First of all I think that most of the critics come from people that didn't hear her sing live. I remember even in "The virgin era" people saying "She's cool, but she can't sing". For me the problem was that people didn't like Madonna for the things she represented and the only way to say something bad about hear was to talk about her weakest part. They couldn't say she could not dance, they couldn't say she didn't have an incredible stage presence, she even had good critics as an actress for "Desperately seeking Susan" so... how could they disparage her??? Talking about her voice. They repeated over and over again the "She can't sing" and after hearing it so many times lots of people thought it was the truth. (I feel something similar happened with "Shanghai surprise". The movie had so terrible critics that after that everybody was saying "She can't act", "She can't act" and even before her movies were premiered people was talking about how bad they were).
On the other hand, as you say, we all know Madonna is not a Withney Houston but she do nice things with her voice. I know people who sing and hearing her songs I've heard a lot of times "Wow, look at that change... it's not easy to do that" and I'm like "What??? She's just singing something "easy". As a person who doesn't know much about how to sing, there are lots of things that I don't know that they are so difficult (I don't know if I explain myself). But for a lot of people if you don't a syllabe for more than 10 seconds you can't sing.
Finally I think part of the problem is the audio edition on her tours. They sound so pre-recorded that people say "Why does she do that? Becaus she can't sing". I'm not saying she's a perfect singer but I think most of the times she doesn't need so much post production on her performances. And if she doesn't like how it sounds she could make a voice recording during the rehearsals without dancing instead of use her album vocals.
And just to finish... I think Madonna has a very nice voice and I prefer her when you can hear it clearly. For me songs like "Crazy for you" from "The virgin tour" or "The look of love" from "The Who's that girl tour" and lots of her performances on "The blond" and "Girlie Show" are incredible. She didn't have all the knowledges she has now, but she have.... instinct? to sing and was much better and much emotional... But it's just my personal taste. I respect that she uses vocoder and things like that now. It's her vission and I accept it but I've said a lot of times to my friends "The worst thing that Madonna has done on her career was to take singing lessons".

No I'm not worried really. It just tickles me how people obsess over the tiniest details that Madonna wouldn't even have a clue about. 

There's the Madonna albums that I find very enjoyable and the ones that inspire awe in me and Erotica is one of latter. I think it's a great record but not the one I could listen to entirely for many times from start to finish, mostly due to the genre(s).
Her lyrics make me blush, the music to touch myself but essentially it is an album about trying to find love. She started this with Like A Prayer, trying to find it in God and family, now she's looking for it in other people, lovers and society.
My favorite songs have got to be Erotica, Deeper and deeper, Rain, Bad Girl for the sound and Why's it so hard, Where life begins and Secret Garden for the lyrics. I adore how almost every title is a blatant sexual reference or an innuendo.

First post here. Frozen is one of my all-time favourites, the Sickick version is obviously not exactly as marvellous but I like it a lot. She also seems to have a good chemistry with Swae Lee, so I hope this turns out great. Just no autotune please or at least not all over any new vocals, I love her voice the way it is.

I'M SO EXCITED
New music is exacly what I was expecting from her. Maybe it's just something for the New Years Eve, but I hope she gets excited for a new album. I miss the days when she worked on an album for six months and then release it already. Like Music being out only 2 years after ROL, and AL 2 years after DWT. Things don't need always to take ages. She don't need to make a tour for every album.
I think an album BEFORE the biopic would be perfect. I suspect when an artist release a movie and album at the same time, that usually means bad promo. That reminds me of Bionic/Burlesque by Christina Aguilera, released together so quickly and forgotten fast. I hope whatever is in store for us, turns out to be great. We deserve a nice 40th career anniversary.

I feel more comfortable putting her among artists rather than mere pop stars when I see her as a whole. She has made people think and doubt whilst pop stars only make people dance or be horny.

Ahhh those were the days. I was so fucking excited when she was working with her and Mirwais!!! I pray for everything that I wanted for new music and I literally got it. New sound, mirwais productions, political songs, imagery, persona change, story telling. THE MADAME X ERA WAS THAT FUCKING BITCH 
 
Also do we know if there was a song called Magic written for the album? Most of her albums have a title track, and that seemed to be the working title for awhile.

Yeah, if there were never an original frozen I would have liked it too. When it comes to new songs I'm all in. But this project somehow diminished the magic of the original for me. Anyway, I'll choose to like it too if it blows up somehow. She should work with him for new original releases though, he seems promising. And I think she will respect her own vocals and verses a bit more for the frozen duet she is planning cause Sickick didn't.

the way I KNOW that this studio sessions are only for a Frozen remix but my poor soul has faith that she will get into and we will get mooooore things ???

One thing I love about her is that she is one of the few artists to actually bring most of her features into the same studio. The energy hits different.
Then you see Megan Thee Stallion for example at the Grammys getting an award with Beyonce and it's obvious that they meet there for the first time despite scoring a no.1 remix together.
