Personally I consider it a studio album, but I can understand why some say it's a soundtrack. To me, if it was an actual soundtrack, all songs should be in the movie - not just 3 or 4.
I remember when it was in stores new. It was often placed next to the actual Dick Tracy soundtrack AND the Dick Tracy score CD. 
The majority of the songs are just inspired from the movie or era the movie was set in, and the singles released from this album weren't in the movie either.

Hello all,
So I decided to make an instrumental with all the missing elements from the multitrack, I tried 2 different things : 
1 : Multitrack instrumental adding the Filtered Churchapella instrumental (but it's very centered mixed)
2 : Multitrack instrumental with recreated missing elements (CowBell and congas from the Roland TR-626, shakers, triangles and samples from other versions) to add a litlle more stereo to the mix.

It's kinda confusing because for many fans, they didn't know it existed or never heard the Original LP version until the 1985 issue of what is called "The First album".  I always had thought the 3 minute version was the original being the video was the same.  But it turns out the 1rst pressings in certain countries had the 4:48 version.
I prefer the shorter version that went with the video.  It's far more punchier and not as clunky.  Madonna didn't like the original version, so that is why it was replaced.  It's just odd that they used it for the 1985 issue of "The First album". 

I got the debut and Like A Virgin LP's for Christmas 1984. 
The 4:48 version is the only version I knew of for years. It wasn't until we got cable TV in 1990 that I got MuchMusic here in Canada and saw the video with a different version in which I never knew existed. Then I bought myself the debut CD  later that year and was surprised to hear this "new" version on it. 
Then a couple years later I bought an international CD single of Burning Up and heard yet another "new" version lol. 
I was so confused but naturally over the years learned how and why it happened. 
I'm sure everyone might have a similar/comparable story. 

First it was the original LP 4:48 version, then I heard the video version (revised album version), then the 12" version. Many years later I download the Japanese singles boxed set and then heard the 7" version. 
And of course all the various demos online thereafter...

Except if it was based on popularity she’d do the original Hung Up and the original Frozen 😂

Personally speaking, I find Madame X are clearly and easily her most un-enjoyable album.... there isn't a song on it that I love. I Rise, Crave and God Control are just okay songs I feel. A lot of the instrument sounds and the vocoder on her voice just simply irritate me. Many of the songs I dislike so much that they grate on my nerves. I don't understand any language besides English, so many songs I don't even know what she is singing. Plus, I feel it's more of a world album that a pop record. Usually her albums are infused with a particular sound, but the bones of it is still pop. I feel the pop is completely gone in Madame X. I'll never forget listening to it for the first time in my car with my friend and we were both so disappointed. It was so awful that we kept checking to see how much longer we had to listen until it was over. At times we laughed, asking if this was a joke. I have NEVER done that before with any of her albums. I love literally every other album though, some more than others naturally. 

I was playing with the stems and I came up with this reconstructed album version with extended dry ending

Hello everyone!!!! Thanks to the stems that you shared with us, I created a version of what "Like A Prayer Instrumental" would be like. I'm not an expert, I just used my ear, an editing program and part of the 12" Extended Version. I hope you like it. By the way, almost all of the mix is in Mono, except the chorus... I know it sounds harsh but I think they are the stems of the 7'' Version.

I do hope that they are holding back all these single mixes and other things for the deluxe albums. Things like Borderline (Edit) and (Remix Edit) 
We got the True Blue (Remix Edit) so maybe Open Your Heart and La Isla single Mixes will come but on different versions like deluxe albums that may not go straight onto streaming. 
They seem to know which versions we all crave, or are they just to hard to find?  

Rescue Me was a huge hit where I live back in '91 on Detroit radio. I used to come home grade 8 during lunch and hear it on the top 10 countdown every day for weeks. And I remember they played the Alternate Single Mix (which I didn't prefer), but regardless. 🤷🏼‍♂️

In any case Elton still sold all those tickets so it isn’t a lie. Just clever marketing.
