BringUrLUV reacted to Bobo in Queendom (old Madonna forum)
@scottyjWonder if you were on AudioGalaxy and Mircback then too... That was like 2001 and then Madonna Share Hub. Was the only way to find all those bootleg mixes. Oh and of course Napster!

The thing that made Confessions so great was that it WAS a polished dance album but the lyrics ARE fantastic. Future Lovers may not have a lot of lyrics but those lyrics are profound. FL, Isaac, Jump, Let It Will Be...those songs all got me thru some life changes-both good & bad.
Like It Or Not, the album has some great lyrics
And even the songs with simple lyrics like Hung Up & Sorry, they're still brilliant dance pop songs that are greater than the sum of their parts. Those 2 songs got me through the break up I was going through when confessions came out.
I Love New York? Terrible lyrics, yes, but I still love that song. Maybe I'm biased.
"In the evidence of its brilliance" should have been the tag line for the whole album.

@Liam this is a madonna forum thats what we all do...nit pick.
We just don't all agree on our individual nitpicking. keeps it interesting. But bottom line, yeah, remember to chill & enjoy the music!

Future Lovers is such a deep and spiritual track, it gives me chills. Then there's Isaac, Forbidden Love, How High, Let It Will Be, Jump, Like it or not....
COADF is a marvelously accomplished era, great music, lyrics and aesthetic.

I love new york obviously is supposed to be a silly song. I like the fact that every Madonna album has 1 or 2 songs that aren’t too serious. ILNY is one of them. The music at the end of the song is the reason why it’s one of my favourite songs by her and of all time

BringUrLUV got a reaction from master468 in You haven't heard Madonna until you've listened to her music on LSD.
LSD & ecstasy aren't really drugs people get addicted to. Not saying it doesn't happen, just not very probable. Opioids? Crystal Meth? Cocaine? Cigarretes? Very addictive. Stay away.

Right!! Isaac is imo the most meaningful track on the album. All of her albums are deep and meaningful

all this COADF slander. why do people think the album is just a dance album when most of the tracks have deep and meaningful lyrics? it partially was a dance colorful AL. Thats what I love about it, she made it look commercial without sacrificing depth.

I love the title track too! It’s brilliant and the ending leading into Hollywood is unique in its own way

BringUrLUV got a reaction from GhostOrchid in Was the "American Life" Album the reason for....
I thought Hollywood would have been a great title or maybe Nobody Knows Me.
But in the end it was American Life, and its been nice to see some younger fans embrace that as their favorite Madonna album.

BringUrLUV reacted to Jackie in Was the "American Life" Album the reason for....
I don't think it was, she was already working on new material for the musical hello suckers and the baz one, hung up was sporned by that and re worked with Stuart (who knows by how much). I just think it was coincidence. American Life was an amazing album, I think had she called it Hollywood and released that as the lead single, as it was rumoured at the time, it would have been a different story, success wise. Did Warner maybe say to her tone it down, most definitely, but damage control, I do not think so.
-
BringUrLUV reacted to GhostOrchid in Was the "American Life" Album the reason for....
Yes. Although the damage control began as early as 2003 MTV VMA Awards with Xtina & Britney, the GAP commercial with Missy, Remixed & Revisited and finaly Me Against The Music with Britney.
I would assume not by her choice. The label was probably like.. erm, we need to fix this, ASAP

BringUrLUV reacted to Roy in Re invention tour VS confessions tour
Confessions Tour wins for a long shot as it's a big improvement from the Re - Invention Tour but the latter also holds a special place in me for its simplicity and uniqueness, quite similar to the Virgin Tour in my view.

Lol, I see what you're getting at. I'm Breathless is an album, sometimes counted in album rankings for her, but obviously M14 would be M16 or 15, if Evita or Breathless were officially counted.

BringUrLUV got a reaction from FrozenPenguin in I see a Pattern
No its not, the original post was not about recording sessions, it was about STUDIO ALBUMS.
-
BringUrLUV reacted to FrozenPenguin in I see a Pattern
I'm Breathless was a soundtrack album for a Movie. NOT a studio album.

BringUrLUV reacted to survivalartist in Erotica had Dita, Hard Candy had M-Dolla, which other personas did we have?
I think she definitely embodied M-Dolla for wayyyyy too long M-Dolla ran thru MDNA into RH

BringUrLUV reacted to Fighter in The "Black Madonna" Album
According to the people who first talked about this, the pictures seemed to be more straight up blackface than the black Madonna but I don't know if that's true, and I'm not sure an album such as Hard Candy has any meaningful connection to that kind of religious imagery. It would've come across like "Madonna does black music with black producers and is portraying herself as a black person doing something that is historically racist". It would've come across like an edgelord idea, her career would've been over then and there.

BringUrLUV got a reaction from theREALmgo in Most Overrated Madonna Era?
Ray Of Light era.
Clutch those pearls.
I know artistically, the album & videos were amazing. The performances and her fashion around this time were underwhelming. I missed dance pop fierce Madonna which we got back really during the Re-Invention Tour and Confessions following that. In retrospect, it was nice to have Earth Mother Kabbalah Madonna, but at that time fans were like, is this a permanent thing?
