I must be the only one who is happy with the digital maxi-singles, getting some "only available on vinyl" tracks from digital sources.

Til Death Do Us Part is my closet favorite Madonna track that I can't tell people is my favorite song because no one knows it. Such a powerful song and in my opinion quintessential 80s production.

Yes, another Express Yourself Edit. It's almost identical to the original Remix Edit, with little changes here and there.

    UPDATE:
Another Edit a little longer more similar to the Blond Ambition Tour (more similar, not equal).  I hope you think is good enough.

Never trust in the running times made in the analog times. Examples: Express Yourself (Remix / Edit) labeled as 4:50. The real running time is 5:00. Express Yourself (Non-Stop Express Mix) labeled as 7:54. The real running time is 7:58. Express Yourself (Stop & Go Dubs) labeled as 10:40. The real running time is 10:52...
The UK Edit is the regular 7'' Edit available worldwide.

I think this is the final consensus:
    TIC VHS/LD = Original 7'' Edit
    Celebration Version = GoldDisc Edit

As someone whom has been abused by an adult when i was underage, i will never doubt anyone coming out and say they were too because i know how difficult it is and how people go over themself to shut you up or say you are a liar. I know this too well just like i know i ve never asked that doctor to give me head while he was checking why i was coughing like i did at 17. The shame i carried for years before being able to speak about it, how i had to leave the city i grew up in, how i avoided going to the doctor for 10 years even when i got pneumonia in London and was rushed to the er because i passed out and couldn t protest, how i don t like receiving head, how it built a wall between my family and me because i wzs scared of their reactions, the reaction of people i actually told it to, how it was hard for me the first time i had sex, and the second time....i know this too well so i will never doubt it coming from someone else.

I think we should take record companies' naming conventions with a grain of salt. They don't really seem to have any rhyme or reason for how they use the words "mix", "remix" and "version". They'll even use different terms to describe the same EXACT track on different releases.

Yeah. Or like the LAP 7” version. It more or less sounds similar altogether, but if you listen closely the guitar, bass, drums and other little embellishments are all different

These are the official versions released:

    1. Album Version, produced by Reggie Lucas.
    2. 7" Remix (from the 7" single), remixed by Jellybean (without cowbells) used in the video.
    3. New Remix/Jellybean Remix, remixed by Jellybean (with cowbells)
    4. Edit of New Remix/Jellybean Remix Edit, remixed by Jellybean (with cowbells)
    5. Dub Version, remixed by Jellybean (with cowbells)
    6. 1990 Q-Sound Mix, remixed by Shep Pettibone (with cowbells)
    7. 2009 Mix

The 7" remix does not sound like the Album Version. Just listen to the synth line when she sings "Just, try to understand...". That was reworked by Jellybean for his remixes. Also on the Album Version there is an extra hi-hat (or something else) on the left channel, that is totally annoying me.

Jellybean is even credited as a producer next to Reggie Lucas on the 7", notice it's not an additional production credit.

true, that's why there are Tagging like
    Edit - album edited down
Remix - with additional or changes here and there
Remix Edit - the edited down or structural changes of Remix ( cause it would be weird if it's tag Re-Remix, I don't think M has tagging like Re-Remix on her singles)

Okay, I have a different idea.
Import both into Audacity, synch them up and invert one of them. If the result is silence, it means both are identical.
That said, the album version also has the muted hi-hat that is present in the background of the beat (the entire time). It was taken out for the 7" Edit.
It's therefore not an edit made from the album version. It’s an entirely new mix done exclusively for the video and the single. It’s also not an edit of the New Mix. If you cannot hear the very audible differences, then you seriously need to get your ears cleaned out, professionally.

No. Holiday is just an edit of the album version. The same for Lucky Star, Burning Up, Papa Don't Preach, Fever, Hung Up, True Blue, Oh Father, Jump, etc, etc, etc. Borderline, Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Deeper And Deeper for example are remixes because they add or delete elements, even though they sound practically the same as the album versions.

    First contact :
Into The Groove is my first memory ever of partying to a specific "grown-up" song and feeling it, must have been in 1986.
I loved before becoming a fan (in chronological order)  :
Who's That Girl Tour massively reported on French TV and the urban legend of her throwing her panties to Jacques Chirac. the Like A Prayer marketing campaign, and again it's my first memory ever of an album release and all the excitement around. Vogue at my first nights out in the club and I'm Breathless on repeat in my walkman.
The song/video that made me a fan forever :

Drying her armpits in the Into The Groove video was the clincher. I thought "who is this dirty bitch" and it was love at first sight.
My older cousin used to tape her singles for me on a cassette which I wore into the ground. Holiday was probably the song that radio played a lot here in the beginning and the playground was awash with people calling each other a Virgin but not really knowing what it meant. The UK in 85 was unreal because of the First Album re-release and the Susan / Vision Quest soundtrack. We did much better than the states because Warner UK slammed us with every single possible.
Like A Virgin single late in 84 brought us into 1985 and the it was a single pretty much every four to six weeks until 1987.
NOV 84 : LIKE A VIRGIN  MARCH 85 : MATERIAL GIRL  JUNE 85 : CRAZY FOR YOU  JULY 85 : INTO THE GROOVE  AUG 85 : HOLIDAY SEPT 85 : ANGEL  OCT 85 : GAMBLER  DEC 85 : DRESS YOU UP  JAN 86: BORDERLINE  APRIL 86 : LIVE TO TELL JUNE 86: PAPA DON'T PREACH OCT 86: TRUE BLUE DEC 86 : OPEN YOUR HEART APR 1987 : LA ISLA BONITA JUL 87 : WHO'S THAT GIRL SEP 87 : CAUSING A COMMOTION DEC 1987 : THE LOOK OF LOVE Lucky Star was also getting pushed in June 86 on radios too but it charted low as it wasn't really pushed by the label cause True Blue album was underway with her new clean image.
I don't know if the rest of the world knows just quite how great we had it. It was like being hit over the head month after month. I mean it was relentless. I don't think any artist has ever had such a successive run of smash singles in such close succession. Show me a better singles run that reads like a greatest hits than the list above plus Lucky Star.
The withdrawal of 88 was fucking real man.

no really, she has 2 managers and some assistants, and those managers have assistants too. people need to stop thinking that her kids are taking care of this stuff.

I can't begin to explain how much I love this song. It's very rough...the version we got at least but William Orbit threw his whole bussy into the production of this song and that humming...lord. I just wish we had a more advanced/final mix of this song. The second version that came with the Music Unreleased DVD is much better than the ones with vocals. Thanks to AI, I was able to get a pretty clean A Cappella of the song and with a bit editing here and there I was able to create what sounds like the most complete version of this beautiful song (at least I think it does lol).
In my opinion, this along with Liquid Love and Run would have been cool additions to GHV2.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

No. Like A Virgin is credited as her first digital recording. This CD is from 1984:

But while all the CDs of ‘Like A Prayer’ have the phrase ‘digital recording’ on the cover, in ‘Like A Virgin’ it only appears on the first CD released in the USA. Why? I don’t know. To have an original CD of ‘Like A Virgin’ is like having a direct copy of the master tape because it was recorded at 44100Hz.
