  1. Agree American Life, Confessions and Hard Candy were really big records globally and had successful singles even if not in the US. Confessions in the UK and Europe was as loved as Ray of Light if not more so I think the move to Interscope and their mishandling of her last 3 studio albums and single release strategy has been a major factor in her more limited chart success over the last 10 years
  2. I doubt it 2 very different people on different wavelengths I think
  3. She loves the song and wanted it to be the lead single and album title but Warners said no I thought the Rebel Heart tour version was the best with a killer baseline and really good re-invention but don't think we need to hear it again - same for Human Nature
  4. See your point - I never really thought of it like that as to me she always comes across the same in her interviews chaotic joking. I suppose if Ruby's intention was to try to make Madonna look dumb or get a reaction out of her which is what her interviews appeared to do with people like Donald Trump, Imelda Marcos and Lize Minelli then she failed as Madonna came across great and it did not really work
  5. Yeah I did not understand why Ruby Wax said it was her worst interview etc - I thought it was really funny and Madonna came across really well
  6. Into the Groove/Desperately Seeking Susan/The Virgin Tour - her persona and image in all of these PaPa Don't Preach Like A Prayer song and video Vogue song and video Blond Ambition Tour & Live TV Broadcasts of the show Justify My Love song and video The Immaculate Collection Truth or Dare Sex Book/Erotica album/Era Ray of Light album Confessions album and tour
  7. I would either love her to make a follow up to Confessions - uptempo joyful dance pop/disco with great well written pop songs with classic dance/pop production (i.e. not a follow on from MDNA) Or do something dance oriented but more leftfield where she takes a chance on a relatively unknown or underground producer where the sound is either ahead of it's time or bang on trend by the time it gets released or a real throwback. I think if she really studied and spent time listening to new underground dance music across artists and genres her instincts would guide her and she should not listen to whoever has been advising her who to work with over the last 10 year - she needs producers who will give their best work and be committed to making the tracks brilliant and not just a pay day. I think it would also be amazing if she decided to work with a slightly forgotten about producer like Underworld but suppose that has the risk people will see it is dated and old so probably not going to happen Daft Punk would be good, Disclosure could be amazing for a credible 90's house dance sound that she could fit right into but with an up to date edge. Stuart Price and Patrick Leonard for songwriting could be an amazing combination. Honey Dijon produced a great version of Look Ahead with Sam Sparro. I just hope we don't get more of the Mike Dean, Kayne, Beats driving rap kind of sound - Madonna's voice really shines on house and pop/dance music I think the danger with her doing another dance type album is that we get MDNA Round 2 - I think she needs to steer clear of the EDM sound and ensue it's got that cool edge to it that will keep her credible like Ray of Light , Music and Confessions did
  8. So true - she needs to change the engineers recording her voice back to Mark Spike Stent
  9. Are all the Groove Armada mixes of Music uploaded ?
  10. Watching her perform it at Wembley Stadium on Blond Ambition I think Patrick Leaonard said in his opinion was the best song they wrote together
  11. +1 it's so good the arrangement reminds me a bit of London Grammar sound suits the track much better than the production on the album plus the extra verse is great
  12. I just wish the set list was different and that the re-inventions of the back catalogue were better. I think she missed Stuart Price's touch on the live arrangements as musical Director. Her energy was incredible on this tour, I think the Gypsy section was the best section.
  13. I do too - would love the Miami concert to leak too as a single show before they mixed in all the other screen footage from other dates and the Paris filming

  15. Hard to know what's real and what's a perception of how involved she is. I think she used to be more hands on with everything related to her music/recording career even calling up DJs and producers personally she wanted to remix her singles but think the last 3 albums I am not so sure that she has not left more to the people around her and delegated more. With MDNA and Rebel Heart I feel she was probably less hands-on than previous albums and don't think she was heavily involved in the writing and production of the tracks as she would normally have been - most of the songs on those 2 albums don't feel like her and the remixes from those albums were so generally poor I can't think she could have been very hands on in their A&R. But suppose the 2 tour DVDs she seemed to be involved too much with those and ended up with an over edited version of both shows. I think for sure she had a reputation for being very hands-on and maybe still is but wonder if she is less hands-on now at least with her recording work and promotion but do think Madame X feels more like her work and input than the previous 2 albums
  16. I am wondering if a future greatest hits album that wants to cover the Interscope albums would be better as a 'Best Of' description and select the tracks that should have been singles! But admittedly that's very subjective
  17. That's true and at the time the whole Madonna' slipped up and her career is all washed up and over etc was being discussed and she was bashed all the time in the press relentlessly - there was really nothing nice written or spoken about her in the press for about 2 years following. I think most fans still think the Erotica album was brilliant in terms of music even if she was not liked by the general public at the time and American Life too even if not as good as Music and Ray or Light - it had some great music on it. With that dip in popularity she came back with the Re-Invention Tour, Live8 and Confessions to reach another career imperial phase and after Erotica she came back with Bedtime Stories, Evita then Ray of Light. Her next moves after both those less popular albums were genius in the way she built things back up with the projects and music that followed. I think the u turn she managed after the Erotica backlash was incredible like turning the titanic around and am sure Warner Bros would have been heavily involved in that. I think she got more negative press in 93/94 than she is getting now - it was brutal. Maybe the difference in the last 10 years is that the quality of music has declined from her own high standards of amazing to three ok/quite good but patchy albums when her music used to always be so brilliant on each release even if she was not in favour with the general public like Erotica and American Life. I think if she had stayed with Warner, their expertise would have really supported and helped to steer things back after a less popular release like MDNA as had been the case before - I don't think Rebel Heart and Madame X at least in the format/versions/singles we got them and how they were promoted would have followed MDNA under Warner Bros. Up to the last 10 years when she was with Warner any mis-steps/albums not as well received have always been followed up with some great music from Madonna and really well promoted. So am really hopeful for what she might come up with if she does return to Warner and there is more focus on her music, promoting it and her credibility as an artist. I do agree with the comments that she may have been left on her own under Interscope in terms her music/recording career and output while all the focus was on the Live Nation Touring parts of her deal
  18. I do agree Eurovision and Graham Norton interview turned off the chance of general public interest in the UK in Madame X. The better remixes Tracy Young I Rise and Crave and Honey Dijon IDSIF came out way too late - maybe if they had been released up front at the album launch could have been helped?
  19. Also the last decade has seen almost no good remixes which the record company should be supporting - crap remix after crap remix for the last 3 albums with only the odd one here and there any good. Used to be more quality control on that front too - it's important if she wants her new music to get any airtime in clubs and support from DJs
