  1. What?! Rolling Stone has a format called musician on musician and who's the artist M shares the talk with? ... Maluma? She looks good in the vid but, sorry, it's such an underrated association for her!
  2. I think Confessions was her most perfect live show. She was gorgeous, her voice was absolutely on point and the arrangements and settings perfectly fitted the mood of the album. It's maybe the most coherent concert of all her career: a two hours long homage to the 70s, early 80s disco culture, it was such fun to enjoy all the quotes she proposed during the night, from I feel love to Disco Inferno and, of course, the hole Abba tribute. The disco ball landing and opening is undoubtebly her best entrance ever: what an image that huge crystal flower in the center of the stage! The equestrian look and idea was very Madonna, after falling from the horse a very few months before, with such a bizarre and fascinating coreo. So were the acrobatics of Like a Virgin, the strong and deep images of the Live to Tell and Forbidden Love performances, the fun of the Music homage to Saturday Night Fever and the sensuality, femininity and elegance of You Thrill Me (my favourite performance). She also served the best live rendition of Ray of Light imo and, of course, the energy of the iconic Hung Up coreo: this show is almost a highlight as a whole! The only reason why it's just my third favourite is that I'm not a huge fan of the 70s disco and that kind of sound and imaginary, I did not get mad for the record, even if I recognized the absolute quality of the production, so loving it live so much, that night in Rome, was such a surprise. It's been the last time I loved one of her shows at this level unfortunately. The one I liked the most after Confessions was Rebel Heart ten years later ... waiting and hoping for Madame X to surprise me.
  3. ReInvention is one of my faves, maybe the only real catalogue-centered setlist. It was an unforgettable experience wich really left me satisfied and happy, 'cause no, I'm not the kind of fan who always loves what she creates, I'm very critical to be honest, but still I go on believing in her, because, for example, after so many years, I consider Madame X one of her best albums. Anyway, that night in Paris most of the perforances were epic. The roughness of the whole set perfectly fitted the American Life/The beast within mood and she looked gorgeous, I think it was her best shape ever, with the following Confessions Tour. The show was structured but still left many free moments that made me feel in the audience of a live concert and not in front of a kind of videogame experience (Drowned world, wich also had a pair of really magical moments, Sticky and Sweet and Mdna are quite the opposite for me ... and I saw them all live) Her voice was amazing (Lament, Crazy for you, Mother and father were gorgeous to listen to, I just concentretad on her voice and it was brilliant), the arrangements were crative and not all over covered by technologies, from Like a Prayer (the best versiont imo) to Deeper and Deeper (such a gem the way they realized the passage of genre, wich is the kind of reinvention I like the most), from Holiday (what an energy and what an idea to make it that tribal) to Material girl (the fun it was singing along in such a rockish sound, it seemed the whole building was bumping!) and American Life, wich should have had this fucking rock grit in the album version and would have smashed the charts imo (cause yes, she can do good rock tracks, if she really wants to get that result - and I don't mean I love NY or Candy Perfume girl honestly). The choreos were amazing and absolutely on point: Vogue, Nobody knows me (precision, energy, class), American Life, Bedtime story, Die another day, Music, the Hanky Panky burlesque and Holiday, all highlights. The costumes were elegant, even if not the most creative ones, except the first set bustier wich I loved so much with the suit of the acoustic set. My second best after the Girlie Show
  4. Ok this is her best ever in my opinion, never again she wen this far, experimenting with the theatrics, genres, arrangements. I absolutely agree with @Enrico, the Girlie Show is the perfect synthesis of the WTG energy and sound and the BA kind of mise en scene. Coreos were sophisticated and sexy as never before and never after: it was a REAL journey, from the lash atmospheres of the Erotica tracks to the military extravaganza of an almost 13 minutes long performance wich easily flies away in continuous musical changes and jokes, from the Weimar Republic ambiguous provocations to the sex liberating disco culture of the 70s, the Dangerous Liaisons scenario and the Indian godess Kali inspired geometries (still iconic). The costumes are still the most elegant, sometimes bizarre but never excessive (the best with the Rebel Heart Tour ones imo). Girlie Show is Fellini, the Barnum circus and the look of a solitary pierrot. She literally rewrote half of the Erotica tracks to give them life on stage and with such results (Rain, Why's it so hard, Erotica herself), but most of all she destructured in the most original ways her old classics, from the exhilarating funky of Express Yourself to the severe waltz of Like a Virgin, from the caribbean triumph of La Isla Bonita to the rockabilly XVIIIth century outro of Justify My Love (what a crazy, inventive, smart and funny expedient). And all the musical worlds and artists she quoted, from Marlene to Marvin Gaye, from the Temptations to Gene Kelly or Sly and the Family stone. Jay Winding was the musical director back then: she still worked listening to musicians ideas and not the last DJs summer hits. YET I CAN'T HELP THINKING THAT SHE COULD HAVE GIVEN US SOMETHING AT THIS LEVEL WITH MADAME X IF SHE JUST WANTED TO REALLY WORK ON IT ... God bless the Queen anyway, God bless the Girlie Show, "the greatest show on Earth".
  5. Me too, I'm a huge fan of this show! t's one of her best in terms of energy and grit. She did look free here, as it maybe hardly happen in the future tours, a lioness every move, avery note, not a single moment missed. For me Who's That Girl is the one with the most rockish attitude, wich showed how musch this twentysomething was not the usaual one hit star, but quite a kind of her own. Sorry, but I never saw such a thing in young Gaga, Riri (whom I adore) or Demi (neither in older M to be honest). WTG for me was the real beginning of her future status: fuck, she is different!
  6. No, this is absolutely true!! I always say that when I tell that story, she gave me the opportunity to know the city where I wanna go living sooner or later. I live in Rome, so you can imagine it doesn't happen that often to dream a new place, it happened just once before and it was London, where I later spent almost two years of my life. Lisbon had a kind of magic I just didn't wanna leave, I felt free and welcomed as in very few places, the energy, the sensualty (I don't know I have a weakness for the language I suppose ...), it was warm but didn't seem too cahotic
  7. EXACTLY!!! Even my cold heart is starting to feel some ... thing at this point (especially after having flown to Lisbon just to see her performing live this amazing album and she cancelled it just one hour before the beginning of the show)
  8. Oops, sorry ... I really love the second part though
  9. I love ratings and I really loved loved loved this album (definitely in my top 5): I can't miss this! I DON'T SEARCH I FIND CRAVE KILLERS BATUKA DARK BALLET COME ALIVE CRAZY CIAO BELLA (hate the title though) EXTREME OCCIDENT FUTURE I RISE FAZ GOSTOSO GOD CONTROL BACK THAT UP LOOKING FOR MERCY MEDELLIN FUNANA BITCH I'M LOCA
  10. Yeah you're right, it's beautiful I have an obesession for perfect noses (I do hate mine) ... seems natural anyway Apart that, I mean, let's say it: we really needed this new look, right? ... intense, if I'd have to describe it For the italian fans: Loredana Bertè was right when she said M took inspiration from her, just not for the Virgin looks
  11. LEONARD LEONARD LEONARD: solid writing, solid melodies, interpretation and lyrics Why not hoping for a Like A Prayer/Ray of Light kind of quality and depth anymore?
  12. Let's hope they're wrong ... let's hope for some new ideas, she already did it and quite beautifully.
  13. It was really played a lot in Italy back then and it was a hit. people adored her in that period: try to imagine, it was her comeback after Vogue, Blond Ambition, Juastify my love and Truth or Dare, waiting for the announced release of her new album (almost four years were passed since her last studio album). It was the theme song of the Olympic games too, if I remember correctly, the track was all over, radio, tv, cinema (cause first of all it was the soundtrack of A league of their own, one of her most succesful movies). I think it's hard to understand the proportions of the 80s 90s stardom, compared to the kind of charisma and media comunication popstars have nowadays. My idea is that social networks changed a lot in the game, moving artists quite closerr to their audience, and I think people went tired of the huge, dinstant and arrogant star rethoric wich made Madonna or MJ such idols (the same happened with top models). She even snubbed TV in the 80s, her appearence were so rare and publicized that easily became events: imagine the launch of a new single. Anyway, back to the track, I think it's such a beautiful, intimate and underrated song, it's one of those tracks wich really shows her interpreting talent: the malincholic tone of her voice, the dramatic effect of the vocal interlacing, the strings interlude Unfortunately she never considered it again and it got lost, it definitely cannot be considered one of her classics nowadays.
  14. Chalamet already arrived with the coolest reinterpretation of a white suit ... and Lil Nas X just arrived
  15. Well guys, you know what? It's just a matter of minutes, let's give it a chance and share the fun, one way or another
  16. Wow really?! WE NEED A LINK HERE IN EU! please, in the meanwhile, update us and, if possible, record her moment to share it ( after the Brits, the Eurovision and the 2021 Pride event, I have to admit that when I hear she's going to perform I'm also a little scared for her )
  17. Does anybody think that her Piaf's Milord quote on Instagram could be a reference to what she's working on for the MTV Awards? Wouldn't it be lovely? I mean, that kind of mood is very Madame X-ish ... just dreaming, right?
  18. THIS! AND ABSOLUTELY THIS! Terrible idea keeping the project in her own hands imo, for various reasons
  19. Am I too naife, still hoping for some bonus unreleased demos in every reissue? ... I know, don't say so
