  1. 100%. Plus, if "Music" dropped today it would still sound like nothing else on the radio.
  2. I think this notion is slightly insulting to Madonna who was a co-producer on everything they did together. Also, have you heard Joe Henry's demo? It couldn't be further from the final version, what they did to Don't Tell Me was genius (and was actually a pretty big hit - Top 5 in UK and US). And Mirwais' production on Madame X is very different from his work on Music for example. One trick pony would suggest he keeps doing the same thing/sound over and over which is completely not the case - listen to Impressive Instant, Hollywood, Future Lovers and Medellin - all very different styles and feels. Maybe one "hit" pony is what you had in mind .
  3. Whatever the reasons for Madonna's misguided response, the idea that in 92/93 she was somehow "envious" of the publicity surrounding Sinead's SNL bit is laughable.
  4. It was SPIN magazine I believe, Jan 1996 issue.
  5. I can watch the No Bull: Making of Take A Bow special over and over.
  6. Don't know about it peaking yet: US vinyl sales up 21.7% for first half of 2023 https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/jul/12/vinyl-sales-us-report "Vinyl sales in the US are up 21.7% for the first half of 2023 over the same period last year, according to a new music industry report. The vinyl resurgence is itself not new – 2022 marked the 17th consecutive year that sales of vinyl records rose, according to Luminate’s music midyear report. But the growth rate this year has reassured experts that the vinyl market did not hit a natural plateau after surging during the pandemic, which caused a 108% increase in 2021."
  7. While "Who's That Girl" is cute and deserved a place on the compilation, "Live To Tell" is far superior in every way. And True Blue is her biggest selling album with 5 Top 5 hits, it's only fair it's extensively represented (we're already missing "True Blue" the song here).
  8. I know what you mean, but for me something like LaserDiscs were a trend, MiniDiscs - they popped up and were gone in a flash. Regardless of fluctuation in popularity, if something's been around for a century, like vinyl has, it's difficult to dismiss it as a mere trend in my opinion. I think the steady rise of vinyl sales in the past decade shows that, as convenient and brilliant as streaming is, humans long for something tangible. As our world becomes more digital, we seem to long for analog experience more and more. And not just when it comes to music formats, same is true when you look at the resurgence in analog photography. And just like with music, it's not so much about which medium is "better" - each provides a different experience.
  9. For a "trend" vinyl seems to be doing rather alright, given that's it's been around since 1948 if I'm not mistaken. Each to their own, but I listen to vinyl all the time and will take it over a CD any day.
  10. We all miss the times when she could release a fart and hit top 10 but sadly that's not the reality anymore so features are the way to go, for better or worse.
  11. Probably Ray of Light. Not because it's her best, but because it's the one Madonna album straight white men are allowed to like unashamedly.
  12. You really think so? Have you read her lyrics?
  13. Nothing factual about that. Padam is great but don't get me started on Disco. That album is an insult to disco fans.
  14. I don't like it (love Madame X as a whole though). I think the verses are great and I like the production on it but the choruses are a wasted opportunity and drag on forever.
  15. This isn't an unpopular opinion. It's a non-existent one.
  16. Literally every version of Borderline is better than the album one for me.
  17. People not only want but clearly buy them, how's that pointless? Especially for something like Hard Candy LP which is hard to get these days.
  18. You're right, an opinion of a newbie with 20 posts to their name holds more gravitas than a Billboard article...
