Blue Prince got a reaction from Levon in Madonna unfollowed Anitta on Instagram? ?
You did actually. She doesn't care about anyone but herself is wrong in so many ways, as she is a woman who has loved many people, family and beyond. She loves her children, she has stood by the side of quite a few dying celebrities, has raised a village and put it on the map and you are not in her life to know whether she cares about others or not. There are hundreds of collaborations happening every day and I really doubt whether the artists themselves remember each other after a while. Also, Madame X's major reason for even little success is Madonna's name, nobody else's.
You just sounded like you hated her and it's also peculiar that you open a topic observing and wondering why M is not following Annita, just to respond to yourself actually on page two that she is a horrible person only into herself.

Mostly, the fans who are that bitter have been with her from the start. They're not well adapted to today's sound and they don't want that from Madonna. If they could they would have her work on old material, rerelease things and never do anything new again unless it's with Patrick Leonard.
We have to respect them because they are the ones that made her all rich and famous and I understand how it pains them to see her sell one million copies at best when she could hit thirty in her prime. However I don't understand why people who used to be fans would go dragging her as she is now on some forum. If I didn't enjoy her music anymore I would listen to her older albums and never watch what happens with her online.
Sure she has been the most successful female artist during every stage of her career compared to her peers and she still is now. I try to tell people here that while she is still alive she doesn't belong to a museum and must produce more music, that will be her legacy. Her legacy is not complete yet. And I feel like everything she does is looked upon by some lens that distorts reality. She can do an acclaimed song or performance that media will love her for and here the perception is always of it being mediocre.
Bitter fans can be right about many things but sometimes when something is bothering you more than it pleases you, it's better to relax and try to learn from those who still enjoy it. Because current Madonna might be a nightmare to remind some how age destroys things, but she is also a role model to others who are young now. And a better one at that than most out there.

In continuing MI's Madonna's career retrospection posts, here is Question #3: If you were to name THREE of Madonna's SINGLES that best represent her and her career as a whole at this time, which singles would you choose and why? (If you can't stop at three, you can name more). If you didn't answer with your choices for her Albums and Videos , he sure to do so HERE and HERE.
Ok, for my three singles (this is so hard), I'm going with LIKE A PRAYER, RAY OF LIGHT. and MUSIC.....for the iconicness of each one separately, for the differences is sound and writing, and the timeless mark they made on the charts. I also think she had this way of bringing everyone (of all makes of life and the world over) together with each.  If I were to name two more: I'd pick HOLIDAY and VOGUE. I could go on and on. lol
Thanks so much, All! Your answers so far in each thread have been fascinating.

I'd pick Like A Prayer because it represents so many of the themes Madonna has used in her career and it'd be a shame not to include a Like A album. It's the album of a daughter.
After that, probably Ray Of Light where she has fully evolved her sound, her belief system and has a new voice . That is the album of a mother.
The third would be Rebel Heart I think. It's a safe choice because it sounds a lot like a greatest hits album and actually represents Madonna for who she is and what she has achieved. Also, it has a fresh sound and we have to include a record to represent 21st century Madonna which has been the longer portion of her career. That would be the third age album of an icon.
Those are the albums I'd suggest to any friend wanting to start somewhere with her.

It's refering to water and she has also said that she wrote it after running under heavy rain when in Michigan till she found herself where her mother had been buried.
However for a long time I thought it meant Mere Girl, like it was supposed to be a humbling song, like she could be just any girl who lost her mother, living with that loss.

Yap, I think this sums it up perfectly. I mean, she couldn't have been on top FOREVER. She's been active for nearly 4 decades (!!) with a constant stream of hits. How many artists in the history of music have had that privilege?!
I also think it boils down to projection. Fans are also getting older themselves and the reality of age hits them. To see their once-near-divine-goddess canceling shows because her body is starting to cave in and not being the center of news everywhere anymore is a bit of a shock. But it's normal, it's expected, it's life.
Age is not destroying her, age is reinventing her again. Although I do wish that reinvention didn't include grillz.

I'm sorry but sometimes I feel like I'm living in a different reality than some of her fans.
Everywhere I go, every time I watch something, every time I meet someone, Madonna is there. Just yesterday I counted 5 Madonna references in shows I've watched in the past week alone. My non-fan friends send me things they see of her all the time, like a t-shirt at a store or whatever.
The woman had a #1 album in several countries just 18 months ago, followed by a sold-out tour of very expensive tickets that sold like hot cakes. She was universally appraised after 3 mediocre albums and at the age of 60 (!).
Why do some fans focus so much on the butt and grillz and elevate those things to the same level of her work? That's like 10% of her. Yes, her Instagram is cringy but you guys know she's a boomer, right? lol what did you expect from a 60-year old woman on the internet... and I've seen way worse, to be honest.
I 100% disagree that younger people don't know her music, or at least that's not what I see in my personal experience. Her hit songs from Like a Virgin to Girl Gone Wild are very well known by the few 18-20-year olds I know and they do like her. Online I also get that feedback. She's seen as an icon, the Queen of Pop, the top of the hierarchy. Her status is unchanged by some grillz or whatever she may feel like wearing...
I understand disliking the implants/grillz/cirurgies but to say she looks "cheap, basic, unflattering" when she's dressed in amazing outfits with bomb-ass makeup and hair for the gods just screams of sexism, ageism and even classism to me... but that's just my point of view.

Some fans have a hard time looking at a woman that doesn't have hits anymore so they say she's over when in fact... she's doing better than anyone at her age. Still #1 albums, best selling theater tour ever just last year, best streaming numbers than anyone from the 80s or prior among female acts, etc.
How was Tina doing at her age or Cher? Or anyone else? In fact Look at all the women now hitting 50. 10 years younger than madonna.
Mariah is always everywhere during Christmas but no one gave a shit about her album.
Jlo released s single like 2 months ago and no one cared. Kylie does good in one country.
Madonna is doing fine. Shame her fans don't realise it just because she's not giving us Confessions part 2 lol.

    Top 3 it's veeeeeeeery hard.
RAY OF LIGHT, EROTICA, TRUE BLUE.
All very diffrent, but i think they are her turning points. Like A Virgin and Like A Prayer are so legendary (mostly because of the title songs), but "my top 3" is the best to represent her career as a whole piece. I rejected automatically: BS, Music, AL, HC, MDNA and MX. I think that if i could i would go with Confessions as a fourth one. If i could pick 5 i would go with LAP.
TB defines 80s the best. Erotica and ROL are turining points.

Hi Hi. Question: If you were to name THREE of Madonna's albums (excluding her greatest hits) that best represent her and her career as a whole at this time, which would you choose and why? (If you can't stop at three, you can name more)
I would choose Like A Prayer (for the emotion, the controversy, and religious aspect), Ray Of Light (for the complete mix up from her previous albums, the spiritual and life journey, and the experimental sound. Also, for her beauty and creative Geisha style), and Confessions On A Dancefloor (for the full on dance album and for the dancer she is).

No you are not delusional. And while in Erotica it's about the sex, the taboo, the prohibition, I think the other two have an X symbolising their more futuristic nature as well as her wandering through uncharted territory musically.
Interestingly enough all three have been a career low of hers commercially as they sold the fewest copies of all previous studio albums.
Music and Ray of light are pretty experimental too so I believe that X definitely leans to the dark side somehow, as those two are happier records, more acceptable ones. She might be using X when she is accessing thoughts inside her that she may feel guilty about or scared to tell others.

Why that hate on Gaga? She is a very talented Lady that was a breath of fresh air from 2008 to 2011. She deserved all her hits. After that, what's keeping her alive also has to do with her being graceful, huge gay icon and powerful vocalist. Also very versatile. I don't think Madonna has had anything to do with Gaga's trajectory. If anything, as a teenager in 2012 Madonna's name was often mentioned in school just because she was compared to her. I understand what you say partly but I'd rather see Gaga, a talented woman who likes to experiment, having her chances rather than any random teenager with a huge Tik Tok army behind them doing the same boring miserable thing. She earned what she has now by herself. M has been playing victim for a while now too, being the icon attacked by misogyny, ageism etc.
