Acclaimed Music is a website created by Henrik Franzon, a statistician from StockholmSweden. Franzon has statistically aggregated hundreds of published lists that rank songs and albums into aggregated rankings by year, decade and all-time. Lists that are submitted by readers to magazines or websites are excluded from the aggregation. Author Michaelangelo Matos writes that "Franzon's methods are imperfect, but as indicators of overall critical appeal go, it's hard to beat."

Really?  How can those two be even considered such? I think it's silly to call a song "gay", but those two, when we have songs like "Vogue" and "Deeper and Deeper" which screamed GAY!  LOL!

Acclaimed Music has updated it site; unlike the songs- which expanded to 6,000 rankings- the album stayed at 3,000.

Some things to keep in mind:

* Year-end lists were not nearly as prevalent in the 80s and part of the 90s (that, or the ones attainable are limited) as they were to become in the late 90s-on.
* Multi-critic lists are ones eligible for year-end lists; single-critic lists sometimes are included for all-time lists
* "Later" singles sometimes don't get as much list love as "earlier" singles from an album (especially third singles and beyond)
* Genre-specific lists are not included at AM unless it's from a source specializing in the genre, or includes experts from the genre in compiling the list (i.e. a Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Country Albums wouldn't be eligible)
* Current criteria for artist lists (i.e. Greatest Madonna Songs) is dependent on various factors: i.e. size (30 and up, it looks these days); number of critics (if one and it meets other criteria, one may be OK); must have commentary for each track

Artist ranks shouldn't be paid too much mind to, per the sitemaster (as it just takes into account the top 15 songs and albums from an act, and other reasons), but it certainly gives a good idea of reverence.

Madonna is ranked as the No. 32 act- No. 21 songs and No. 91 albums. You can check out all the info at the site, but here are her songs' rankings in the AM top 6,000 songs:

179. Like a Prayer
220. Into the Groove
230. Like a Virgin
568. Vogue
594. Ray of Light
595. Music

963. Borderline
1,217. Material Girl
1,392. Beautiful Stranger
1,412. Papa Don't Preach
1,413. Holiday
1,442. Live to Tell
1,456. Justify My Love
2,102. Express Yourself
2,124. Crazy for You
2,621. Erotica
2,652. Secret
2,719. Frozen
2,916. Open Your Heart
2,926. Don't Tell Me
4,231. Where's the Party
4,296. Lucky Star

She has others that are bubbling under.
