On a side note, the only time I thought to myself, 'ok this is damage control' was when we got the endorsements in the American Life era (Gap Jeans, Estee Lauder) a softer image in the Love Profusion video - then RIT which I think would have been very different if AL was well received like Music - and then Confessions was a whole reestablishment 

Was it damage control by Warner really? I remember reading some reviews saying the album didn't have obvious singles apart from "Deeper" and I somehow agree. It's a great album but didn't have the obvious commercial super smashes the previous ones had.
The 2nd single was supposed to be "Bad Girl" with a super sexually charged video, but "Deeper And Deeper" was rush released after the initial backlash of the album release and the book. They needed old pop commercial Madonna back in full mode... yet she chose to do a super arty video for it.

She's still friends with Debi as well as Rosie. Besides, how many of us have friends they've kept for more than 2 decades? It's a rare thing, even if you're not a celebrity.

Is that the reason? LOL! I don't believe for a second it's about her dating these young man because she wants them to recognize her fame and be treated as a queen because of it.  I'm sure it's more about the physical aspect of things.  Otherwise, she'd hook up with something a bit older and could match her wit. 
I think she enjoys fucking these boys and playing Mama to them.  If she can instill a bit of her wisdom, interests and intellect, it's a win for her. But I'm pretty sure, she's not looking for something life long with these young men.

I also love those stories about how detail orientated Madonna is. She will pick a note or step being off in rehearsal while she's also performing in it. She really is something else and its amazing she rarely gets credit for her brilliance. Even her own fans try to downplay her talent sometimes.

I had thought Madonna had mentioned it in an interview back then, that Die Another Day wasn't originally intended to be included on American Life, but due to its success, they decided to include it as part of the track listing.
Whatever the case, Die Another Day was hardly something tacked on.  Madonna decided to include it on the album, unlike American Pie on Music.

It is, that's why a remix is included in the lates remix ep. Same for Live To Tell. Both songs are perfect in those two albums, American Pie doesn't and it's at the end of the albun as a bonus track. 

I meant she only sang it once IN LIBSON. Like, for all of the Lisbon dates, she only performed it as a duet, so there is no solo performance.

Something to Remember.
Of course TIC is her best compilation but I tend to listen to those songs separately. STR feels like its own album that you can just put on.

Got both versions today. What a truly beautiful release. The sound on the regular version is fantastic too. 

It's a good point. It was such a fun show live, had the best time.
