Madonna needs new blood, somebody who doesn't have a name and wants to do good work to earn one.
Orbit: A good producer but he's not an amazing songwriter and he's very repetitive.
Mirwais: Even though I personally would like M to work with him forever I don't think that another 2 albuns in a row would be necessary.
Patrick Leonard: Mmmm... What did he do outiside M's world? Maybe he still can write good songs but as a producer I really don't see it working anymore.
The other guys (Diplo, Pharrell, Evigan, Dean, Billboard...) are not bad producers but their work with Madonna are not the best they have done, she just doesn't work to full potential with those mass producers.

I wouldn't dislike rock, maybe something soft and refined like Dire Straits. Their songs are marvelous, so classy, and their style fits her voice and her songwriting. But I don't know, this move could be very smart, because it would means music of high quality, on the other hand it wouldn't represent the spirit of the time and her album could be totally disconnected from the reality, where everything which is not rap (of the worst quality) or trap seems to have been demolished by them. Sadly, we are no more in the '90, when the stage was dominated by myths and giants and every year you could listen to a different music genre. Today we look at those times with nostalgia for who lived them, with a bit of jealousy, sadness and the sense of a paradise lost for who, just like me, regrets not having lived that wonderful golden Era. I really hope she'll have the courage to accept she belongs to a different time, way better than the actual one, and restart to express herself, 'cause she's always lived in a league of her own, surrounded by phenomenal peers who retired or we lost through these terrible years.

Oh my goodness. I would have loved for her and Kelis to collaborate then AND during the Fleshtone era.
Surprising "Candy Shop" wasn't at least remixed and sent to clubs. I think people appreciate it more with different production (they usually appreciate the tour versions more for that reason it seems). Peter would have done a great mix, no doubt. I wonder what Stuart could have come up with. I find his "Miles Away" mix so underrated.
I think I listened to "Across The Sky" and "Latte" more than anything on the album. Classic Madonna. Imagine a live performance of "Across The Sky" that transitions into a mashup with the "Look of Love". DEATH.
Also I agree with other posters, "Beat Goes On" was such an obvious single choice. Was shocked it wasn't released.

“I’ve never been a good judge of what things are going to be huge or not. The songs that I think are the most retarded songs I’ve written, like ‘Cherish’ and ‘Sorry,’ a pretty big hit off my last album, end up being the biggest hits. ‘Into the Groove’ is another song I feel retarded singing, but everybody seems to like it.”

Such an interesting and lively diversity of opinions but it feels like because we're fans we should all have a stake in how she lives her life and which direction her music goes. Before you jump on me - I'm guilty of this too. She does frequently acknowledge her fans but we shouldn't feel we own her.
It's like we're all grabbing at her pulling her in different directions. "Do this do that. Not that..."  I don't think I'd want anyone telling me I should do this or I should do that. I'd resist and do the opposite. I expect she behaves like that too. People forget she has insecurities and feelings. I often feel sorry for her despite all the wealth and privilege, I see a vulnerable person occasionally peeking through.
I want her to be happy, healthy and hopefully release new music for decades to come. Only if she wants to though. I'll always be mesmerised by her and I'll be there following her no matter what.
By the way - Happy New Year!

When Beat Goes On exists I never understand the fascination with this song. It’s hella basic. Beat Goes in had a chance of being a genuine hit especially with the Kanye and Pharell feature at the time.
make it make sense. Even when the Backdrop video had been filmed for the tour.
Warners were high on ket at that time.

Madonna was pretty immersed in late 70s-early 80s New York culture where hip hop originated. Her albums including her first few are heavily influenced by black culture. The first album and Like A Virgin especially were very rnb influenced. The record company even toyed with the misconception she was a black artist before people ever saw her face, remember the single cover for Everybody? she continued to have latin and african american influences throughout the 80s and then obviously Erotica and Bedtime Stories which are two of the heaviest on the rnb / hip hop influence in her discography. And so on. She has featured a lot of black influence throughout her career. It's obvious that like many artists, she has a wide range of musical interests, why would she stop at rap and hip hop? why would she say "not this"? That would be a bit strange for someone like her who likes so many different things and has had so many black influences. One thing I would say that maybe she doesn't like is the strong misogyny that was present in the past in some of the rap culture, but aside from that I don't see any reason why she would dislike the artform. Also rap and hip hop is not only big in the US in 2020...  maybe if we were talking in the 2000s, then ok... but for years now they've been among the most succesful and influential genres in music.

I think she just need to remember that she was an entertainer. Not a messiah, not revolution of love, not Joan Of Arc, bla bla.
An entertainer, that can change the world inspiring peope trough music and videos, when she doesn't try hard to do it. An entertainer that produces good albums in a 3 years lapse maximum and doesn't forget the gaps in between with some singles, collaborations, charity songs or gigs. That's the way that she changed the world and not doing underwear secret projects, Hard Candy Fitness, MDNA Skin, or whatever she has to promote except what the world cares: her music.
I think Rebel Heart and Madame X were steps in the correct direction, but again: too much time in between of the projects, that don't work in the media era that we have now. 4 years of MDNA Skin and #soons are too much to swallow and people don't remember that she exist anymore, the last time probably was during the horrible Eurovision performance that didn't make her any favours.
When she releases an album lately, is like there is no heart on it. Only marketing, cash and numbers. Guy Oseary announcing stupid 'breaking records' of how fast everything was sold out, but a kind of rush to end all the era really quick, then she will be able to twerk at her kitchen or her bath with her gang.
If she doesn't want to perform anymore, or record, it's fine. But don't take your public for granted like if everyone is stupid except for herself.

She barely promoted it, though. We had one performance of Medellin and one of Future. That was it.
And while many artists played little gigs at home during the pandemic, she couldn’t be bothered to have David and Mercy accompany her on guitar and piano for a performance of Killers or Extreme Occident or any other of the more mellow songs from Madame X.

One thing I've been thinking about is that she is surrounded only by black family members these days. Wonder if her latest approach to trap music, her tattoos, her lips, even her ass have been not just a (bad) influence, rather than her way of making her children come closer to her. I see the same in Lourdes. Rocco is the only one who seems to have followed a Brit's way of living. And it seems interesting to me how she's following a bit of the opposite trajectory to the king of pop. I'm afraid that's not the aesthetic of Madonna's fanbase tho. Wonder if she'd be treated differently from an all black fanbase, better perhaps. I mean is it a desperate act of vanity or motherhood slowly changing her so her younger children feel more at home?

Blue Prince reacted to Voguerista in "Evita" ~ Your Memories Of Seeing It The First Time
This time of year, I always think of "Evita" being I saw it in a small little theatre in Jackson, Wyoming when it was cold and snowy. I was in Jackson to watch a sled race (a preliminary race before the Iditarod). We needed something to do after being out all day. To my surprise, the theatre downtown had a showing and it was even half full. I was so mesmerized from the moment it started. Madonna's voice was just heaven all through out the movie and she looked more beautiful than ever. Do you remember where you saw "Evita" the first time? Also, how many people were there to watch it? Do you have any other memories?

    1. It's a true statement
    2. It would entice people to see the movie to see who she really is
    3. It's the title of one of her best electro spiritual songs/One of her best live performances ever

Ok so here are the new tidbits :
M & Pat Leonard have worked on 6 tracks together (for now). One of them is called "I can't help myself"  (like mentionned on the previous page). Another one talks about her father, and the tumultuous relations M has/had with her brothers and sisters, and asks herself if everything would be different if her mother was alive, and also confess she doesn't spend enough time with her father, uncounsciously probably because she connects family with sorrow since her mother passed away. "Who is to blame ?!" She keeps on asking several times in the song. Most of the 6 songs are ballads or mid tempo.  Another producer is gonna work with them in February.

It’s funny how that “insider” tries to save themselves. “The title may change, and it may not make the album. so when the project comes out and you don’t hear it, I won’t  be wrong at the end of the day.” Lol

Hi and once again Merry Xmas to you all!
I suppose many of you know the Song Association game on youtube. Famous people are given a word and have 10 seconds to come up with a song which features it in the lyrics (not necessarily in the title), and sing a few lines.
I want to challenge Infinity members to do it using only Madonna songs!
Sometimes it's easy, but not always! Especially if you don't change to word (plural, other verb form...)
I did it with the Jacob Collier episode (worth watching anyway cayse he's brilliant):

I don't think all the words in the Joshua Bassett episode can fe found in Madonna songs. Actually, I missed two:

I hope this helps you through your lockdown if, like us in Italy, you can't leave your house during these days...

Madonna was goals during Rebel Heart and we never appreciated it enough. But for me her prettiest was Bedtime Stories/ Something To Remember era. I've always seen her as an ever changing entity, so even with her looks now I see her having just a transformation of the times, only lasting for so long.

    It was an exciting time.
    I remember it vividly.
The world was watching. She was the most powerful and famous woman in the world. And she had a hit album on the charts - and an anticipated world tour up her sleeve.
There were some hiccups coming .. like an incredible music video for WIFLFAG that would divide people, and not make the song the hit it should have been. The fight with Warner over releasing Amazing .. and then of course Impressive Instant .. just so many misses after so many successes.
I wish I could go back in time and help correct some of that ..
