You become a sponge to your environment if you're the odd one lol. Maybe New York truly was her first reinvention accent-wise. OMG! The only time I did somewhat hear her speak with the Midwest accent was during the opening of SNL 1985! Wow!

    Saw clips of her long ago. Guess she tried to pursue some attention in light of Madonna’s success after True Blue. ALSO, this makes me wonder... how come Madonna never was heard with a Midwestern accent like that used by Paula here? She’s from Detroit, I’m sure all her youth she spoke with a Midwestern accent lol.

    Here in L.A. “Borderline” “Open Your Heart” & “La Isla Bonita” & “Like A Prayer” were filmed Borderline • 4th Street Bridge, 457 South Santa Fe Avenue (Madonna dancing with homies) • 6th Street & Alameda (Pool hall, Salvadorian food place) • Molino Street Lofts (photographer boyfriend studio) Open Your Heart • Most were shot in Echo Park near Downtown L.A. • Toluca & Court Streets (peep show theater on an empty lot) • N Edgeware Road (Madonna & little boy run off in the sunrise) La Isla Bonita • 1312 & 1318 Maryland Street, Los Angeles, CA (apartment & street locations) Like A Prayer • 205 N Culver Ave near Compton area (actual church location including the door, & murder scene) • Hills next to church apparently was where the burning crosses were located

    Not to mention Into The Groove would've been the perfect icing on LAV to add with Gambler and Crazy For You if they were all on the album. Yes, LAV would have been MORE of a sonic non-cohesive perfection if all those bops would've been in one proper album lol. It just would satisfy my mild clinical OCD.

She's not a huge artist here in the U.S. but internationally she is very well known. Kinda like a Kylie Minogue but Mexican counterpart

      It also worth noting that Jean Paul Gaultier is the designer of the dress, who also did Madonna's cone bra in the Blond Ambition Tour. The resemblance of which is clear when she took off her robe to reveal the white cone bra dress. <3
