  1. It used to shock me when i started hanging on the Madonna forums to see fans of, say, Kelly Clarkson and singers like that on them. I guess thats what the (stupid) queen of pop title means, she mixes the bourgeoisie and the rebel But this video is nothing groundbreaking, like you said All Is Full Of Love says hello and even G. Michael did it a few years later with Freeek (right title ?) and my memory is blurred but i remember a dance music video using the same tricks in the early 00s (Benassi ?). It reminds me of the work of Cindy Sherman (Sex book inspiration as M said in her itw with Ross in 92 and she sponsored her first retrospective exhib at the Met in 98) whom latelyhas been working using AI. Maybe it is bothering to some because it is very muscular female bodies which brings us back to the Blond Ambition tour and Madonna being criticied for being too muscular and not stereotypically female like. (yeah, people tend to forget these ludicrous little controversies even existed after years because she was part of pushing that envelope). I dont like the track though. I dont like Grimes either. But its just Madonna following up on work she did 30 years ago because that envelope, and we have proof of it here, needs to be pushed again.
  2. That is not for Celine Dion's fans and those who don't know who Cindy Sherman is.
  3. What was he promoting then ? I stopped being interested after Older. I know some fans were upset she did that with Britney and Xtina, i'm not fond of both them but his comment is too harsh on them, he comes from Wham which was as bad as music from the Disney Club. Wake Me Up is a stupid song. So i don't understand why someone with his cheap background could look down on younger artists trying, at that time, to break the teenage mold they were trapped into, just like he did. I really saw this as Madonna not being stuck up like her fans are, including me. To me it's really like when Miley was being vilified after the MTV awards and she guetted with her a few weeks later to support her when she was being trashed all over the media. The only collab i regret her doing is with Justin because he's a fake and dull as milk. I wish she did 4 Minutes with Michael Jackson and Dance 2nite with George Michael.
  4. It's funny i was reminded of this thread today because someone liked one of my entries in it, since 2022 i met an old acquaintance of Pettibone (at a dance music conference i went to for a dj mag) whom told me he absolutely blames Madonna for retiring from music. He thought Erotica was gonna be his Thriller and sell billions of copies and since it did not happen he wanted to redeem himself with her follow up album but she changed direction and dropped him which infuriated him to this day. And i was told by this person that all his friends and peers (like Kervorkian) don't understand this at all. So now we know why he's borderline dismissive of her in interviews.
  5. I'm not sure it's him but he sure does a lot like him (above is Keshishian in 2022)
  6. is that Alek Keshishian behind her on her right in the pic with the dancers ? The nipples and teddy bear pics remind me of La Cicciolina.
  7. Michael Jackson never sang a live note again after the Bad tour. I've never seen his fans complain. In his late years he even incorporated janet's vocals in his routines as his own (you know you want this)....Britney did not even bother to move her lips. Never seen her fans complain. Beyoncé and Gaga have super loud backtracks and the only time i saw the latter it was so loud that it even covered the music. Beyoncé both times i saw her she mostly sang a lot of added ad libs over the backing track to cover it. I've watch clips of Taylor Swift live and not only she moves like a cripled person being tazed but her voice is terrible live (which i did not expected) also. Never seen the fans complain. I'm a super fan of Depeche Mode and Dave Gahan has a shit voice live and screams a lot (way too much), never seen a fan complain. I'd rather eat shit than see Celine Dion live, i absolutely loathe what she does, i don't even think she sings good, screaming in tune does not equal singing, it's like showing off how big one's dick is. I absolutely and definitely think that tv shows about singing with judges have ZERO artistic qualities and even less creativity and "artists" who have emerged from this shit shows are lame AF. Yep, loacal star Kelly Clarckson is a nice girl but she has the charisma of a pastries seller in New Jersey and she's basically a karaoke singer. i've seen Madonna live many times and she was vocally very good some nights and very shit other nights, on the same tours. Re-Invention is where she sang the best imo, at lest both times i saw it but NKM and DAD were 100% lipped and it pissed me off. Confessions was very good also but Sorry was lipped and since she sang it 2 meters away from me and even looked at me (us) while on the left platform i could totally see and hear it. But most of the time, even with a back track she's singing liveeven when we think she's not like Vogue on RIT, it was not the same voice both nights but she nailed it and if lipping can pass on record, in the venue it sounds completly different, you can tell when it's live and when she's singing, the echo is not the same. And sometimes a very good singer can be shit even when she sings good, i adore PJ Harvey, saw her many times live but the last time she made my ears bleed because she decided to sing only in her upper register and after a few tracks i had enough, it was grating.
  8. I usually go twice (or more) when she's on tour because i need a night to witness and absorb everything that is going on stage then another night just to loose and party. There's so much going on stage and i don't want to miss it so i kind of don't move the first night. It's the same for all these kind of pop shows with choreo and staging. Well that's my excuse for not moving on some nights. I don't if it's the reason why here.
  9. Yep he remixed them but most of the work was already there, just like Hooper did on the Austin tracks on BS. I remember reading an interview Orbit did at the time where he was really honest about it and how Leonard's work really was already there. You're right, what Orbit brought (and madonna) elevated them. At the time Leonard had his ow big success with "Hands" by Jewel (which was massive in the US, i was living in NY then and it's like we went from being harrassed by "hands" to being harrassed by Cher's "Believe")
  10. She probably got back to Warner for that reason. I can totally see her signong a deal with Warner under the lie that she would re-release deluxe versions of her albums with the sole purpose to block them from being released hahahah. Joke aside, i have a real question for people in the know, when an album is re-released in a remastered version (with extra content or not) is the re-release considered a new release separated from the original album ( meaning the contract for its original release is also valid for its re-release) or is it the same contract hence same owner and same divides between producers ? (for the first album, Stein made sure Kamins had a really good share even though he only produced one track on it. If there's a new contract could this share be renegociated ?)
  11. And Nellee Hooper (who was first choice for Ray Of Life along Trent Reznor) on Bedtime Stories and Stuart on Confessions. They only wrote Sorry together but he brought a track like Get Together to another level, i like the Blooshy & Avant demo a lot, it sounds very melancholic whereas the album version is totally euphoric. Even on MDNA the Orbit tracks were not written by Orbit but by collaborators of his. Ray Of Light chords pre-existed since the 70's and the tracks they actually co-wrote sound quite identical : Beautiful Stranger & Amazing. Gone was written by Damain Le Gassick. I'm not trying to diminish his work and input but it was way overmarketed and overhyped by Madonna and her team as "Madonna's new music genius". He kept saying she produced him, and it's true, she used himas a tool for specific soundbites but DeVries brought the house and ravey mood on Skin & NRM (the latter being very reminiscent of his early work with Bjork like Violently Happy) Frozen and To Have and Not to hold he barely touched them. I think their work together is done and even overdone. I'm more curious to see her exploring further what they can create with Stuart since she only gave him a chance once on an album (not counting X-Static Process), he can take the tracks she wrote with others in the past year and rework them, that's what he did on Confessions already (except the Mirwais tracks). I believe that was her plan too for Rebel Heart, Avicii was never going to produce the final tracks, just co-writing them with his team.
  12. Fran Drescher was Madonna's next door neighbour at Harperly's Hall (M's CPW apt.) in the 90"s. I wish Jose Xtravagana (with or without Luis) will be the judge at some point and Michelle Visage would be a hoot (even though i believe she would faint as she's a stan) Ru Paul, Lady Bunny...people who have actually something to do with ballroom a drag history. In Paris i already know we'll probably get Gaultier, Redcar (Christine & the Queens, if he's feeling better since he had to cancel the remaining of his dates), JR and Mirwais.
  13. This should not be a thread; don't give it the attention it craves.
  14. It supposedly comes from the Fortins since this is how they called her mother who had the same name. Madonna is a strange name, very connoted and also a reminder of her mother for the family, her brothers and sisters call her Louise actually and that's how Mirwais calls her too (and how she was called while in Paris in 1979 though she had also chosen an artist nickname in case her career took off then : mademoiselle Bijou).
  15. Well, if she wrote it for Sean at the end of their super toxic relationship, i understand why she hates performing it. Sometimes we forget some songs have personal meaning to her and she does not want to be reminded of certain painful parts of her life like we all do except hers she has turned them into songs.
  16. I don't understand why she did not make the audio version herself....
  17. On the other hand i don't understand why Orbit got a credit on Frozen when he brought nothing to the demo she did with Leonard so it must be an agreement between them about ther songs on the album but i understand how Leonard could be pissed off about it. Listen to the demo and even the strings are already there. This is why further collabs with Orbit were unfruitful, he did not write the best material on Ray Of Light and NRM is mostly Marius de Vries (same with Skin)
  18. That said ALL tracks on the Marvin Gaye tribute album had a video made and released at the same time (U2, Nona Gaye, Neneh Cherry...) plus there was a vhs that was scrapped (Madonna's video was not on it) and the whole promo was scrapped too. There was a TV special on the line (the reason why the videos got made) but that was scrapped as well. The album was panned by critics though it's quite good, Nona Gaye (Marvin"s daughter) cover of Inner City Blues is brilliantly produced by Me'shell N'degeOcello and Wendy&Lisa play on it, the Bono track is produced by Nellee Hooper and the Neneh Cherry cover (which also appeared on her album MAN) is very good. I don't remember the other tracks. So i don't know if I Want You really was planned as a single as there were videos made for the whole album.
  19. Only people with a sexual deviance, seeing sex everywhere and thinking about sex all the time would see something sexual in this since they are obsessed with sex. I look at who's joining the moral majority here and bingo ! I rest my case.
  20. So you needed to check Madonna's daughter name...that's interesting for a supposed fan....
  21. First you should start by writing her name right, it's Estere, before clutching your pearls and pretending to act in her interests because the mere fact you did not even check how her name is spelled before writing about her shows how much you don't give two fucks about her and you just want to go after Madonna like the no life rural little troll you are.
  22. Argentina & Latino America legend Paz Martinez wrote the spanish lyrics and guided her. I think her spanish was quite good on the Don't Cry For Argentina remix too.
