Madonna likes "edgy" stuff over these lovey-dovey songs like Cherish, True Blue, Angel, which are rare in her discography. I don't think there's much more to it. 

It’s a great song, but I think it’s just a fluffy song that might be hard for M to sing these days.

I could see Stuart Price doing an amazing updated remix for the track.

I know he was a heavy smoker when he was younger.  Think it caught up with him.  His voice back in like the 79s and 80s was much sort of softer.

I don’t think Madonna is being monotonous or predictable by wearing black a lot. I think she’s just comfortable wearing that color the most. Personally, I love wearing black the most too!
