My favourite memories are being 11 or 12 and going to HMV and Virgin Megastore in 1993-1994 and each time finding new CDs to buy. I think the first ones I got were the 'Justify My Love' and Rescue Me' Maxi-Singles and maybe 'Vogue'

There was something so exciting about buying CDs with a big 'IMPORT' sticker on the cover. I then discovered the Japanese EPs with 'Remixed Prayers' and remember nearly having a heart attack when I saw The Holiday Collection on CD. I NEEDED THAT CD! I'd become a fan after buying The Immaculate Collection so needed to have its counterpart with it's gorgeous maroon and gold cover.

I think the first 12" I bought was 'Vogue' as it's my favourite song, I've only recently started to collect vinyl again so have a few in my collection. I remember late 1994 getting the 'Secret' and 'Take A Bow' import maxi singles. I was fascinated at the different track listing and subtle differences with the artwork to the UK releases.

Another CD single I remember seeing, albeit, rarely, was the Erotica Remixes CD with the gold border. Back then, it felt like every time I went to the music shops I discovered something new. Nowadays I'm collecting more vinyl as my CD collection is near enough complete.

I really believe my love of collecting Madonna's music, in particular CDs, made me want to become a professional graphic designer at an early age.

Madonna – Madame X review, London Palladium: Anarchic, experimental and her best show ever
I'm not sure who was having more fun at the opening of Madonna's London residency, the audience or the star. She sang, she danced, she joked and she beamed with almost childlike glee at the crowd's adoring response. "How happy I am to have made it this far," she declared, calling London "my second home."
Madonna first played the city in 1983 to 1500 early adopters at the Camden Palace. Her next London gig was Wembley Stadium. She was clearly delighted to be back in a venue where she could not just reach out ad touch the audience, she could descend from the stage and sit in their laps. "Its so intimate. Its gorgeous and a thrill for me to be able to see all your faces."
Nobody is going to mistake the salubrious 2,200-capacity Palladium for a cosy club. But the last time Madonna played London, in 2015, it was two dates at the O2 Arena for almost 30,000 people. That is about the same number she will play to across all 14 nights in London, if she makes it through her residency in one piece.
Madonna is 61, and reportedly having problems with her knees. She has already cancelled ten shows on this tour, including what would have been its London debut on Monday. But she was in fine form shimmying and shaking across the stage in a set full of artful and exuberant choreography.
Indeed, sometimes you might wish she would just sit down and sing, because, in the moments when she did just that, she showed she was in exceptionally good voice. An interlude performing a Portuguese fado folk song was scintillating, whilst a stark rendition of 1998 electro ballad Frozen, performed solo onstage to a video of eldest daughter Lourdes dancing, was a highlight of the night.
But Madonna likes to give bang for bucks and this was not a cheap night out. Face-value tickets were priced between £376 and £1,247. What fans were presumably paying for was a chance to get up close and personal, a sense of proximity to their idol that you rarely get in the stadiums and sports arenas where she has performed since the eighties.
When Bruce Springsteen started this trend of superstars in theatres with his acclaimed 2017-2018 Broadway residency, all he brought along was a guitar and piano. Madonna’s idea of intimacy is a little different, involving a a dozen dancers, another dozen musicians, a 14-piece choral ensemble from Cape Verde and 39 crew members making sure the elaborate sets, dazzling projections and incessant costume changes all ran smoothly. Rather than stripping back her stadium extravaganzas, Madonna has essentially tried to squeeze the stadium into a theatre.
Yet crucially she infused the production with her own eccentric personality, chattering incessantly between songs in bizarre monologues that moved quirkily between ribald humour, political jokes and idealistic proclamations of artistic freedom.
During one odd interlude, she auctioned a Polaroid of herself to charity, admonishing her devoted audience for only coughing up £1,500. "Are you guys all confused by Brexit as it comes to an end?" she asked, before requesting we spare a thought for America where the nightmare continues. "We have a psychopath in the White House."
It didn't always make sense, but the show's slightly anarchic nature only added to the sense of fun. It was like a cross between experimental theatre and showbiz extravaganza, Busby Berkeley meets Ballet Rambert fired up with monster pop tunes. Pop music is supposed to be weird, sexy, silly and exciting and this show was all of that and more.
Madonna has survived so long in this fickle business because she loves what she does, and tonight it showed in her smile. I've been watching her live for four decades, and this may not have been her slickest or most spectacular - but her wacky joy in performance made it the most entertaining Madonna show ever.

Before the digital age made physical singles a thing of the past, it was a joy and pleasure as a Madonna fan finding singles at the CD section of a store, in second hand shops, listening to the remixes of the accompanying single, the artwork and B-Sides and excluded tracks used as bonuses. I know the fanbase has its world of collectors who are knowledgeable in the different versions, editions with different artwork and rare versions of tracks released. What are some of your favorites and some your own?  Tried to create a different type of thread from "If Madonna did this, what would you change" threads? Feel free to post your own stories of your collection and pics if you'd like.

For me, it was always the Express Yourself run up until Rain singles that seemed to stick out to me. Seeing the brunette Madonna on Express Yourself single art, the inclusion of Supernatural on Cherish, the different mixes to Justify My Love and others. Not to mention how despite some being video shots of previous works managed to make it look iconic. See "Vogue" using an "Express Yourself" photo. I remember buying the Erotica maxi single and getting a huge poster of Madonna from a Meisel shoot included with it.

No way. I dont want my M on a bar stool doing a acoustic show.  there may be others who jump around but nobody does it Like M.  No one does a show like M. I have seen plenty of the other ladies (loved their concerts) but there is just something missing.  The absolute detail of M's shows, the costumes and how M is always centre stage and in focus.  Some of the other shows with other artists sometimes the artist gets lost with all the dancers and some of the dancers costumes.  Oh dear.  they look like they have been picked up at a garage sale.  We should celebrate that M takes so much care in every aspect.  M has always used the joy of dance and movement in her music and shows.  That's a true part of her.  Look where she started. Lets not want to take that away.  Its part of the reason we love her so much.  She has had a injury.  It can happen to all of us who are physical. It has nothing to do with age.  Artists much younger than her have had it happened and cancelled whole tours.  We are just lucky this has never happened before in her career. rather than cancel the whole tour she's giving her best for most of us to see the show. Power to her

As much as I'm now looking forward to the MX show next week (if it goes ahead), I was originally looking forward to something along the lines of this... a 'mature, live band, jazzy' set with M's warmth and connection with the audience. I adore this performance for so many reasons - a breath of fresh air. Without all of the fireworks. In that sense, I get what TR is saying - but she will develop the show artistically in her own way and I'm there for the ride. Tim Rice should appreciate that.
