I wish I could go to one of the concerts in Miami.

Actually, I requested 2 tickets during that lottery thing, but I was told my request had been declined due to " an overwhelming demand".

Now that I got tickets and planned everything to see her in Lisbon, I learned that there are hundreds of tickets available on ticketmaster. Go Figure!

Well, at least I've never been to Portugal before and Madame X Tour was a great excuse to travel somewhere new.

That is really shitty but I’m sure the Lisbon shows will be so much better than Miami. For starters, they are sold out!

I don't believe it(!) They tried Ray of Light!...shock horror. I bet they tried Candy Shop and Music as well. If I had the cash to do this backstage tour I'd give Kevin a list of never performed Madonna songs that they could perhaps try for the next tour.

At least Stuart Price used to try (and usually successfully) get her to pick at least one song from each album. Which is why in my opinion there is a greater variety between DWT-Confessions. Ok some of the same songs she wouldn't let go of but at least he would try to reinvent them as much as possible.

He only did that for Reinvention. DWT and Confessions did not have that many old songs.

  3. I expect the filming and editing will be much like the Rebel Heart Tour.

I haven’t seen the show but I do wonder if it would make more sense to have more behind the scenes stuff in this one. The speeches would probably be edited down or she could make a compilation of highlights using various bits from all over the world. I also think, as much as Lisbon makes sense the venue itself is not a typical theatre and I think she’d probably want to record the show in a nice looking theatre. So I can see her filming London or Paris instead. Unless the rumours of extra European dates are true she could do one of those cities.

    100%

They've all been "recorded" since the 1st WTG show - except if there was a technical issue we would not know have heard about or a show where the pro-shot cameras were not used (no screens) (RHT Macau for example had no screens and no cameras filming the show professionally - so no official video recording of those shows exists).

Whether or not anyone has kept all the recordings properly is another matter!

I suspect most if not all of them have actually been archived by Madonna.

Check out this statement from Michael Jackson's Estate a few years ago regarding how the pro-shot concert footage for every show on his 1988 Bad Tour was handled. The same company mentioned in the statement who filmed all his shows (Nocturne) filmed every Madonna concert from 1987 right through to I think Sticky & Sweet. It's fair to assume the same process was always in place (recordings of the screen footage for each show handed over to Madonna by Nocturne).

MDNA and RHT pro-shot footage for all shows was HD Video - so I assume all those were immediately stored to Hard Disk. We know from the MDNA DVD production process, that they accessed a ton of the screen footage from all the shows during editing and used lots of it (along with the specially filmed stuff from Miami and Paris).

Plus there will always be the possibility of Nocturne staff, Madonna's staff or whoever else making copies for their own personal use which is probably how this stuff ends up with collectors or leaking.

The last decade was so poor in terms of charts/radio/commercial success, a new GH doesn't make sense at all. Unfortunately I don't see her re-recording old tracks either.

A new "You can dance" would probably fit better, as she topped the Billboard dance chart even with the new songs. Also STR volume 2 would work fine.

While I do agree I’ve noticed there are loads of old artists that release new Greatest Hits when there’s no necessity for them. I think putting something new on the shelves with new packaging and marketing probably reinvigorates interest even if the actual track list is not that different to the last Greatest Hits the artist/band did. So for that reason they may do one as 10 years is a long time ago really. Kylie’s previous one was in 2010 I think and the new one still went to #1 in the UK. These kinds of artists have a lot of collectors that buy multiple formats.

If they do do it I just hope it’s done properly with some nice surprises for fans. I wouldn’t expect any new songs from her but you never know. She surprised us with Celebration.

yeah, I think they will upgrade people and I notice price reductions have already started happening

This stuff is often guarded from performers for that reason. Now for sure it's Madonna so she probably insists on knowing everything about everything. But I doubt they will be informing the whole cast.

This "music from and inspired by" stuff was pioneered by Prince with his Batman soundtrack album in 1989. M, as usual, got the trend. Dick tracy has THREE soundtrack albums, don't forget that, and Madonna's just one of them, and includes only three songs featured in the album. I've always consider it a "concept studio allbum". And don't forget that either a soundtrack album or a studio album, both are recorded in a STUDIO. Period (LOL)

Batman is also considered a studio album as is Purple Rain

  8. I consider it one of her albums but I can see why some may not. Even though it is not the actual soundtrack it is very much connected to the film and part of its merchandising the same way Beyoncé’s Lion King inspired album was a part of the Lion King franchise. The songs on a film soundtrack are not always necessarily in the movie eg I believe the Chicago soundtrack had songs not included in the movie. Im Breathless even has the name of the film and a Dick Tracy logo on the cover. So it’s definitely tied to the film. Vogue I feel was only added for the sake of it, I don’t believe for a second Pat Leonard is correct that it was written for the film and we already know for certain it was written to be the bside of Keep it together anyway. I do believe songs like Back in Business, He’s a Man, Now I’m Following You etc she may have submitted for inclusion in the movie. Hanky Panky I’m not so sure. But if you think about it that song is very reflective of the character in the film so it’s possible. There is also the story that it originally had racier lyrics and Disney made her tone it down but I don’t know if that story is actually true.

As for Madonna’s own opinion she definitely considers it to be one of her albums however it would not surprise me if she also considered the Evita soundtrack to be one of her albums.

For those who attended how does the papa dont preech speech go down with the audience? l heard the Oct 12 show where she asks what the audience thinks of her not keeping her baby and it seems like the wrong way to ask that question, applauding for abortion seems odd. Does she always say it that way and is it weird?

Do you live in America? This has been a hotly debated topic there recently so I don't think anyone in the audience in NYC would misunderstand it.

what does she need to do with a theater that makes her take so much time? do they have to rehearse before the show even if they just did the exact same show last night? Also what is the thing that they're doing every single night that makes them appear no earlier than 11:00 PM?

She doesn’t need to do anything. There’s no reason for it, she just chooses to come on late. If there was an actual excuse they’d give one.

I only wish her the best and hope her knee heals quickly.   My fear is that this may have been an issue since rehearsals as we all have seen pics of her bandaged up back then. I'm not sure three days is enough time to heal.  If she's planning to cancel the remaining NY dates, and then start back up with Chicago, that still might not be enough time.  We'll see!  She's strong and resilient.  Let's hope for the best.

Now that you mention it it could even be the real reason why the first 3 shows were postponed/cancelled.

  12. 5 hours ago, BeepBeepBitchMove said:

Knee injuries take months to heal. Three days ain't gonna cut it. Expecting more dates to be cancelled/postponed. She really shouldn't have booked all those back to back theatre dates. Three or maximum four shows a week would have been much more realistic and easier on the body.

We don’t know the full details but based on the bandages during rehearsals we can speculate it’s probably a longer term injury which would mean 2-3 weeks rest would be beneficial.

If she needs 2-3 weeks off she could postpone Chicago entirely. It would be much safer for the overall tour, they can come back after Paris and add more NYC shows while they are there. If she pushes herself too hard now there’s a risk she will have to cancel more dates later on.

Actually, I heard it from somebody that’s generally a pretty reliable source.

I was told it was either a new album with world music influence, or a reworked greatest hits in the same vain. Obviously she chose the former.

Id have quite liked the reworked hits.

The rumour doesn't really make sense as she'd already announced she was working on a new album of new material well before 18 months ago. And she even did Dark Ballet at Met Gala which was 17 months ago.

I know it's sort of off topic and that I'm in the minority on this (surprise, surprise) but I would kill for a rock tour from her. Play the guitar or don't. Just stand there and sing.

It would solve this problem. I'd be there every night.

If she’s going to just stand/sit I think I’d prefer an acoustic tour over a rock tour. Would be cool to see her change the setlist up lots and do lots of surprises.

The thing that amazes me that she's been touring for so long now, that I'm surprised she hasn't had more injuries that kept her from performing.  Most people her age (and younger) cannot be as physical as she still is.  So we've been extremely lucky fans up to this point.

I guess it’s her dance training background, she’s taken good care of herself. You would think all that jogging etc would have worn her body out by now but I suppose that’s why she stopped it at some point.
