Madonna Sued Again Over Delayed Concerts: ‘Total Disrespect For Her Fans’
Months after she was sued by angry New Yorkers, a group of D.C. fans say Madonna made them wait hours in a "hot, uncomfortable arena" before lip syncing her performance.

Madonna is facing another federal class action lawsuit over late starts to her concerts, this time filed by spurned Washington D.C. ticket buyers who are accusing her of showing “total disrespect for her fans.”
In a complaint filed Friday in D.C. federal court, three fans claim that the Queen of Pop broke the law by taking the stage two hours late at a pair of December concerts at the city’s Capital One Arena.
The lawsuit, which also named concert giant Live Nation as a defendant, says that the late starts amount to “a wanton exercise in false advertising.”
“Forcing consumers to wait hours for her performance in a hot, uncomfortable arena is demonstrative of Madonna’s arrogant and total disrespect for her fans,” lawyers for the fans wrote. “In essence, Madonna and Live Nation are a consumer’s worst nightmare.”
The new case comes three months after Madonna was hit with a similar lawsuit over delayed starts to December shows in New York City. That case made headlines because it claimed the fans “had to get up early to go to work” the next day – a claim Madonna’s lawyers have since argued is not the kind of “cognizable injury” that can form the basis for a lawsuit.
In Friday’s complaint, which was filed by the same lawyers as the New York case, the fans seemed intent on heading off that same kind of backlash. “This complaint is not about unhappy fans who don’t want to stay up late, but instead, reasonable, responsible people who had commitments to babysitters, work, getting their vehicles out of parking lots that closed at 12:00 midnight, and realizing that public transportation would no longer be operating.”
Like the previous case, the lawsuit is a proposed class action that aims to represent all fans who experienced similar problems from the late start. A rep for Madonna and Live Nation did not immediately return a request for comment on Monday.
Filed by fans Elizabeth Halper-Asefi, Mary Conoboy, and Nestor Monte, Jr., the new case claims that Dec. 18 and Dec. 19 tour dates on Madonna’s Celebration Tour listed an 8:30 p.m. start time, but that the shows did not start until 10:40. When the star finally did take the stage, they say she offered no apologies: “I am sorry I am late… no, I am not sorry, it’s who I am… I’m always late.”
In the earlier New York case, Madonna and Live Nation’s lawyers have argued that “no reasonable concertgoer—and certainly no Madonna fan—would expect the headline act at a major arena concert to take the stage at the ticketed event time” and that fans cannot sue over something they knew about when they bought their tickets.
But in Friday’s complaint, lawyers for the D.C. fans called that argument “absurd.”
“In fact, reasonable consumers have seen that concerts featuring Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen, whose tours are also promoted by Live Nation, do start on the time indicated on the ticket and have similar experiences attending Broadway theater, NFL football and Major League baseball games,” the lawyers write.
The new case includes notable new allegations beyond the delayed start. For instance, the D.C. fans also claim the venue was “uncomfortably hot” and that Madonna herself had insisted on the temperature. When fans allegedly chanted “A.C.” at her, they say she responded “f**k you! I’m cold!… If you’re hot, take your f**king clothes off!”
The new case also claims that Madonna lip synched portions of the D.C. shows – another bit of alleged false advertising to fans who expected that she would “perform her music live” from the stage. “Had plaintiffs and other class members known that … the performer would be lip synching, they would not have purchased their tickets.”

Having seen both, Take A Bow was nice, but Rain was more euphoric and felt like it was a good cap to the show. I also thought it was much more beautiful visually with just her on the screens with her hair being fanned, unlike with the TAB backdrop video and the side screens coming down. 
Guess we'll see. She could also throw us through the ringer and surprise us all with a new song tonight, who knows 

Do we think Rain is coming back for these finale shows? It was such a better end to the main show than Take A Bow.

Then if she gets to Rio with no voice at all you'll all be complaining again on how bad she sounds and how embarrassing it all is.
She tries to protect herself to finish her tour in a proper way and she's a diva.
She really can't win. Ever.

Can't believe we're only one month away from the Rio concert.
Can't believe I will finally see the Queen live for the very first time, after 16 years waiting for this moment. The 11 yo me always dreamed of seeing her live, but NEVER thought that the first time would be such in a huge and important concert. Just the thought of this makes me shed in tears.
Can't believe we'll finally have a decent register of a concert, after years of bad editing choices.

I think this is the first time she’s fully lip-syncing to Into the Groove, maybe they’re sorting things out for the big show in Rio. 
 
 
 

Into The Groove is a very difficult song to sing and she has been known the lip synch it or change the pitch towards the end of a tour. 

Just for fun, I did a (not perfect) filter of the lead vocal. Sharing for those who aren't a fan of the high-pitched backvocals lol.

I was at both Dallas shows, so here are some small things I noticed:
Night 1:
-She started about 15/20 min later than she has been these past few weeks and I didn't really think anything of it until...
-During the Burning Up speech she said she was in a mood, but I think she played it off really well and even told the crowd she was feeling a lot better during the Express Yourself speech.
-During Celebration, she was saying her thank-you's and she made a very vague apology to Bob, like "Thank you Bob, and I'm sorry for that thing that happened". I wonder if something happened before the show between the two that put her in a funk? IDK, pure speculation.
-The show was PHENOMENAL! I was at the 3rd row after the end of the catwalk so I saw her up close during Hung Up, Don't Tell Me & Express Yourself. Seeing her so close almost... humanizes her in a way? Not sure of the right term, but I just kept thinking "Wow, she's 20 feet away from me. And she's just a normal person". You get so used to seeing her in wide stadium shots on DVD and on TV performances and think she is this untouchable entity, but when you're that close she just feels so normal. Like performing is just her job, she just happens to be incredibly good at it. I'm still on a high from seeing her, so this probably doesn't make much sense. 
 
Night 2:
-I was in the 2nd row of the highest section, so I got a more birds-eye-view of the show. Both floor and upper levels have their strengths and weaknesses.
-She was in a GREAT mood all night, and I felt was a lot more chatty with the audience.
-Her voice was a little more hoarse than normal so it cracked a few times. Nobody seemed to care.
-During both shows, she really stressed her love of being a mother. I think she said night 1 was David's birthday so I think she was in a reflective mood.
-Some of the things you think might not really work, surprisingly do when you see it live. I never hated the ending, but thought it could be improved. However, the audience went crazy with all of the reincarnations, so I think it kind of distracts from some of the weaker points of the encore.
 
OVERALL, 10/10 concert. Super looking forward to any streaming/video release so I can re-watch in pro quality.

22 shows and the tour will be over......... look like yesterday when the 1st show start.......

This! And a few seconds later she sings the wrong lyrics, wich can be heard even more clearly. It's like they see and hear just what they want to hear... 

Last Saturday, I went to the second show in my town, Montréal.  After seeing a lot of videos since the beginning of the tour, I was kind of not super exited to see it live with my friend.  It was his first time seeing her on stage.  I was expecting hearing more the backing track than her live voice.  I was even expecting to be disappointed by the staging and her not taking control of it.

I was wrong.  I really enjoyed it and so my friend and I guess all those in the arena!  The sound was good, her voice was better than expected and not overshadowed by the backing track (excluding Erotica and Justify My Love), the lighting is so perfect and she is still in good control on stage and she still uses it perfectly to her advantage. 

I would have liked to hear her speak our language, French, but I guess she does not care anymore.

For me, this tour is as good as Re-Invention tour, a tour without a boring part and I can’t wait to see it on a big screen and on my tv!
