  1. I personally prefer the "live" feel, the seamless edits etc that she doesn't seem to do any more.  I love seeing the B-roll footage/news report footage from her shows because it shows how well she actually does perform, the editing style can have the reverse of the intended effect, I feel.  The part in Iconic on Rebel heart tour springs to mind, when she rushes forward suddenly, it was rendered less dramatic.  There are many examples.  From the preview video she posted, I'm expecting graphical overlays and reverse footage, slow mo, fast mo.

I expect to get what I paid for or a partial refund. Just me I guess, don't get me wrong there were moments of excellence but it was not the best feeling to feel short changed... I just think this whole situation has been handed badly....

Agreed. Still feeling shit about last Sunday's shortened show

Yes she sang the sound of silence you could tell she was still pissed about last night mentioning a few times that she was against the clock, American life she didn’t do the full rap she screamed I’m assuming this is her way of getting out her frustrations. She said she was not only a performer or a pop star but a story teller and it’s hard to tell a story when you’ve got a stop watch against you. She said people need to stop complaining about the change of show on the 2nd night it’s either no show or altered show we all know she has an injury so people need to shut the fuck up.

I feel that she is gaslighting her fanbase, those who are upset at least, into thinking they have the problem. It makes me feel extremely depressed to read about her rudeness. My Madonna fandom really makes me feel bad about myself at the moment, and that's a first. Not to mention the whopping defect in my bank account.

This is exactly what I am worried about for this Saturday. Sorry that you had this happen ? It would affect the whole experience and cherished memories. Irrespective of what anyone says or complains about regarding posts that relate to disappointment, and no matter how fantastic the rest of the show is - your experience is genuine and honest. Thank you for sharing.

Ill keep my fingers crossed for, I hope you have a great time.

Was really hoping the beginning wouldn’t get cut last night, but alas it did. However I still really enjoyed it, my first Madame X show. I’ve got tickets to one more show, which is the first of a two consecutive show run this time (rather than the second) so if she is alternating hopefully I’ll get the full show next time.

Saying that, I still absolutely loved the show. She was genuinely funny and seemed in good spirits and didn’t seem too badly affected by the injuries (apart from having dancers in hand to assist her up and down stairs - why such a large percentage of the songs still have stairs built into the choreography is beyond me!! They’re really not needed for the most part).

As many people have said, Frozen is spectacular. Her vocals really shine though, as they did in the Fado song and Like A Prayer also. Hopefully I’ll get to see God Control and Dark Ballet next time. Towards the end of the show in one of her chats about James Baldwin she actually said along the lines of “as I quote... well, sometimes quote... at the beginning of my show” and looked kind of awkward/embarrassed in a funny way. She’s definitely aware of the situation, it must be for a reason that it’s getting cut for some shows.

Her reference to the cut start actually increased my annoyance! I think if if id been surrounded by like minded fans itd have been a better experience. The married couples around me I dont think realised what had happened. I always get too affected by what other people are doing at concerts. My madonna love is a private thing! ?

I hope that the cancellation of the first part is the consequence of the curfew and that in Paris she will not zap God Control - Dark Ballet and Hunan nature / if it’s to lighten the show in choreography on the second evening of the consecutive dates here feared for the public ... or else she should do at least two more songs after Future on the piano or on the piano ? to compensate ...

Yes, when i heard about the shortened show i became very stressed, thinking please god, not my show, not after i paid all that money etc etc. Sadly, it did happen. Not helped by the slightly annoying family in front of me who from what i gleaned from their chatting, got free tickets. Glugging beer and asking if she was doing the old songs yet!

Again, my comments are aimed at those who are complaining constantly and feed off this disappointment you are sharing.  I didn't go back far enough to see until now to see that you actually went to the show.  But I didn't quote you originally when I said what I said.  So yes, I understand your disappointment, especially if you were expecting to see that first section. It's unfortunate, however like I mentioned above, she stated she would have to make adjustments due to her injuries in her apology when cancelling the two dates in advance.  At this point, we have to accept what she chooses to do night by night when performing for the rest of the tour.

Yeah fair enough. Its just, as i say the disappointment is still raw. As i previously posted, i couldnt afford to see the show but if id seen the full thing as madonna originally intended id have felt better about it. (As in, I got myself into more debt for my queen)

I'm not stopping anyone to share their disappointment. However, the only people sharing their disappointment who hasn't even attended one of those shows or haven't even seen the show.

It's weird how all these very low posts people (or the same Debbie Downer posters) suddenly pop out of nowhere to voice their disappointment, but you never see them participate in any other threads usually, sharing what they enjoy about her. The person I quoted posted only has two posts under his name when joining in this conversation, yet he sure has a lot to be disappointed about. Odd don't you think??

Yeah maybe, i was just thinking of myself. Seeing as still on the coach on the way home from the show. Its still raw and im tired!

There's no "theory"! She even mentioned in her apology letter when cancelling the two Feb dates in advance, she will have to make adjustments to her show. Obviously, it's a night by night adjustment based on how bad her pain is that day.

It's weird how some fans go out of their way make it like she's just making up this injury and going on late instead. Yes, I know she's had a history of being late on past tours, but what is it going to take for some to see that she's in pain and she's just trying to get through as many shows as possible? She never promised anyone a "set" set list.  Most people who bought tickets months before any of us knew the set list.  Still, that shouldn't matter. She never promised anything in stone there.  Many artists change their set lists throughout their tours based on circumstances on the road or because of their health, if they don't just cancel the rest of the tour.

It's unfortunate that she's cut some of the numbers, but obviously it's due to her injuries.  But I guess some won't be happy unless she performs the whole show and harms herself first.  Then what?  She'll land herself in the hospital or worse, permanently cripple herself.  Is that what some of you want?

I'm a strong proponent of her just cancelling the rest of the tour, if she truly feels that bad, but she outlined it in her last apology. She's seeing the tour out til it's end or as long as she can hold out.  We should be grateful she's putting on any show at this point.  Again, that ticket you hold does not guarantee any sort of set list or how long she stays on stage.  And I'm very certain, even most everyone who went to those shows where she cut numbers, still left happy and enjoyed the show very much.

You make valid points but allow those who attended a chopped up show to share their disappointment.

Yup. The show in itself is a good show, but I don’t think the tracks sit very well with each other and the pacing is bad. It’s like only the Fado section is designed as an actual “section” even though I dislike most of the tracks and the aesthetics in it, but 3/4 of the first segment was gone, American Life felt really cheap and low budget, Vogue was a terrible way to start a show about Madame X not to mention the mediocre choreography. I Don’t Search is good, though the excessive use of typewriters is off-putting, then the interlude of the coffin after American Life was too simplistic compared to the greatness of all her last interludes.

After the Fado section, it feels like cut bits and pieces. Rescue Me interlude is uninspired and too simplistic as well. Frozen is outstanding, and it could’ve had a follow up performance with that same gorgeous outfit, but no, cut into Come Alive then cut into Like A Prayer which is among her least inspiring performances and then I Rise is like alright, though I don’t get the choice of outfit. It’s alright. But not her most memorable closing track.

So many songs could’ve fit the Madame X persona and theme and fleshed her out as an actual secret agent traveling around the world and experiencing cultures could’ve made the set list: God Control, Easy Ride, Why’s It So Hard, Bad Girl, Die Another Day. X-Static Process, How High, The Power of Goodbye, Nothing Really Matters..etc.

    *sigh*

Gosh, yes, like a prayer was quite flat and i dont mean the vocals. It had everyone clapping along of course though, cause its like a prayer. Maybe you should help her with her next setlist? The fan show? She'd never do it. Generally speaking, i like that she does what the hell she wants and i enjoy it on its own merits. On the subject of the absent opening, how does she enter the stage in that performance? Imagine Girlie with no Erotica, Blond with no Express Yourself!

  11. 2 minutes ago, RinoTheBouncer said:

It could be that as well, her injury and her inability to perform the full show consecutively, but it doesn’t sound very ethical or fair, as she’s neither releasing people’s money or giving them the same length of the experience, the same content or the same number of tracks on any date and we’re not talking one missing or changed track.

she could’ve at least replaced the physically taxing songs with ballads like Easy Ride. She did so many ballads effortlessly and she could’ve extended the experience by adding few more that she does while she’s lying in that circle thingy or on the piano. And still, cutting off the opening is too much. It’s new material and I’d let go of any other song on the set list over God Control.

Agreed. And speaking as someone who only saw tonights show, the pacing was really not great, so many monolgues it was hard to get lost in the performance.

  12. ...the reason im saying this here is because i went the show on my own.  I have no chum i can vent with or share in this disappointment..nobody i know is crazy enough to spend 475 quid on a concert ticket. I took out a credit card to pay for it, friends said i was silly to do this as already in debt. So the feeling of being short changed by this woman ive idolized for 30 years is acute. Im sure ill get over it. Not to say i wasnt captivated by parts of the show. Frozen was stunning, loved the stairs in extreme occident and the rescue me interlude were all great theatre.

I'm sorry, I get you're upset but she's still doing a 2 hours show. I went to see many artists over the years that did less or different songs than the night before my show. At least you saw it. I was Lucky and I saw the full show in Lisbon (the last time she did Crave), but my next show was cancelled 45 minutes before I was going to enter the venue and my firends that had only the sunday show never saw it (they also had tickets for London..one of the two she cancelled the other day).

I found it hard to enjoy the show because I felt so upset. I shall remember this feeling next time she announces a tour.

  14. 16 minutes ago, cosmic_system said:

It's pretty clear to me that she can't do the first act (the most demanding for her body) two nights in a row. It's not a decision they make 5 minutes befeore going on stage because they need to re-program lights, projections, music cues etc. So it's not cut because she's late. Crave was cut for the same reason, but it was at the end of the show when she's probably very tired and tha's why it's now out for good. Also she doesn't cut the Polaroid and chats parts becasue it's when se can rest a little. WAKE UP, SHE'S INJURED AND IN PAIN.

And can we please stop saying she cut "Papa"? She never did it in Europe, it was a politica perfomance for America.  Same for Sodade, I was sure she was going to do it only in Lisbon after they cut it in America.

I wish id been informed of this prior and been offered a refund or partial refund. Absolutely gutted. The wait for her to come on and realising what was about to happen was so unbearable, a very unpleasant experience. This was my one madame x show and purchased with borrowed cash. What a disaster.

There are differences in every single song. Even God control which is performed with vocoder is live

Ok, thats good to know. Dont want to listen to any more before Sunday's show...he said optimistically.

As for her pre-recorded track, it's very quiet and she sings very loudly on top of it. In my show she fucked up the words to Crazy all the way through and it was clear every time. During Batuka she made a mistake while dancing and she stopped singing and laughed instead. It is live for the vast majority of it.

I was going to say, have avoided listening to most of the bootlegs but I did a little comparison of like a prayer and there are clear differences in phrasing and intonation on the two i heard.

Genuine response: when I read the cancellation post, I read it quickly as ‘Feb 6-11 shows are cancelled’. That would include my 8th Feb show. In that moment I felt sadness... but genuine relief. The fact that it was a relief is very sad. Then I read it again to see it was 6th AND 11th cancelled, so my show is still on... back to genuine worry about:

    A) will my show still get cancelled?

    B) Stress at the show right up until 9pm about whether Vogue is about to start instead of God Control ?

    This isn’t fun anymore...

    I felt the same emotion
