  1. https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2020/01/26/grammy-award-winners-2020-full-list-updating-live/#4b2e566e4ccb She won! Amazing! Congratulations to Tracy!
  2. "A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That's why they don't get what they want." "I hate people who hate women. Actually, I hate people who hate!" "I know I'm not the best singer and I know I'm not the best dancer, but I'm not interested in that. I'm interested in pushing people's buttons, in being provocative and in being political."
  3. I have also heard that a lot of these quotes are fake as well. But, it is still a shame that Madonna and Mariah weren't recognized. I think it has more to do with them not being young, new artists. They're just not even in the conversation anymore when it comes to the mainstream.
  4. For whatever reason, I love it when she says that.
  5. This is so saddening. I am sorry to all the fans who have been affected. I think she should cancel the tour. This is not good for the fans or Madonna herself. She shouldn't be putting her health in jeopardy and fans should not have to be worried about their shows being cancelled on the day of.
  6. My favorite is Bad Girl. It's so haunting and so beautiful. It always pulls me in and makes me feel like I'm a part of the story. It also has an amazing music video. My other favorites are Candy Perfume Girl, Mer Girl and What It Feels Like For A Girl.
  7. Haha! Madonna definitely helped inspire the girl power movement.
  8. I never really got into this song until about a year ago when I started hearing it on my local retro radio station more frequently and I fell in love with its campy vibes. For a long time, Madonna really didn't like being associated with this song, so I learnt to not take it seriously. It's obviously an exaggeration/dramatization. I also like how she reclaimed the name "Material Girl" later on. To me, it's a very fun song and it's definitely very iconic.
  9. I actually really like this song haha. But, it's definitely a song of hers that is discussed the least, which is okay, obviously. The lyrics remind me a lot of the style in which I used to write poetry for a class I had. The message, I think, still resonates today when it comes to gender ideals and standards in society. I do prefer the original to the remix that was used for the music video, though.
  10. I am sorry to all those who have purchased tickets and have been effected by the cancellations, but I personally think she should cancel the rest of the tour. She is in pain and she could be making her injury even worse right now by continuing. She needs to stop and rest. Once she recovers after truly taking the time she needs, hopefully, she will be able to perform on tour again and those who didn't get to see her will have the chance to.
  11. 94. Madonna and Babyface's styles really meshed well in the 90s. There's a certain emotional element to it that I really like.
  12. I would just like for her to be with a label that will really promote her music. A lot of artists who have been in the music industry for a long time put out new music and it's almost like it never happened because the only people that really hear about it are the fans (not trying to point fingers at any specific labels, like Live Nation, though). It seems like people forget about these albums so quickly and that's why it feels like every era is getting shorter.
  13. Wow. I love them both so much. I'm going to say Secret just because it's so unique and different than a lot of the songs in Madonna's discography. I also love the messages about loving yourself before loving someone else and that you are key to your own happiness. M and Dallas Austin did an amazing job! Human Nature is great, too, though! I love to listen to it when I feel like I'm being pushed around. It's so powerful and unapologetic.
  14. I heard Like A Prayer on a throwback mix on the radio. Like A Prayer seems to be one of the more popular Madonna songs in my area when it comes to the radio, but it's also one of her best songs, so I'm not surprised haha.
  15. 1. Like A Prayer 2. Material Girl 3. La Isla Bonita 4. Like A Virgin 5. Borderline Like A Prayer was just so well made and provocative. It has an interesting story and a lot of depth to it.
  16. Lately, I've been imagining a video for Candy Perfume Girl. I don't want to bore anybody with the details, but I think it could have had some really cool visuals and an element of abstraction.
  17. Wow. It's hard to put into words how Madonna has helped me. A lot of it is mainly just having someone to relate to. There's a lot of aspects of her life that I really connect with. She's done so many different things throughout her career and she's had so many interests. She's shown me that I don't have to be only one thing and that it's okay to have phases and then move on completely. I like that about her. Madonna's just made me more free to feel happy being myself. She's shown me how to be unapologetic and brave. The same thing goes for sexuality as well. Sex has always been a taboo and I never knew what to think about it, and Madonna helped me see a different perspective. She's also opened me up to this wonderful community and this forum where I feel welcome and happy! There's so much more, but I don't want to make this post too long. I just think she's great and I have a lot of respect for her and everything she's done for me.
  18. My theory was that it was from a perspective of a young woman from a conservative family. She talks about her mother and her father "molding her" in the song and I always thought that meant they had given her a very conservative view of sex and sexuality. When she says, "Someone said that romance was dead/ And I believed it instead of remembering/ What my mama told me", I thought that she was talking about how sex is reserved for marriage and long term relationships, but then she heard that romance wasn't popular and that young people didn't really care about not having sex before marriage and it allowed her to feel free enough to do it herself. And the whole "Never gonna hide it again" was about sexual liberation and not having to hide your desires. And, when she talks about "falling in love", she can't help it because sex was always something she associated with love and she can't get rid of that association just yet. The music video is very 60's and that was when people started feeling more sexually liberated and all about "free love". The balloons she loses in the end of the video could represent her innocence, her upbringing. But, it fits both ways because it could easily be about a man coming out as well. I've heard a lot of different theories about the song and I think that's what makes it so great. I personally connect to the young woman interpretation and that's probably why I did interpret it that way.
  19. I saw these as well on Instagram! The artist is very talented. I love looking for all the song references. My fave is the Music one.
  20. I don't hate any of her songs, but I don't really like to listen to The Power of Good-Bye and I know that there are fans who really love it. I like the message and the lyrics. I'm just not too into the production/delivery. Some (not all) of her 80's singles are overrated, in my opinion.
  21. I think it's that he gave her a message to carry with her, a lesson she learned. In the lyrics, she says, "No other man said love yourself" and "I still hear you say love yourself". He told her and also showed her the power of loving yourself and accepting who you truly are. Maybe he couldn't love her fully, but he loved himself enough to do what he wanted and to live for himself. There's underlying themes of self-love and the strength and happiness that comes with it in some of Madonna's songs (Secret, Express Yourself). It's something that many people struggle with and I think it's an important message: love yourself first.
  22. Oh, I thought the opposite. I always see people put it at the bottom of their lists when it comes to Ray of Light/know there are some fans who dislike it. I love it, too! It pulls me in every time I listen.
  23. Candy Perfume Girl, Living for Love, Love Spent, Nobody's Perfect I also like B-Day Song. I think it's enjoyable if you don't take it seriously.
  24. Oh my gosh! This is difficult! Both songs always take me on a journey every time I listen to them and they're so unique. But, I'd say that Paradise is the one I listen to the most and it's definitely in my Madonna top 10.
