  1. This song is a mistery for me too. As the credits say the song is "Amor de mae" by Joaquim do Livramento but the songs you can find with that tittle and writter had nothing to do with what you can listen on the tour. Even the lyrics seem different. When it starts seems they sing "Maria, mãe de Jesus, Maria..." (that's what I understand, I don't speak portuguese) and in the Joaquim do Livramento no mention to Maria. I'd love to have more info of the song used on the tour or, at least, the full lyrics.
  2. I don't usually talk about her face, because I think it's not the most important thing to talk about Madonna but... I hate when people talks about getting old with dignity... What is getting old with dignity? I mean, for me dignity has nothing to do with our body, is deeper than that. Yeah, she uses filters, fillers and all those things but where's the problem? I mean... I have a "good" paunch but when I buy a T-shirt (for example) I don't like it to be very tight. Should I have to hear things like "You're fat!!! Have some dignity and go tight"? EVERYBODY have "problems" with their bodies (bigger or smaller) and for example when we dress we buy clothes that make us look taller or smaller than what we are, fatter or thiner... We use make up, or jewels, tatoos, we go to gyms just to look closer to what we want or like to be. Madonna is a public person yeah, but it doesn't mean that she belongs to us. She can do what she wants with her body and her faces and of course you can like it or not. I don't like her hair so long (I never liked how she looked on the Brits Awards when she sang "Bedtime story") but is her hair. For me, getting older with dignity is learn to respect the others, learn that all of us are free to do what we want as long as it doesn't hurt others and most of all learn that judge other people is what we don't want people to do with us. Dignity has nothing to do with how your face look.
  3. I thought the same when I see that... #justiceforhesaman!!!! :P
  4. I think the problem is not that she does things too late, the problem is that she announces things too soon. It's like she says "I have an idea, a new album of remixes, I'm going to post it on instagram right now!" and after that she starts thinking "Which songs do I have to include? Will be new remixes or old ones? Oh, I have to call a DJ... wait, maybe I can invite others to sing with me. Oh, the DJ is busy, I have to wait..." And all that takes time and people start to get tired of waiting and when it comes out is like "I've been waiting for this a year, I'm bored of it... Next!!!!!".
  5. I'm from Spain (in Asturias) and all the other years I got my copy. The man in the store said that he only could get two copies (it's a very small store in a small town) so I guess you don't have problem to get it. The only one that was not released here was "I rise" because (if I'm not wrong) it was only for the USA.
  6. As long as they do a nice cover instead of doing something like the "Into the groove/Who's that girl/Causing a commotion" star CD is ok for me.
  7. I remember reading in the early 90s (when "The Immaculate Collection" was released) that Warner didn't want Geffen to release the singles of "Vision quest" and that they thought that "Crazy for you" was a risk because it was a song completly different to what Madonna was releasing with them. Maybe before they made the final decission "Gambler" was the one chosen as a single but who knows. I've always find interesting this kind of stories, specially the ones from the Madonna/Virgin era. Now with Internet we have access to a lot of information that in the 80's was completly unknown. Maybe we'll get an answer on her biopic :P
  8. In one way I think exactly the same... But sometimes I see it a little reductive... I was talking the other day with my sisters and some of their friends and they start talking about Madonna and all of them thought more or less this: "I think Madonna is a myth but I miss the time when she was controversial for doing what she wanted to do. Now she looks more like "I do this not because I like it, I do it because it dislikes a lot of people". I think this is the biggest problem she have these days with the general public. They don't see her ass pictures or her grills or... as part of her artistic (and controversial) work. Yeah, there are lots of people that gets crazy in a bad way when she do this but there are millions of people too that think "Is the same ass picture over and over again??? She doesn't have interesting ideas anymore."
  9. Some parts look great but others... The dirt, the stone walls... Seems they don't care much for "Bedtime stories" videos... First "Secret", now "Take a bow"... I'm scared thinking of what will they do with "Human nature".
  10. What I heard at the time was that the no famous fans were taken from model agents or were people that worked for the show or Live Nation and that they never asked a real fan from the audience to go on stage in that moment, that they knew exactly which person was going to be there.
  11. I think that the only way to understand what an album really means and why it's considered good or not is living at the time the album was released. Is like saying after watching a science-fiction movie from 1950 "That's an overrated movie. The one premiered two months ago has much better special effects". "True blue" (and her other albums) are big not just for the songs. You can like them or not but you have to understand the album as an album made in 1986. You have to see what other artists were releasing albums and what kind of videos were made. You have to see which other women were in music at the time and what were they doing and most of all you have to understand how was life at that time. The way people thought, how they lived, what kind of access did they have to the information and the way of listening music, news and things like that. A lot of people say "Jimmy, Jimmy" and "Love makes the world go round" are just fillers, or bad songs or... But in 1986 they were funny songs and nice to listen and much better than lots of the songs that were playing on the radios. Madonna was big in 1986 and what made her big is that in 2022 some see "True blue" as an overrated album but in 1986 was one of the best albums ever made. I can understand that today people can see it as dated but that's because music evolved and now artist don't make music that way... But with all the 80's revivals we see today I only can say... "All of them are nice, but they are far away of having a glorious production like songs like "Papa don't preach", "Open your heart", "White heat"... or even "Love makes the world god round". Is overrated "True blue" as an album? For me the answer is a big No. The problem is that it misunderstood for judge it just like an album instead of judge it as a whole.
  12. "The most controversial thing I've done in my career is... to stick around the use of the word "Soon"" :P
  13. What I always heard about it is that they wanted to do a video for "Angel" but she was too busy with "The Virgin Tour" rehearsals so she didn't have the time for do it. And her other videos were continuosly on MTV and he album was selling so well that they thought it wasn't needed to make the video for the song.
  14. I've always been obsessed with the "extra lyrics" of her remixes and I can't find some of them but years ago I asked in other forum and the answer I had was "Gee whiz! Nobody’s paying any attention to me!" You were almost right!
  15. That's a big true. When I watched the Like a virgin/Hollywood from MTV and Christina started to sing I was like "Yeah, a great voice but it doesn't fit for the song"
  16. In the video shared you can see that "Where's the party" was made that way, so the first section for sure. I'd love to know if the rest of the show was made that way too... I can't imagine "Like a virgin" with that black jacket...
  17. First of all I think that most of the critics come from people that didn't hear her sing live. I remember even in "The virgin era" people saying "She's cool, but she can't sing". For me the problem was that people didn't like Madonna for the things she represented and the only way to say something bad about hear was to talk about her weakest part. They couldn't say she could not dance, they couldn't say she didn't have an incredible stage presence, she even had good critics as an actress for "Desperately seeking Susan" so... how could they disparage her??? Talking about her voice. They repeated over and over again the "She can't sing" and after hearing it so many times lots of people thought it was the truth. (I feel something similar happened with "Shanghai surprise". The movie had so terrible critics that after that everybody was saying "She can't act", "She can't act" and even before her movies were premiered people was talking about how bad they were). On the other hand, as you say, we all know Madonna is not a Withney Houston but she do nice things with her voice. I know people who sing and hearing her songs I've heard a lot of times "Wow, look at that change... it's not easy to do that" and I'm like "What??? She's just singing something "easy". As a person who doesn't know much about how to sing, there are lots of things that I don't know that they are so difficult (I don't know if I explain myself). But for a lot of people if you don't a syllabe for more than 10 seconds you can't sing. Finally I think part of the problem is the audio edition on her tours. They sound so pre-recorded that people say "Why does she do that? Becaus she can't sing". I'm not saying she's a perfect singer but I think most of the times she doesn't need so much post production on her performances. And if she doesn't like how it sounds she could make a voice recording during the rehearsals without dancing instead of use her album vocals. And just to finish... I think Madonna has a very nice voice and I prefer her when you can hear it clearly. For me songs like "Crazy for you" from "The virgin tour" or "The look of love" from "The Who's that girl tour" and lots of her performances on "The blond" and "Girlie Show" are incredible. She didn't have all the knowledges she has now, but she have.... instinct? to sing and was much better and much emotional... But it's just my personal taste. I respect that she uses vocoder and things like that now. It's her vission and I accept it but I've said a lot of times to my friends "The worst thing that Madonna has done on her career was to take singing lessons".
  18. Time to make a comparation video of the DVD, HBO and this one
  19. Hey!!!! Jimmy, Jimmy is 100000000000000 times better than "Take a bow".... :P OK, I admit, I'm some kind of freak... I love "I know it", "Shoo-bee-doo" and "Jimmy Jimmy" and I hate "Take a bow" and think "Live to tell" is a good song but boring, I only listen to the edit...
  20. I guess it depends of the place... When Madonna made her version people I know (me included) knew the song by Elvis Presley. But here, in Spain, Peggy Lee's name is know but not much about her music. And even the Peggy Lee version is a cover for the original by Little Willie John... I think that, like deathproof said, is possible that they use the Madonna version on it and that's why they say that. We'll see...
