nito84bcn got a reaction from RebelHeartbreak in The Madame X Tour is almost over... so what happens next?
I don't know about her plans, but I would like to disconnect a little from her, and I mean social media, old videos, old material. Sometimes I tend to be obsessed with all her discography, playing always her records and videos and I feel like I want to discover new artists, new music, and being more relaxed. I feel like we are always worried about her, her mental health, her face, her low streamings,  her butt, and now about her physical health, and for me music is happiness, instrospection, and BEING RELAXED.
Also I don't like her endless breaks. I know 3 or 4 years are nothing comparing to other older artists, but her #comingsoons everyday, made me feel anxious and sick, and then when the record comes, is like everything moves on really quick till another endless break.
If she or her team don't know how to manage mistery and hype, I would do it for myself this time. I don't want to see twins, champagne rose, wigs or MDNA skin. When everything will be ready, it will come (if it has to).

I agree with you about each generation having their generation-defining artists although when I was a teenager I listened to music from the 50's and 60's and 70's when I was home as well as the 80's artists.  When I was with my friends we talked about what was currently on MTV and that was it. I think my friends did the same thing. Thinking back on it now I loved the older artist's classics more but I admired the ones who wanted to stay current and I did like some of thier new music.
I did look to Madonna and Prince just as two example artists to sing about what appealed to me so there is something to be said for that.  I am trying to work out how much of that is organic and how much of that is pressure that has been created. The youth movement has been pushed since the 1950's. Kids wanting to rebel and have something different from what thier parents enjoyed.
As far as Madonna being a legacy act, I have to disagree. I think an artist or a band has to cultivate that and Madonna has not given enough love if at all to her past music. While others have been basking in the glow of their genius status and talking about their music Madonna does not seem to focus on her artistry in public.
She finds herself in a difficult position because of this. There are so many people who think Madonna's music is void of artistic merit and have absolutely no idea how amazing her discography is beyond the hits.
I applaud her for being an artist where I do not groan when they play something new. I want to hear the new stuff because I think her biggest fans are interested in what she has to say above everything.
I do not think she could be a legacy act because I do not think her heart would be in it. Other bands and artists choose to use thier past and they are happy doing so.
Physically I do not know how long she can endure these shows and the fact that she doesn't seem to be accepting this tells me she is trying to endure by using the only thing she has control over now and that's her own body. They can stop her voice somewhat by banning her from radio. I wonder if that is also why she has been late to her shows. She is trying to hold on to some form of control. From the strenuous tours and aging these last ten years she is now starting to lose control of hèr body which is bringing on the tears.
What is next? She's a mother first.
I wish she would get into a more mature relationship though only because it seems to be a trend for her to date a guy in thier twenties so it's hard for me go take her relationships seriously. I have never really had that much of an interest in her love life though.
It seemed Madonna believed in something along with her defiance and now she seems just defiant. I kinda feel that way myself now. I'm getting depressed. Lol.
I want her to continue with new music because I love Madame X and I think Dark Ballet really signifies how she is seen today and how she is responding to the effort in the music industry to stop her. The song is relatable as well though. I also want her to cultivate a respect for her back catalog in more serious discussions. She can talk about it a little without destroying artistic impressions. She needs to challenge herself intellectually more instead of pushing her body.
I like your wish for all of us to enjoy her music and grow old together. ❤

God I bought a good ticket with cheap price in front of Grand Rex yesterday and I had best show ever.
Nothing compares to what I had in London a month ago. She sang so much better and the complete version of the show is a must. Impossible to miss the 3 firsts songs. HN that I couldn't stand anymore was finally so groovy and LIVE.
Oh it was so so good !

I feel like she'd be more inclined to do a Broadway residency rather than a Vegas one. I was totally expecting the MX tour to be just that, a residency staying in NY for a couple of months.

    Did she really?

They'll always make her hologram appear 3 hours late so it feels just like the real thing.

An interesting report that I read the other day which briefly mentions M and which reflects some of my thoughts on the issue... I think very soon there will come a time when mature artists - including M - wonder if the whole hassle and logistics of moving a show around the world is worth it...

@Krystofand @Blue Jeanthank you for your detailed accounts. I've enjoyed every word. I'm so relieved on many things you wrote on her injuries and pain. I was worried on the pain killers she might be taking too and relieved to know it's not opioids.

I was supposed to be at tonight's show... I feel sad even though I had the chance to see her on the 22nd of February. I do hope she will feel better very soon. At this point, I feel bad for her, trying to keep on doing her shows. If she is not cancelling some of the last 5 shows, I hope everything will go well and that she will be able to take care of herself and come back soon.
It won't be the same of course but I am looking forward to watch the Madame X show on Bluray.

I had such a fantastic time at my MX show. However, I have been quietly grieving recently when I think of M. It is completely natural with M getting older as we all are. But I have a sadness for the weakening certainty and dependency that I used to have on M to be able to come out all guns ablazing (quite literally in case of MDNAT).  Of course, M is not over as an artist - but I have to accept that the few-yearly routine of seeing M live in a knockout show will become more distant...  I sincerely hope that M in the future is able to alter her vision to produce a less-physically demanding show that she is still artistically proud of.

Honestly though... shit happens. Yes it was a mistake, unforgivable? That is a bit extreme. Of course paying attention is important but everybody makes mistakes. Choreography can get sometimes confusing when it is so repetitive and you’re “in a groove”. Mistakes can happen, I know from experience. I broke my thumb on stage because I was just careless in a performance. So, people make mistakes. I bet whoever grabbed the chair feels terrible, but ultimately I hope M is okay.

    Really...
The end of this tour is a disaster... I don't agree with her keeping on doing the show if she's not ok... It's embarrassing now. How many dates were canceled ? Some long time before, some like today or at Lisbon at last minute... If something is wrong, use insurance and cancel the tour... Maybe in late 2020 she does a leg 2 of the tour starting with Europe in better shape.
Why keeping on this show. We have lost Papa don't preach, Sodade, Crave, God control, Dark ballet & Human nature from almost all shows now. This tour will be the cursed one and it would be better to stop definitely and to come back in few month for a real revenge of stage...

Releasing the Madame X Tour as a streaming / DVD is a way to make general public forget a little about Eurovision and the drama surrounding the cancellations. I don't think she will miss the opportunity, because she needs to show her art and vission and how good was the concert, more than ever.

Madonna wouldn't pay a team and company to produce and record a tour without getting money from it later.
There's some sort of recording for all her tours.  Even RIT was a part of a documentary. It won't be different this time.

I can't imagine her not releasing a DVD and Blu-Ray. This is where she can make up the money she's lost doing a theatre tour. I hope she does it in a documentary style with a lot of details behind the scenes for everything that's happened with her injuries etc, but I'll take anything being I didn't get to see it Live this time.

She's going to finish the tour, and I hope the broadcast/streaming of the show will happen soon. Not #soon. Lol.

I can't say from my experience of seeing the show 4x in North America that she's unhappy with the show or tour itself, I can't say if she's unhappy about anything, ever... but there is a very distinct difference with her message of the show (musically, theatrically, topically. It's all very clear to me she's making feminist statements throughout the show.) versus the attitude and demeanor her Madame X persona takes, which is a little beyond bitchy and just shy of condescension. She's not going to have a cancelled tour on her resume. So the feeling I've gotten is: if she has to suffer, the so shall we.

There have been a few rare moments that she has to truly prove something, whether if she's been universally misunderstood for a project like Pepsi-gate, or the Justify My Love/Erotica/SEX period, or the American Life video, or killing it during the Confessions era with her riding accident, etc., and now with Madame X, she's not proving to everybody she can do it as much as proving it to herself.
Even a senseless mistake like a chair not being in place, on an already injured performer, can be tremendously painful to her body, not to mention her ego. Nobody likes looking like that. This is not my favorite era, but I will always root for her to succeed.
My hope for her is that she feels like she's accomplished more than she set out to do with this tour, but that she can also find contentment in the future with just performing her music; either as simply, or as complex, as she wants.

I took my ticket last year... So I must deal with it. And I'm not going to waste 400€ leaving my place that will not be bought on ebay... Let's face it too...
And I complain about the fact that I'm very very unlucky that I will always see the 3 times a second night show so I will never see God control and Dark ballet (I don't really care about the third one).
What a bad idea to cut the first segment. I think God control is perhaps one of the best moment of the show. The real opening. Why cutting this one ? She can dance less, I prefer hearing her voice (if she sings). Just sad that if she has to do less no matter what is the reason, why not cutting Crazy (I love this song but the live version is not the best part) or the worst song of the show which is Future...

    Just so so sad.
This tour is the accursed one... Her injury and the cut show... No more Sodade, Papa don't preach, Crave and then God control, Dark ballet and Human nature... At the end it's so bad to know that US had no less than 6 extra songs !

I think we should all appreciate her courage and effort to go on and not say she should cancel. Some fans have yet to see the show, she cares about them, we should respect that too.
Now only 8 shows are left.
Hope she doesn't need surgery but just a long rest. I am not implying she is not badly injured or not suffering, but yesterday that accident scared her and brought bad memories.

It's so sad.  Her only saving grace is three days off next week ...and that isn't going to help her either. She needs to completely cancel. I feel so bad for her. Her strength is impeccable and she's an example for determination and to keep going at all costs, and yet, she is also her worst enemy at this point as she could be causing (and most likely is)permanent damage. I understand she doesn't want to disappoint and lose fans, but, no one wants her to hurt herself. It's so sad.

News of Madonna report (translated from French):
As soon as she started Vogue you could read on her face that something was wrong. Madame X is not in top form. On Vogue she is on the verge of falling when she misses the chair when sitting down. A thrill runs through the audience. She pulls herself together but her hand shakes abnormally, she has made herself a big fright. She continues with the second piece and then comes the selfie. She asks for a chair, sits down and ... bursts into tears! I can't describe how it felt at the time, it was terrible to see her like that. Madonna cracks and gives herself up to us: "I'm in such pain" she manages to whisper "Look at me crying like a baby in front of you! But I don't want your pity. I was the one who wanted to do this tour and I will finish it no matter what!"

Madonna Fell and Cried at last nights Show
Review by Jeannie buxo, one of the subjects in the Like a Prayer film.
What a show . I have never witnessed madonna more vulnerable in all my journey as her fan .
I thought I was through with Madame x show after so many nights but tonight was the most memorable. Madonna came on around 11 pm.
Two celebrities cited were “JR” and David Blaine with his entire family”
I was sitting front row center . Already happy to be in this theatre but then to be in the best seat in the House was just wow. The stage was much higher than any stage of this tour and there was quite a distance from the front row to the stage . A white line was drawn so that fans knew where to stand. There was a great atmosphere before the show began . Many great friends who I had made at the “Like a Prayer” screenings in Lisbon and Paris where here so it really was nice to be see them again and to catch up. Then 30 minutes after the musicians did their pre-show , The Madame-X show began . It sadly started without the opening songs that we are familiar with. She cut the first act of the show to save her energy. So there was no “god control” , no “dark ballet”. No “human nature”. No “express yourself” with her kids. It started at ‘VOGUE.’
It was the first time I saw the show like that. This modified show started in London. So they alternate , each time she does a back to back show, the second one will be shorter.
Back to the show review . So she comes out at ‘Vogue” and looks great, and everyone is out of their seats . Including myself . Jumping and voguing to every beat . When the song is approaching the end , the dancer I think forgot to move the chair closer to m and she went to sit down but instead just dropped to the floor on her ass . She was in pain visibly and angry. Right after that she did “ I don’t search I find “ she had trouble moving . Then when it came time to take a photo of with her Polaroid camera , she kicks the camera and asks for a chair, she begins to cry, looks visibly shaken and trembling and I couldn’t believe how madonna was so vulnerable for what seemed like an endless moment . It was only the beginning of the show and madonna seemed to be falling apart before my eyes and how grateful I was to be here to try to cheer her up with my energy, that she needed from all of us . We started to cheer for her and jumping and telling her it will be ok . She said (paraphrasing) that she is the one that put herself in this Situation and she is gonna fight and see it through till the end ( meaning the tour and all of its too many tour dates ) she said several times to the audience , ”I don’t want you to feel sorry for me.”
She complained that her shoes were ugly and we said no! (They were the same cute boots that she used to wear during the blond ambition days . )
The audience gave her a rousing hand of applause and made her feel so loved .
The lucky guy who bought the Polaroid tonight paid $3,000. I had seen him earlier speak with security to secure his offer with M. They told him he would get it so he was the only one that was able to go up to approach her when she asked who is feeling generous . She mentioned how the people in Malawi have so little and they are so happy but that we who have it all aren’t . And how ironic it all is. ( she made herself out to be very unhappy at this moment )
At this moment I would have wished I had brought money , because she still literally had tears in her eyes (they brought her a tissue ) to tell her she is loved .
Before he left, she gave him two other photos so he walked away with three Polaroids !
When “American Life” began I caught her eye and she smiled. Then she saw our energy and threw her guitar pic towards Oxana and I. It landed right in front of us . And I got it ! It was a dream that I had since the start of the show .
With “Batuka” she came on very strong and back in full dance mode. Really giving it her all.like she never had a bad show start,
Then she invited us all into her fado club and she was in a good mood . She was making us sing “un deux trox…in French. This was the first time I saw Madonna drinking alchol on stage , she said she learned to enjoy Port in Portugal and they brought her a glass and her and her dancer, made a toast. When she was on the piano she said “Even though I was crying like a baby at the beginning of the show doesnt mean that I still can’t kick each one of your asses!” She was so cute.
She skipped going into the audience during “Medillin.
She skipped “Beer Chair “ and instead sat on the side of the stage stairs and sang a Beautiful rendition of “La Vie en Rose” which I loved so much . Just before the song began she asked for a glass of Rose! And she sang a line from “Champagne Rose” song !
She said at one moment during that part when she is laying down on the piano, she she is losing her mind , people on the audience said no! But she answered that it’s ok ! Lol
During “Frozen” she truly belted it out very beautifully .
She came out to do “come alive” Bare foot !
Before she began the song “Future” she said to everyone to remember the meaning of what the song “come alive” is all about . It’s about standing up for yourself and making yourself heard . Not to give up in what you believe in
She skipped “Crave” as well. I thought though for sure she would do it because they showed the song and video on the screen for a few minutes.
When “Like a Prayer”came on she looked amazing and sang her heart out and we made a short connection.
The moment when madonna and I had the most connection came for “I Rise :, she saw me jumping and she started to smile at me and we did fist bumps in the air together .
In all despite the edits, our girl is real fighter , and was trimphant and I am so lucky to have been there to witness it and to do it with my bestie who also got an amazing moment with the Queen
