Tell) and her style was more mature. All the songs was excellent of the album and i listen all the time all the songs of the album.
    3. Confession on a Dance Floor: This album was my teenage years. This album, hugely disco styled, was my tea time during around 14-15 years. I was fan of Hung Up, my favorite song of Madonna of all the time, i was fan of the song, the music and the live performance of this song in the tours. I dancing with this albums, most of time Hung Up or Jump, my two favorites songs of the album. A masterpiece this album and i like all the songs of the album.

Same review for me, but depist this album was a very bad album, only few songs was good on this album. Deeper and Deeper, for his inovation, to combinated the Disco-House with Latino, with the strongs lyrics about the homosexuality, this will be the perfect choice of single and also the best song of the album, Rain is a love song and the same style of her ballads like Live to Tell or Oh Father and the music video was a art (one of my favorites music videos), Why's it so Hard for his universal message of love and her darker ambiance of the sound of House, and In this Life, the ending was talking, but unlike other songs of the album like Where Life Begins or Waiting, it was perfect for that, because she address to all the peoples to lost of friends of AIDS with emotion (this song was her only song when i cry with Promise to Try and Oh Father) and it's like a monologue to talk the people about the AIDS, this song was one of her most sadness song of her career, this will more powerful when you listen her live version for the Girlie Show Tour.
