I always thought that people's reactions towards this book reveal more about themselves than Madonna.

Also the relationship with this book is gonna be based in your own personal experience.
For me when it came out and I was a queer teen in some small town. My sexual preferences were a big element of how I feel about the world and my struggles to see how and where I fit. Society imposed you to question and made it an important side of your life and everything you do.
That one of your references and inspirations, come out with a book where sexuality is shown as something else, natural, personal, open. Was such an empowerment and relief for me.
And I know lots of queer kids at the time that felt that way too. It was'nt about being into sex, but into don't making sexuality a tag to describe you. it was'nt sinful or unnatural.

Madonna first albums were a cute rebel teen, with Erotica she started exploring and experimenting, that show a softer sensual side too with Bedtime stories, Something to remember. She had the adulthood challenge with Evita and she came out as and mature strong woman with the Veronica electronica triad (ROL, Music, American)
It was a natural process of growing up. If Madonna made another Like a prayer she would'nt be where she is today.

VogueMusic got a reaction from MDNA22 in Burning Books ; Madonna's SEX book review
A piece of work that is integral to Madonna's story and mission as an artist...let alone the cultural significance then and now.
This piece of work, the subsequent era, and how she rose from it are what fundamentally separates her from every other "pop star" in the game, male or female.
Still amazed that there are fans that don't get it.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion, but Sex and Erotica were and are still her most daring works. I was floored as a 15 year old fan at the time, and I STILL think that this was Madonna at her absolute peak. ROL is very close, and I would say the logical re-invention of her career post-Sex, but as incredible as that era is, it's still not as groundbreaking as the fall of 1992. What an amazing time to be a fan it was.

Madonna's career was "over" since 1984, the only thing Sex did was show how aware she was about the hypocrisy and misogyny that was being thrown at her since the beginning. It was like "Fuck, you think that was too much, now take this".
She could have sold millions and reached #1s through the 90's being a safe, ballad singer. 'This Used to be My Playground' proves it. But in the long run, Erotica/Sex/Girlie only gave weight to her as an artist and paved the away for the pop bitches that came after.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/16/arts/music/madonna-birthday-impact.html
"In the “Sex” shot, Madonna used her body with as much animalistic force as her fellow Detroit rocker Iggy Pop. Her pose turned inside out the way sex is commonly used in pop culture nudes, expressing not a sexual lure but the power of personal confidence."

It shows she was an artist who was only interested in being true to herself. Commercial success and praise wasn't her main motivation in her career, nor should it be. If it was, she would just have just played it safe like most of the other female singers at that time and sold a lot more records.
I said it then and I say it now: Thank God for Madonna!

Also thanks to Madonna making Pop female artist as something with a empowering sexuality we arrived to where we are today.
It was always about cute pop singers or uber sexual artist, designed for men.

I don't see how it could run her career when she came with Bedtimes stories after, that was a success worldwide.
Something to Remember was pretty succesful for a compilation, she was praised everywhere with Evita and then she delivered Ray Of Light, Music and American Life.
The whole idea that Madonna's career was drowned because of Sex was more of a media/press wanting to stirr shit than anything else.

This clip just reaffirms that Madonna was right to do what she did back then.

VogueMusic got a reaction from Gâteau in Candy Shop? Not again. But how often?
I fucking LOVE Candy Shop. It's a fun, funky, little number that's always been a great jam live. I think it's the tongue-in-cheek, irreverent lyrics and the simple yet funky arrangement that fits Madonna's sensibility. I can see why she loves it so much.
And same for Human Nature. And let's face it, the song is basically her manifesto now. And rightfully so.
LOVE 'em.

VogueMusic reacted to Prayer in So Prince is releasing another deluxe album ?
Good news is she now has a blueprint of what Warner could do if she agrees to do it. This new Deluxe Edition and the one for "1999" are both AMAZING.
Also, Rhino have remastered all Alanis' "Jagged Little Pill" videos in 4K for the 25th anniversary and the results are promising:
They'll be releasing a new 4K video each week from today.
The fact that Warner/Rhino are behind all of this is great. Maybe Madonna is ready to milk her back catalogue now that big tours are not in the pipeline at least for the next year/two years?

VogueMusic reacted to Blue Jean in So Prince is releasing another deluxe album ?
I really think Prince’s estate are doing a good job with these re-releases. I expected them to just dump random compilations of unreleased songs out there similar to ‘The Vault - Old Friends 4 Sale’ but they’ve actually done a good job with these repackages. I mean this is the 3rd one now and all 3 have been very comprehensive and included live concerts with them, 2 now which have never been officially released. They’ve also put virtually all his music videos on YouTube and the Piano and Microphone and Originals albums they did were both imo good. Their RSD stuff has also been good. Overall much better than what MJ fans have gotten since he died.

He DIDNT leave a will. Im wondering if there are any jehovah's witnesses in the group that could share if this has anything to do with rules of the religion?
Like I dont think any of his family were Jehovahs and from what i remember learning when I was studying the religion in school, they really arent supposed to socialize with or be with any non-believers. I assume this would mean he probably cant enrich them either but maybe im overthinking it and he just forgot to create a will to distribute his millions appropriately.
His only full sister is in charge of his releases, along with some "fans" she has hired to help consult on these releases that are coming out AND with the upcoming "Sign o the Times" release she's having the original producer re-master it. These are beautiful releases.
