InfinityWithin got a reaction from Pretender1978 in What's your fave version of Like a Prayer?
My favourite is the 7" version without fade.
It's almost identical to the album version, but is mixed by Shep Pettibone (Gooood!!!) and has a little bit more power (not only in the midnight hour).

Can not tell you how happy I am to read this. Madonna you are my favorite artist and I am b o r e d.
I am bothered by the MDNA skin adverts. I am not botherd by the way she chooses to dress but like anything else that overpowers other aspects I am bored by it. I feel like I'm seeing something over and over again that has no meaning to it. The constant closeups on instagram, the hair, the clothes...with no real meaning behind any of it is just boring me.
It's cool to defy the critics but her actions seem to be ruled by them now and they should not be the one's in charge.
I became a fan because I felt she was my voice. In many ways she was but there was an uplifting optimism to Madonna that I admired so much that I always struggled having myself. I understand being rebellious, sarcastic, angry, sad, hurt....what I feel is missing is that optimism and strength from her. Even Living For Love sounds more defiant than uplifting.
Her children bring her joy thank goodness but I miss the joy that used to surround her work. She would express sadness, pain, defiance, anger in the past but her strength was those things never overpowered her or her work.
I am going on a rant and trying to explain what I think but it's difficult. I don't know exactly what it is. I love Madonna...it's been since forever but she has been boring the heck out of me.

I loved the tour but can't be bothered with this mess. I hate the editing in the "concert film" and the live album is atrociously mixed. Hopefully True Blue and LVER are at least ok,- given that there won't be any annoying backing tracks. then again I wouldn't be surprised if they fucked up those as well.
I'd personally love an acoustic show, album, story teller, unplugged type of thing.

InfinityWithin reacted to Falling Free in Unpopular Madonna Opinions
-American Life was a solid album from start to finish but the artwork was horrible.
-I absolutely hate the way she is dressing lately and has been doing the gypsy theme to death. I especially loathe the shoes she wore on the rebel heart tour and see's been wearing them for everything lately. They look like orthopedic high-heels.

Its still crazy that Ghosttown wasn't on the main setlist. Like .. its one of the best tracks on the album and it was a single.
I guess she didn't wanna do the obvious but damn sis

The drama died down a while ago tbh.
If we close this thread I'm sure all the details will come out the next day and there won't be any place to discuss things.
So just try to keep it light until we have more details.

InfinityWithin reacted to survivalartist in Madonna Songs that are the Soundtrack of Your Life
I'll Remember was the first single of hers I purchased and after my fathers suicide it took on a special meaning despite his relatively negative influence on my life.
Beautiful Stranger was released the summer that I first felt I was "in love" and always takes me back to that moment in time.
Also Friends & I were blasting Confessions on my first trip to Miami and Isaac came on as we approached Miami Beach, making my way in a foreign land lol
I also really wanted to be the kid in the Open Your Heart video. What a lucky kid.
A lot of the pre Bedtime Stories tracks are special to me as I had a Madonna fan pen pal who would mail me cassettes of bootleg/DMC/rare tracks and remixes on cassette. he would make the coolest printed covers. I have them in a box in storage there are at least twenty of them. I had to pick them up at the post office and it was such a great surprise to find out what was next... Things like the Tiny Little Circles mix and the Razormaid mixes. Great times, I wonder whatever happened to him. If you're on here Chris hit me up lol I used to love the MLVC.org mailing list with people like Bruce Baron and Keith Caulfield fangirling out with all the pre-social media dirt.

You know what, I think I'm over it.
Over a year ago I was dying to see the broadcast version of this tour, hoping it would captivate what was in my opinion one of her most heartfelt and joyous concerts. To me the showtime version does not bring back that feeling at all. So wether they add the LDLHA bit, reinstall Lucky Star where it needs to be, exclude the unfitting cut to Detroit, realise why Edith Head wore shades all of the time (in b/w black on black on black doesn't translate into 50 shades of grey, just black) or see that the gimmick of showing aaaaaaalll unapologetic bitches is just that, a gimmick, and one that already tires you the first time you're watching it, it still isn't going to bring to life the experience that was RHT. I loved this tour, having seen almost every tour since the BA, this is one of my favorites and I'll cherish the memory of it, not so much the broadcast. neXt

I always thought that the all-time-seen picture of M in UB performance was not going to be the cover. It was too predictable (as predictable as the one with M on the elevator with the screen-cross behind in "I Don't Give A" on the MDNA Tour)... The kind of picture of everybody uses on amateur and own designs are those that never are going to be used... But all that Aldo Diaz does is horrible, and in a very, very amateur way...
The only thing I think he is elected is because it's free... but even in this case, there are lots of freelance people who does incredible and better jobs.

InfinityWithin got a reaction from Turuncan in Lucky Star aka the first album
The Lucky Star pics are gorgeous, but I think she looks very soft and romantic... maybe not that fitting for that straight-in-your-face dance album. But with 2 or 3 ballads on the album it could have worked.
The final "Madonna" cover is iconic and sexy. Not sure why they used that certain pic though. She looks a bit stressed and complicated, doesn't she? Well, she needed a HOLIDAY!
The "First album" cover really was a mess. They used the worst pic from that photo session.

InfinityWithin reacted to dylanlioncourt in Opinion: Ghosttown was wasted potential
She totally screwed herself over releasing it along with the remaining singles in the six song bundle back in December 2014. The fact we didn't know of this song's existence (if I recall correctly) and it wasn't leaked, she should have honestly either released it as the first single and then build up to a joint release with Living For Love in time for the Grammy's if possible.
Instead, she allowed that and Bitch I'm Madonna and Living For Love to be available for two months before the album campaign even began. By the time she began doing performances for LFL, everyone that interested had already purchased the song along with Ghosttown and Bitch, I'm Madonna.
It did have extreme wasted potential.

InfinityWithin got a reaction from NowRadiate in Opinion: Ghosttown was wasted potential
I think the video was very lame, actually. A beauty with grillz parading around in a "ghosttown"? Wow, what a concept. The whole set looked very fake and cheap. And that long and boring break near the end... God, wasn't that pathetic??
With a video like Take A Bow, Frozen or Ray Of Light things could have been much better.
Just my opinion.
-
InfinityWithin reacted to null in Opinion: Ghosttown was wasted potential
Ghosttown has to be one of the greatest ballads in Madonna's recent discography (from 2008-present). It's really a shame she didn't bother promoting it as much as she should have. Honestly it was wasted potential to be something greater than it actually was. Everything about the song was perfect and is,in my opinion, probably my top ten favorite Madonna songs of all time.
Do you agree or disagree?

they easily could've done something better by using a screen cap from the video with text over it. no excuses
I thought Ghosttown was acceptable and BIM was cute though. I wish she did an era with highly collectible (even if digitally) releases again. I didn't wanna own those singles with subpar rushed remixes and inconsistent artworks...
