I can't at people shading Cyndi. Who cares if she does milk that album. Madonna should do it too. Maybe Madonna doesn't need that money, but Madonna does need promo for her old stuff. Girls Just Want To Have Fun has more views on YT than any Madonna classic.
I think She's So Unusual anniversary edition was cute with those stickers or whatever. More importantly, there were unreleased songs as bonus material. Cyndi did the right thing, Madonna didn't.

At least Madonna and her team did something, but it wasn't anything special. Other artists did it better.
Does anyone else watch Absolutely Fabulous? Current Madonna reminds me so much of Edina Monsoon.
In one old episode, Edina was wearing some thing in her pants that was supposed to shape her ass.
In one of the latest episodes, Edina tells Bubble, her assistant, to do everything to promote some French singer. Bubble's reply was "Should I just twitter it?". And she did just that. In Madonna's case, her team just made a Spotify list of existing songs.
Even we could have done that.
On a serious note, her team is going in the right direction, but they should try to do something amazing with her legacy (HQ videos on YT, DVD releases of her tours...).

Agree. I don't get why some fans see this thread as negative. It is a fact that Madonna's latest videos didn't come close to her older videos. Madonna herself said videos weren't important anymore and her newer videos aren't art like classic ones.
When it comes to great music videos, I think indie and alternative artists are the ones who deliver such. Even with low budget, they are able to deliver something artistic and beautiful.
On the other hand, critics and media hype too much videos of commercial artists these days. They are simply overrated. And it all comes down to how many views they have on YT. It is funny that the worst and most basic videos have the most views, while something like Madonna's Vogue isn't there. Critics and general public make a big deal about basic videos. Ariana keeps delivering tacky videos with CGI or basic videos, while media acts like they are watching Express Yourself. The standards are so low, but nobody will admit that.
Although Madonna didn't delivered artistic greatness like in the past, she is actually still good. GMAYL, GGW, LFL and Ghosttown shitted on videos by other commercial artists. Madonna delivered fun and humor with GMAYL, something that Katy tries to achieve, but fails with kitschy visuals, try-hard acting and production that reminds of cheap videos by almost unknown eurodance or whatever acts from the 2000s. Madonna being able to deliver sex appeal with GGW, something that Gaga didn't manage to do so far. Living For Love proved that Madonna still can be so interesting when her works get inspired by another culture and she pulled it off without being tacky. Even Ghosttown was closer to movie experience than all those tacky CGI videos overrated by critics.

The presence of other celebs only makes the video more legendary, but it doesn't diminish the appreciation for the song.
It isn't legendary at all. I mean, some people didn't even have time to come on the set. It was just a fun mess. That's all.

Like it or not but BIM is a very experimental song with a fresh sound that got quickly imitated. Ghosttown failed to impact pop culture cuz it is such a basic song that could have been released by anyone else.
The lyrics of BIM are full of self-irony and more funny than the parody itself. You sound like Madonna while describing the shitty lyrics as ironic. Every time Madonna delivers bad lyrics, they are supposed to be ironic. Why can't it be good and ironic lyrics? It is just a lame excuse from Madonna or fans.
The lyrics are cliche. A party song that could have been written by anyone. It doesn't even make sense. Madonna sings "we this, we that...", but then she claims "bitch, I'm Madonna". Why using "we" at all, if she is the one who is allowed to do what she wants?
When it comes to music, Madonna isn't the first one who did that sound. There is something unique about it, but it sounds cheap and like a demo. It was a nice idea, but needed more tweaking and maybe better lyrics could have made it to be a better song.
Sophie's weird beats made more sense on this song.

Aside from OP, which shows some impact of BIM (not that Madonna is the first who did that sound), BIM didn't really have an impact. I don't get why fans keeping saying that. All RH singles flopped and just because one single got some attention doesn't make it huge. Let's not mix "popularity" on YT with impact.
The truth is BIM would have tanked even harder, if Madonna didn't bring all those celebs to her video. General public only paid attention to BIM because of the video.

That's the point - GARBAGE imitating GARBAGE - thats what a parody is !! Lol
Qualitative works can also be parodied, not just bad songs and videos.

This is too easy.
20th century, of course.
Three masterpieces: Like a Prayer, Erotica and Ray of Light.
Artistic and brilliant music videos, most of the time. Even simple stuff like Lucky Star shits on many 2000s/2010s Madonna videos.
Great hits, great music, great looks, great tours...
And Madonna's natural voice that isn't auto-tuned or whatever.
Madonna evolving from an artist with simple pop songs to the artist with more complex and better music.
No constant features, no Madonna being a mess on Instagram.
Not contradicting herself like in the 2010s - calling some older songs cheesy, then making cheesy and basic songs.

This will be interesting and a nice addition to Madonna Mania.
It would be great if LAP anniversary edition gets released around that time.

Well She never focused on Bedtime stories. I feel that maybe she should d a few songs from that album for the next tour or a show.
maybe a lost perfomance for BS
It would be great.
She should have performed more BS songs on previous tours. Survival could have easily been an intro for Human Nature on S&S tour or MDNA tour. Sanctuary too, as an intro for some ballad.

Since I expect the album to contain electronica, I think it might dictate what other old songs will be on the setlist.
Honestly, I don't want Music and AL to play a big role. On Tears of a Clown she focused too much on Music, AL and ROL. I am not interested in that. One song from each album would be enough.

Her official Facebook page has recently asked fans if they wanted to hear ‘Bad Girl’ on the next tour.
???
I remember they asked what songs fans would like in the past? Fans had some good suggestions, but Madonna didn't perform those songs.

Madonna announced surprises and it is time that one of her best works finally gets anniversary reissue. That would be a great surprise next to the new album. But would Madonna want LAP around the new album? She wants us to focus on the new era, so a reissue seems unlikely. On the other hand, it could be a good thing for the new album. Madonna would be in the spotlight for an old work, but it could promote her new album too.
However, I doubt she and Warner will make an agreement.

I doubt Love Attack would be included as it was rejected for not fitting the LAP Album...lets hope and add the demo of Express Yourself as Stephen Bray considers this superior to the album version that that list of yours!
Actually all songs that are outtakes were rejected for not fitting the album vibe.
The point of an anniversary reissue is to include a bonus CD with outtakes and demos.
Many latest Grace Jone reissues contained that. New Kate Bush remastered collection contains all studio albums plus additional CDs with bonus stuff (B-sides, outtakes...).

American Life was OK as a lead. The whole album didn't really have songs that could be hit singles.
GMAYL was one of the better songs on MDNA imo. Besides, it was an obvious choice for a single. Sure, there were more creative and better songs like GB and I'm Addicted, but they weren't radio friendly like GMAYL.
LFL was boring imo. Too safe, nothing epic and interesting about it.

It is a generational thing. It doesn't have to be necessarily ageism, although it is there too.
As kids or teens, we all were stanning artists that were huge at that time. Artists from the past, who were still active, didn't get our attention, no matter how great they were. Simple as that. And the same thing still happens.
I didn't hate older artists, in fact, I thought Madonna was cool. I enjoyed watching some of her classic videos, before becoming a stan. I think it isn't common for kids and teens to like older artists. They build their individual taste later in life, but many of them keep liking what is served to them, in other words commercial music for masses.
Now, we live in an Internet era, where everyone can express themselves. There are many new female artists and their fans will express hate towards Madonna while defending their faves. Why? Well, there could be many reasons. Gaga thing shouldn't be explained. Others could hate her because Madonna is the queen of pop. The superior one. The supreme. Untouchable. If Ariana fans think Ariana is the best, then there is no space for Madonna, hence the hate.
There is also jealousy. For example, some Mariah fans call her fave "the best selling female artist" and even Mariah's team does the same. Madonna achieved so much. Other girls could only dream of about it. Most new popular artists are basic in every way (music, videos, looks). There is no individuality. Fans of those artists think they are the best and do something huge and groundbreaking. It is all over-hyped by those fans, by public or media. The standards are lowered and trash music is put on a throne.
And Internet does affect music in a bad way. Streaming, YT and whatever create official charts. There is too much of the same songs on charts. No diversity like in the 80s or the 90s. It is just the most commercial music most of the time. Could these days some grunge song become a hit? Or some melancholic ballad like This Used To Be My Playground? Kitsch is present more than ever.
Anyway, Madonna is still relevant. There are haters or media who say she isn't, but there are proofs that confirm she is. People still talk about her. Her messy moments on Instagram, Brits fiasco, statements... Do people make such a big deal about what Cyndi Lauper does?
Besides that, Madonna is still a touring force. She is still able to influence others (just look at SB performances done after Madonna's one). She scored a top 10 hit with GMAYL in USA. Maybe it wasn't really a hit song, but she reached a good spot on charts. Also, MDNA sold 2 millions and RH sold 1 million. This is great for an artist who started career in 1982. And let's not forget that other artists struggle to sell too. Gaga's latest album sales are similar to Madonna's. This only shows that Madonna is still a competition. She is still on the map.
I think Madonna herself told that getting older and still doing things is the most controversial thing she did. None other artist had such a constant success. That's way even older people, who are fans of other legendary artists, hate her.

Is this a big deal really?
She needs a new manager and a new promotional team.

Wait, you are behind A!O remixes?
Today, I have been listening to your Deeper and Deeper remixes that I downloaded from your site in the past.

Madonna was officially gonna release Unapologetic Bitch as the first single, but was changed to LFL at the last minute. Wonder why the change..
On 12/9/2018 at 10:21 AM, xavier said:Can’t remember what magazine but prior to LFL being announced, Diplo did a brief interview to hype the album and said the first single is done and ready. He described it as an unapologetic Reggae dance floor banger. While he didt name it specifically, the description leans towards UB
Perhaps, it was one of the songs considered to be a lead single.
Anyway, Diplo also claimed that the album would have had reggae feel.

When it comes to The Immaculate Collection, it is hard to choose, but i would add Who's That Girl and Causing a Commotion (or Dress You Up).
The Second Coming was a perfect title and a logical continuation to The Immaculate Collection. The 90s Madonna was all about quality and art. Some songs like Bedtime Story weren't hits, but they are so important. I think it would have been better if the compilation was released after American Pie during 2000.
The Immaculate was released in 1990 and if The Second Coming was released in 2000, then it would have made sense that the third compilation was released in 2010. I don't know about the title, but if it was a box set that included previous compilations, The Holy Trinity would make sense.
